RedFS is designed to easily link people to their files and data regardless of physical location.
RedFS provides access to users’ computers and online services such as Google Docs and Facebook through a file system paradigm. RedFS also provides a built-in web drive on which users and applications can store files directly. Users can access files using a web browser or as a mountable drive.
To use RedFS to access their computers or mount RedFS as a disk, users install a small application. Supported services include Facebook, Google Docs, Zoho, MySpace and Picasa Web Albums.
Developer APIs for web applications are also available. APIs allow web apps to use data from a variety of a user’s file sources and use RedFS to store their own data. For instance, a page design application might take text from Google Docs, images from Facebook and save the resulting page to RedFS’s web drive.
