Reign Ministries is a great organization! I have traveled to Ireland in 2016 and 2017 with them and China in 2018. I m currently in the fundraising process to go to China and Israel with them this summer. Reign Ministries has come alongside me in every part of the fundraising process! They train and spiritually prepare you at training camp to be successful overseas.They are incredibly intentional about everything and create an atmosphere necessary for spiritual growth. The staff is great team of people who meet each student where they are at in their spiritual walk. They encourage healthy relationships and give tools to students to help cultivate these relationships with God, family, non believing friends, believing friends, and even strangers. If you re a student looking to serve God on the mission field for the summer, go on a trip with Reign! You will make wonderful friends, experience different cultures, and grow closer to the most important person in your life Jesus!
Over all, I had a fantastic time with Royal Servants. I went on 4 trips total, and served various roles on the teams. I started out as a student on the euro quest team under Greg Speck, I served as a staff discipler on the China team under Tom Ives and also as a senior staff under Greg Speck. Over all, the groups mission and purpose are solid. They do a great job of discipling the students and helping them to grow their personal relationship with Christ. There is a high return rate of students on the trips. Also I typically have enjoyed the senior staff and team leaders. Team leaders get to choose who will be a senior staff on their team, so they surround themselves with people who work well with them. This leads to a solid team that jives well and supports each other from a leadership perspective.
With that said, there were things I hope get resolved. First of all, I don't know very many people who were staff disciplers that wanted to return. There is very little training for the staff and from what I saw, very little support for staff disciplers. It all comes down to the team leader and how much of their needs of the team they pick up on and read. Staff disciplers are treated almost the same as a student, which means you don't have that much more freedom than them, despite the fact that all of the staff are college age or above. There are more complaints I have, but I think this is the only one that deserves visibility. If you are considering being a staff discipler, ask a lot of questions about what this entails. Some staff thrive and return. Other staff get burned out and have a bad experience because they are treated like babysitters for 14-17 year olds, when, in my opinion, that shouldn't be their role.
Reign Ministries is a really great organization that takes teenagers and young adults around the world on missions trips to teach God's word! I've had only good experiences with them so far! Their employees are nice and always helpful!
