In our recent neck trauma situation I have to say the Drs and nurses and St Johns paramedics at hutt hospital were awesome. Everyone was friendly, responsive, helpful and understanding. Three hours flat on his back (my son) with zero movement and his neck in a collar pretty much sucks for an 8 year old and all of the medical staff did what they could to make us comfortable and keep us informed about what was going on. With all they deal with it is amazing how they keep it all together and give us their best. Thanks so much guys!

Thought emergency means instant treatment not waiting for long 3-4 hours. Don't understand how other people are treated first when others are still on waiting list. Should learn from my country. Need to improve service!!

The minister of health really needs to step up here and open their eyes. This hospital is in shambles. There is unhygenic public kitchen area on level 5 the coffee making containers are opened and under a dusty sink. There is calcium deposits on the hot water tap. Someone is going to catch a disease in this building. It would not pass basic hygenic standards in a 3rd world country. My mum has sat in her faeces for 1 hour before getting seen to. This hospital needs a major cash injection for the building and to put on adequate staff. DISGRACEFUL

Go to this place at YOUR OWN RISK especially after hours. Recently we had to go to hospital at night time as labour started and had a cesarean but during the whole process was not explained the risks and benefits of each type of procedure as the planned mode regional anaesthetic wasn't able to be administered. Was on the operating table shaking and shivering in pain while the spinal anaesthetic was tried mutiple times without success and then opted for a general anaesthetic. No one discussed or explained risks and benefits and just carried on. In the end had major complications after the surgery as well which meant wasn't able to walk. Only positive was the midwives were nice and helpful. Wellington Hospital would have been a better option.

The following patient rights were not met

* Right to be fully informed

* Right to make an informed choice and give informed consent

Borderline criminal neglect. Multiple failed surgeries, multiple postponements and cancellations, multiple omissions of information etc at the cost of someone's health. Nurses are lovely and need to be paid more. But this hospital is ridiculous. Try somewhere else unless you have no other choice.

Although at the beginning I arrived Lower hutt Hospital emergency at 4pm afternoon at the end of June 2015, I was so sick and wasn't been look after and pay attention by emergency staff till12am second day. World class service for planned medical care referred by GP, Specialists, Emergency hospital treatment by Ambulance or Helicopter. I guess if you arrive at A&E for normal GP treatment you may wait many hours for medical care. Hutt Hospital A&E department is for emergency treatment not to replace Emergency GP's or 24/7 GPs Practices!

Last week, I came with our refugee family to the Surgical Day unit for their little 5 year old boy to have an operation to remove some of his teeth. I wanted to thank all the staff, from the receptionist to the dental surgeon for their care, patience and kindness to our family. The parents cannot speak English and like all of us were very anxious when their little boy was in an operating theatre but all of you made the day go smoothly and calmly and we were able to go home relieved and happy, thank you so much.

5 days of exceptional care and world class treatment. From the professionally warm reception at an extremely busy ED, to the jovial orderly Keith who delivered me to my ride home - we are lucky to live in a country with human-centred healthcare.

My biggest thanks goes to Mrs Tobin, Dr Nordstrom, the lovely teams in ED and Theatre, Hong, Deepti, Katrina, Keeley, Paz, Jaeleen, Esme, Murray, Rebecca, Larysa, Keesha, Jennie and many others who I have missed.

The team on the Orthopaedic Ward are a testament to best practice, offering kind and compassionate care under extremely high workloads.

I am not sure why there are so many negative views as the experience we had in the hospital was first class. The nurses were incredible and even though the hospital could do with a make over, it was very clean and sanitary. Given the lack of funding they get, the nurses are run off their feet but still do everything in their power to make life as comfortable as possible for the patients. Thank you Hutt staff!

Receptionist was not helpful. Kept saying that she could not find the patient's name. She could not be bothered to ask for other parts of the name. eg; first name, middle name. Sounded she was trying to hang up on me quick.

From 10 pm to 1.00 am we waiting for a doctor to check my son
2.9 month old but for nothing we just back home !!! Thought when u say emergency.. you look after straight away. I never thought going to emergency means you have to wait 3 to 4 hours. I never experience this stuffs in my country as if you take yourself into emergency that means u feel like u needed an emergency attention and the doctors come to see you. Do the test immediately! Im just disappointed. !!!! even one star you guys dont deserve .

All staff in this ward,in various roles, gave me first class care, in a special, professional manner, that only enhances a patient's well-being.

Had we not stayed 24 hours and had healthcare backgrounds family member would not have got the basic nursing care needed. As for medical consultant extremely poor bedside manner, ignored me, treated family member like an object. At the time was surprised this hospital was ever a magnet hospital. Glad we were able to move to hospice.

The nurses are amazing but the receptionist is the most rude person I have ever met, got diagnosed with pneumonia I had severe chest pain and could barely walk and sweating with a high fever, came in an ambulance because I collapsed and couldn't get up or breathe, filled me full of morphine and antibiotics etc and told me i have to go home because there wasn't enough room for me I couldn't find any to pick me up because it was nearly midnight so i had to catch a taxi home with no painkillers because it was nearly midnight and emergency pharmacy closed spent all night in severe pain and trouble breathing( I have asthma aswell) until someone could pick up my prescription the next day, i am not blaming the staff but the health system in NZ is shocking.

Filled with caring, competent people. The building could do with updating, but it's well maintained, and has lots of friendly staff.

Main complaint is that there are not really enough private rooms, which isn't something that the hospital can fix without millions of dollars.

There is often a bit of a wait at A&E as well.

I had a very miserable experience at Hutt Hospital...

I had a very miserable experience at Hutt Hospital Endoscopy Unit last Wednesday. I reported to the Endoscopy Unit at 8.15 am as scheduled. It was confirmed by the staff at front desk that I would definitely be discharged by 11.30 am. Unfortunately I ended up to be the last patient to be seen. I was not discharged until 1 pm. Because I suffer from anxiety, that made things even worse. I became very nervous, agitated, and also I was hungry and tired I had not eaten any food for almost 2 days!!!

However, I have to say nurses there were very good to me.

It was around 12.15 pm I was finally wheeled into the room for colonoscopy. As soon as sedatives were given, Dr. Ricardo Jurawan immediately inserted the scope into my body before sedation had a chance to take effect. It was very uncomfortable and painful for at least the first 5 minutes. Nevertheless, Dr.Jurawan never asked me even once if I was OK during the entire 20 minutes duration of the procedure. Ironically, he stated in my medical report under the title of Procedure which says: "The patient tolerated the procedure well ..Sedation (comfort score): No Discomfort (resting comfortably throughout)." That was absolutely untrue and misleading.

In October 2017 my wife suffered a tragic event while in A&E for some chest pains. I have nothing but the highest praise for the Doctors, Nurses and staff on duty at the time. They did everything they could to saver her but unfortunately it was not to be. The most professional, passionate and caring people I have ever met. My heartfelt thank you for you efforts. Be proud of what you do and how you do it.

You all need to really work on your customer Service skills.. especially when answer enquires. You all sound like your unhappy in your jobs. A smile echos over a phone line even when person calling can't see you. Nice if you gave a Hello your speaking to.... how can I help you.. then when you transfer the call to another department .. you all could atleast say when and where the transfer is to. This hospital is a typical example of the new Zealand Public services. Rude staff, security guard that cant write was put to take your info at the door. Cleaning staff that are so rude you want to punch them in the face. Car park exits that are close and you have to play find the gate, going from one to the other trying to exit, and then after you find one the machine says it wants more money! Total idiots
