A great alternative arts center with cinema nestled in a former typewriter R&D center (really!) in the Parkville neighborhood of Hartford. A bit off the beaten track but worth the few extra turns you'll need to make. The galleries are always interesting and the cinema offerings are top notch. Films you'd normally only find in much larger cities.

We often go to RAW for movies. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Arriving early for ticket? That's great because of the good food & beverage selection, as well as fun, interesting, inspiring art exhibits to view.

I've lived in the Greater Hartford Area for 6 years, but didn't know this place existed until a couple weeks ago. This area is improving with time as more and more restaurants and bars open up in the area. Real Art Ways hosts trendy art expos and local movie screenings. Establishments like this could go a long way in rejuvenating the neighborhood.

The Hartford region's only real indie film place, complete with an art gallery and a constant stream of excellent parties and get-togethers for the funkie crowd. A gem that is always worth visiting and enjoying a festival film or two. Beer and wine always served with cool chow, and a super crowd.

Basically one of the only games in town as a meeting place in Hartford for artists. Truly hope they start expanding to include younger and riskier artists. If/when they do, they'd get an easy five.

A really nice change of pace for me. I used to frequent many clubs, bars and popular spots in and around Hartford and loved the diverse, energetic and exciting environments. However in the last 3 years so much has changed and I found myself people watching and also watching my watch to see if it was an appropriate time to leave...it just wasnt fun anymore. RAW aka Real Art Ways is a blast everytime! A limited but still adequate beer and wine selection with cocktails also available. Great conversation starters at every turn and I've just started going! I enjoy movies I would never think of watching a few months ago...I am so happy I joined and look forward to making the best of my membership!

The galleries show interesting, incitefull art which draws one in. It has vastly improved over time. Indie films are very good choices. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because theater seating is abysmal. One has to search around for a good one. The seats are beyond repairable. They need to be replaced. I know that's an expensive proposition for a small nonprofit. Perhaps one of the terrific supporters can find a way to earmark funds for this endeavor. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Now that I live in Parkville I can't wait to check out my local art scene. I've always been a huge fan of Art. Also, I am an artist myself. I'm hoping that maybe this could be a resource into getting more acclimated with the art community. Kind of unrelated but not really... Has anybody seen a giant dried gourd at real art ways? It should have a sky painted on it That Fades from day to night. I painted it when I was in Middle School. My art teacher at the time said she works closely with real art ways and she would love to display it. When I asked for it back at the end of the school year, she said she couldn't get it back from real art ways. I believe she was lying lol but if anyone has seen it there I would like to get it back.
