It's a good day out. There is plenty to do beside the railway ride. All the staff are very helpful and friendly. Ours was a gift day with a cream tea. The food was delicious and very fresh. We had to make subtle changes but this wasn't a problem and very well done. Would like to go there again to explore the area more.

A wonderful day out! Adults and children alike were enthralled and enchanted by the whole experience. We had a marvellous family day. The staff were unfailingly helpful, polite and informative. Great!

Thought it was a little overpriced, until we set off and it was worth the money. (compared to a local steam railway) but it was worth it, a really long train ride with lots of stops and you can get off and go and explore if you wish. The food in the cafe was lovely aswell.

Lovely train ride through beautiful countryside. Great cafe at Dalegarth. Very helpful member of staff told us we could buy car park ticket with train tickets as we didn't have enough change.

We are regular visitors, first visit during Covid-19 restrictions. Well managed, clearly signed for social distancing, carriages thoroughly sanitised after each trip. We felt safe, enjoyable trip and as usual staff and volunteers were lovely.

Great experience around.
Staff very polite and knowledgeable,
Great museum, cafe and gift shop.
Once on the train very enjoyable with great views and wonderful engins pulling them, the only drawback is the wooden seats in the carriages rather hard could do with a cushion.

We travelled on an extremely wet day. Lady in ticket office at Dalegarth was extremely helpful sorting out tickets, guard at Ravenglass again very helpful finding us a seat to return on an earlier train. Very pleasurable experience.

It has been a long time since we have been here with our children, perhaps some 15-20 years, found the staff friendly, food in the eateries good and value for money but now seems very commercialised - will bring our Grand children as all children should visit La'al Ratty!

Spent Boxing day visiting the Ravenglass railway and it was brilliant. The trip up the line was by steam train. We sat on open carriages (our choice) which was magical, watching the scenery pass in a haze of smoke. We stopped off to have a bowl of soup and hot crusty bread before returning to Ravenglass. A wonderful trip and we are determined to do the trip again in the spring.

Excellent for a family ride out. Lovely people and trains, lovely scenery etc. Try to get to sit in the open top carriages as the journey is so much more beautiful. Our boys thoroughly enjoyed the day as did we. Definitely worth a visit and the money. Parking should be free but sadly isn't but that's the lakes for you.

The railway itself is lovely, amazing scenery, lovely locomotives, friendly staff, and the museum although not quite as good as what it was years ago it s still really good. The only thing that I find really sad is that the railway has decided to withdraw the lovely characterful coaches in favour of new very soulless and toy like looking new ones because apparently people aren t happy with the old(proper) ones, if you want loads of space, bright modern interiors etc then go on a modern standard gauge railway, you come to an old steam/heritage railway you can t expect modern standards, I will be very upset to see the proper coaches replaced by the new ones

I cannot fault our visit to the Ravenglass and Eskdale. The trains run fairly frequently (depending on the time of year). Staff and volunteers are incredibly helpful (and are clearly passionate about their involvement). Stations and stops are great - varied and accessible. And the route is fascinating and enchanting - wonderful and varied views. You can hop on and off of a 'day rover' type ticket and there a plenty of varied walks from most of the stations and halts.

We booked the railway on a whim whilst my partner and I were off work and I am so glad we did. The staff are fantastic, so helpful upon booking and when we arrived at the wrong station (totally my fault) they amended the journey without and fussy.

The journey on the steam train so smooth and took in some lovely scenery. At Ravenglass Station we took the stroll up to Muncaster Castle.

We will visit again in the Summer and make a full day off it.

Thank you Catherine and Jacky for amazing service.
