nice station to get on the old steam train. very enjoyable experience on the train. you have to wear masks on the train though. bookings only online till 9am the day you want to go there. we wanted to try the open carriage but got the semi open but i think that was better as the buring coal throws ashes in the air which eventually falls back on train. maybe the full open carriages are strategically placed to avoid this but can't be sure. semi open is also a lot of fun. on the station itself you can find a suvenior shop and a canteen. nice sandwiches there and can get ice-cream coffee etc too. great experience. great day out with kids. must do. kids had so much fun. nice relaxing train ride. i guess was 30-40 minute drive one way. well worth the money

Excellent trip on the steam train. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Little disappointed that you have to pay for parking as well. But it's well worth a visit to the museum is good with a few bits for the kids.

Great day out bought for us as an anniversary present. The steam engines are only miniature but that doesn't spoil the enjoyment. We started with cream tea at The Turntable Cafe which was delicious. Fresh sandwiches and doorstop size scones served to us by very friendly and helpful staff. It's a 40mins ride each way through beautiful countryside. Would definitely recommend

Cracking little railway. Loved the Eskdale Belle carriage. Was worth paying more to have our own little carriage to ourselves. Journey back from Ravenglass made extra special by the glorious rainbow over the hills. There s very little to do in Ravenglass except a museum (which was free entry and actually very interesting), a pub and the estuary itself. No shops except on the station itself where you can buy some gifts. Highly recommend

Beautiful ride on a little steam train. Not much to do in raven glass but the Roman bath house is a short walk away. The steam train ride itself was the highlight. There are beautiful walks near darthgale station too (we did that a different day).

The route from Ravenglass to Eskadale is scenic. Loved the 2 steam engines and one diesel engine. Sit in open carriage to enjoy the scenic route. Do not forget to visit the Boots village in Eskadale.

We Stayed at the Boot inn in December and decided to go on the miniature train to Ravenglass and are really glad we did. I would recommend this short 7mile journey to anyone staying in the area. The views are absolutely amazing, not only do you get spectacular views or the mountains, when you arrive at Ravenglass you get the views out to the Irish Sea. I would also recommend The Ratty Arms in Ravenglass for some nice pub grub.

Great place, unfortunately not everything is open (at the moment) but the train ride is wonderful though seats are not comfortable, go first class for that. Everything is cleaned down after every journey. Very friendly staff.

Everyone visiting west Cumbria should spend a day on the Ratty.
Young and old will enjoy the experience and the sense of being in the landscape when traveling on one of the beautiful little steam trains will last with you forever. My advice, travel in one of the open carriages and get the real experience of steam and nature.

We really enjoyed our time here, all staff we encountered were really friendly, kind and happy to help. Both Ravenglass and Dalegarth was clean and tidy and was very beautiful. Would definitely recommend to all ages and a must if your in the area.

Brilliant experience and very friendly staff in the ticket office. Drivers and guards could be a bit more approachable, especially to children. Then again, they are volunteers!
Beautiful area and would certainly visit again.
The museum was excellent - plenty for the parents to read and enough to keep my 4 year old son and 1 year old daughter interested.
