My mom was recently placed in this REM house and had been complaining about how horrible it was that she was not receiving her medication that she needed her insulin and now it's been almost a week since I've heard from her and nobody will respond and I'm quite concerned to whom they may concern
This place is very welcoming and staff are very friendly to anyone that walks in the door.
They will not hire you if you are homeless they are known for discrimination I would not recommend this job to anybody I liked it when I first started it was fine but then they made a big issue about me being homeless
They really do care and work hard for there clients
I will preface this by saying this is my experience and that i have not worked for the company for 8 months
I worked for this company for 5 yrs, mainly at the same location with a few other REM homes that i would cover.
THIS COMPANY IS A BURNING DUMPSTER FIRE ON A SINKING SHIP. The pay is extremely low for the high standards and expectations of the job. As a result of this, the homes are constantly short staffed. That means the company will hire ANYONE who will pass the background check. This meant that most of my coworkers were bottom of the barrel teammates who were rude to the clients (and other staff) and just plain unattentive and had no care about doing their job. Every staff that did care and was a good fit for the job and an asset to the company would get burned out by the stress from the clients and lack of help from the team (including house managers and the main office managers) coupled with the low compensation and they would usually quit with in a year if they lasted that long.
Bottom line is that in my experience this company does not pay enough to attract the competent, caring and hardworking people needed to staff these homes and as a result the homes are understaffed, and the clients do not get the services they are paying A LOT of money for and the care and monitering they need to enrich their lives and help them grow and become more independent individuals. Please do not send your family members to this company and if you do, visit them often IN PERSON to ensure their needs are being met.
Doesn t even deserve a star. Been here almost nine years but am quitting today cause they can t hire any good staff anymore constantly stranded at work. It s been steadily getting wors over the years and no one tries to fix it. Don t work here and my god don t make ANYONE live at one of their locations! Shut er down!
Do not bring your child or loved one to this company. They re terrible and don t listen to parents/guardians needs. Most homes are understaffed which leads to burnout of employees, then when new staff are brought in they aren t trained properly. Take your loved one elsewhere if you want them to be cared for.
When I first started almost 7 years ago I absolutely LOVED this place! That being said, here's what it is now...
Unpredictable hours
Inadequate training
No support from supervisors
Very low pay for what is expected
I have been stranded at a site for over 24 hours with 0 response from supervisors or staff.
The only reason it deserves one star is that the people served are absolutely incredible just wish they could get the care they deserve instead of feeding the pig that is this for-profit company.
If looking for this kind of work, find a non-profit company. They pay a liveable wage and actually care about the people they serve and the staff that work!
Would NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE HERE
Current client as of now and I feel Services at the Group home are NOT what the company will tell you ans your family or potential clients
It is a very fun and fast pace environment. There is a lot of room to grow and move up.
