Red's Place was great, even during COVID times. We sat outdoors during a brisk fall evening. The waiter and hostesses were kind, the food was great, and the atmosphere was welcoming. We had the loaded tots and flatbread pizza (comfort food!) and enjoyed our time in Ithaca.

We went two days in a row while visiting Ithica since we loved the food ! Loved the proper pig flat bread and reds cheese pot, and enjoyed the side of the waffle fries. The mahi taco appetizer was a bit dry and overcooked, but still great over all !
Great Food! Dogs welcome! Went here for a friends birthday. They had a great selection of burgers and sides, nice appetizers, and a bowl of water for the pup. Highly recommend it!
We really enjoyed this place. I had a chicken sandwich and tomato soup. Both were very good , especially the soup. My son had a burger and fries. We felt safe with covid distancing. Very impressed with food.
We were set to go to Ithaca ale house and the wait was too long so we stopped by reds place and boy it was meant to be. The food was delicious and the service was amazing. Our waitress Brooke was great and so attentive to our family. The food was above average for a gastropub. Great experience and great food. Should definitely check them out.
WOW, just absolutely amazing. Food was 10/10 orderd the French burger and for desert the fried does nachos. Freakin jaw dropping, will be back again for sure
We had a great dinner here for my husband's birthday. Our server was attentive and really nice. Everyone loved their food, and the fries were well seasoned. The whole meal was delicious, and the call-ahead process on a Friday night was really easy to navigate...so glad we came here tonight!
This place was great. Less crowded than other places nearby. My best friend and I both ordered the Aurora Street Burger. They were awesome. Well seasoned, perfectly cooked as we had ordered. The fries were cooked well and crispy. The beers we ordered were great and the waitress was very nice. Would absolutely come back and highly recommend.
Yuck. I ordered the mac and cheese app to start b/c I was so hungry. It tasted terrible, I mean really salty and just gross. Everyone at the table thought so. When I complained to the waiter, he said sorry and that it's often salty.... and then he walked away. That's not good customer service. My entree was unimpressive (flatbread pizza). I didn't finish it at all. The menu sounded good, but between the "in a hurry" waiter, LOUD dogs everywhere on The Commons and unappetizing food, I won't ever return.
Red's is hit and miss. Sometimes you go there and there's an incoherently screaming Indians fan or sometimes there's a nice quiet atmosphere where you can get served quickly in peace. The small seating area add to longer weights during dinner rush. Food is good and they have a decent beer assortment.
My boyfriend and I were walking thru Ithaca Commons and decided to eat here. So happy that we chose this place. Great pub food and wonderful service. I just wish this place was available closer to home so I can come all the time lol I am looking forward to coming back.
We were visiting Ithaca for a couple of days in vacation and chose Red's Place at random. So glad we did! We started with the So Cheesy Dip which came our bubbling hot and was delicious. My boyfriend got the Cuban sandwich, which he asserts is the best Cuban he's ever had. Even the side salad was full of deep greens and was great! I also love how almost everything could be made gluten free. We want to come back again before we leave!
I decided to stop by for some grub; this happened to be an "alright experience"
As I walked In I noticed that the staff wasn't very attentive to arriving guests- It wasn't very busy from the looks of it. The only member of the staff who was calm and had their act together was the bartender.
On the menu I saw an amazing list of food. The down side being that it's all too much that I had to sit for an extra 10-15 minutes figuring out what I wanted to eat.
I got upset once I ordered and the waitress didn't even suggest anything on the menu.
I didn't have any napkins at my table at first. That's another thing don't cheap out on Napkins and buy expensive maison jars and small fryers as a serving plate. Dinner Napkins are far better.
The tots were slightly under- seasoned and skimpy
The Our Cuban Sandwich tasted ok with that said the Chimichurri sauce tasted and smelled amazing!
Once I was finished the waitress was quick to pick up my plate- I didn't like that one bit. She gave me the check... I paid...gave her a reasonable tip at the end she didn't even say goodbye or anything.
I will come back next time hoping for a better experience and better food! Please do not disappoint!
I would also like to add that... not everyone wants Ice in their drinks even though it's summer, ask!!!
The atmosphere is a little too dark for me inside. There is outdoor seating which is nice if it's not too hot. We ordered a burger and fries which were very good. The other item we ordered was not good to me. The menu was kind of small.
Generous portions and well executed even at 3 o'clock on a Tuesday afternoon. Their bread from Ithaca bakery was the best part of our lunch. Great service and very reasonable for a gastropub.
This is a cool place with pub food with as twist. I had a peanut butter and jelly burger that I never thought I'd order but it was great. Service is friendly and fast too. Great place!
Wonderful food, clean restaurant, great atmosphere. Outstanding beer selection to pair with your food. Homemade dressings, fresh ingredients. Kathy was most accommodating, super friendly!! She shared the history of Red's and the local area, since it was our first trip to the 'downtown' Ithaca area. The Thai wings are Amazing!! The Cuban was yummy with a mix of fresh flavors and ingredients that I would never think of, but they make it work! My hubby had the Cowabunga, which is some if the most tender well seasoned smoked brisket, topped with an apple slaw! The Ithaca Lakeside lager was crisp, cold, and a nice light hop flavor with a fruity flower finish! We splurged and got the mixed berry cobbler for dessert, and Kathy made sure we got hot fresh coffee for us when we asked. We know were to come to eat, sit and relax the next time we come into town! See you in May, when we come for our next Cornell Animal Hospital visit.
It's pricey but the burger was very good. Tater tots! They have a wonderful beer selection with Juice Bomb on tap. For 8 dollars. But it's so so so so good.
I enjoy reds. Have been here a few times and the food is pretty good, the service was very good, and the beer selection was nice. Reasonable gluten free section.
I rarely write a bad review but I went to Red s for lunch and it was possibly one of the worst meals I have ever had to pay for. The server was rude and would not explain the sides to me when I politely asked.
The fried chicken sandwich was one of the worst things I have seen. There was almost zero chicken, all it was was fried bits on a roll.
I have come for dinner and found the food good but I will never recommend going here again.
Had a 30 min wait to be seated. Busy night along the entire street. Service was friendly. However, we waited 35 min just for appetizers so we didn't dare order dinner or dessert like we intended. Wings were crispy but tasted like kettle corn, not Thai. Brussel sprouts were cold and the gravy on them was gross, Buffalo soup bowls had minimal taste and the chicken was too dry. Overall not a great experience, wouldn't come back if in town.
Had a decent brunch here a while back however really disappointed in the hostess tonight. Came for dinner and we waited in a line. When it was our turn she made us wait to take several phone calls for call ahead and put them in front of us which I think is ridiculously unfair. We walked out and probably won t be back.
We didn t even get to sit. The hostess was SO RUDE . I couldn t even believe it was really happening. We had driven 4 hours to get to Ithaca. We were starving and went to reds- 25 minute wait- not bad! We got drinks at the bar and waited patiently. After 30 minutes had passed, we noticed 4 open tables. One- shortly after - the servers came out and started rolling silverware on. We have over 10 years experience in restaurant business so we KNOW this is unacceptable. When I KINDLY asked the hostess about the status of our table, she quickly and rudely dismissed us proclaiming that she needed to clean all the tables down and needed more time- about 10 minutes more. However, they were already clean and set . three of them . When She notices this, she ROLLS HER EYES and says she will look next on the list- we were next- there was no one else in there. But she kept walking around the restaurant instead of seating us. When I human to human asked her don t you think it s strange that your staff will take a table to roll silverware instead of seating a willing to pay customer ? And again rudely says this is what management does. What do you want ? Me to talk to them? I said yes because I have a feeling if they knew customers were waiting then they would want us to eat and give money so she goes over to the other workers and they look at me and LAUGH. I can t possibly make this up. Look at my other reviews - I never review for a bad way. But realizing there IS no management, we decided to leave because if we can t even get seated with 4 empty tables, then I can t imagine how awful the service would have been. Again- This young hostess was SO RUDE. She didn t care if Reds made money or not. She didn t really care much about anything .....
