Be prepared to have a computer programming degree ...

Be prepared to have a computer programming degree to use this software!!!! NOT USER-FRIENDLY AT ALL. CANNOT sync calendars with Redtail calendar. It's a manual process that will take you DAYS. Do you need to run a report? HA! Good luck with that! There are so many IF, AND, OR BUT, If this equals THAT, THEN THIS will do THAT commands to get a report... IT IS SO FREAKING COMPLICATED!!!!! There really isn't much EASY about this software company. They honestly need NEW PROGRAMMERS that will build this software for the USERS and NOT the programmers or Redtail employees. Of course THEY understand it and know all the "work-around" secretes. Because every time I call and need to do something in this software, there is almost always a "work-around" that is needed to accomplish anything. So much potential here. Super-friendly and very patient help desk assistance, but they can only do so much with the software nuances. PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD... hire a NEW PROGRAMMING AND DESIGN COMPANY to redo this software so it can be the amazing giant is has the potential to be!!!!!!

I have used the Redtail Technology CRM and hosted webmail in my work for several years. The positives of my experience are that when the CRM and email systems are working, they generally work quite smoothly.

However, I would not currently recommend Redtail to persons or businesses searching for a CRM and/or hosted email. For the entirety of my time of using Redtail, there have been recurring server issues that have left both the CRM and webmail unusable for periods of time. These outages last anywhere from a short time to several hours. Redtail encourages you to use their online help desk to report problems. However, that is not possible when a user is unable to login to the CRM because the system is down. During outages the phone wait times to report issues can be extremely long, sometimes last upwards of 30 minutes or more before you can talk to someone.

In addition to CRM and email outages, we have also experienced issues of delays of both emails being sent out and received by the webmail system. In our line of work, it is extremely important that we know emails are being sent and received in a timely manner. It is also necessary for us to have unfettered access to our webmail and CRM close to 100% of the time. Interruptions in service are very costly in terms of lost time and efficiency.

It is for all of the above-mentioned reasons that I do not recommend Redtail at this time. It is possible that I could revisit this conclusion upon Redtail providing uninterrupted service for a significant period of time in the future. However, I have yet to experience this and based upon my past experiences I have little hope of this occurring.

Our RIA has used Redtail's CRM for about 10 years. Simple, concise, and cost effective. Highly recommend! Their web/email hosting is a bit clunky at times but works nicely for security/regulatory requirements of an RIA.

I've been a user of Redtail for something like 3 years. There is a lot of functionality but it is a little clunky. Recently I transitioned from a broker/dealer to an RIA and it was a comedy of errors, nobody knew what they were doing, no process they could articulate or what stage in the transition my database was in. Signed up for my "new" subscription and the rep that signed me up forgot to mention there are additional steps to make e-mail archiving work. They need to spend a lot more money on training their front line. I'm very frustrated with the whole experience.
