We stayed in a one bedroom suite with balcony on the 6th floor. The positives first...The suite is very large. Far more than enough room. The balcony is large and very nice, with patio furniture ready for a relaxing drink before heading out into Dublin. There is a half bath along with a large master bath. I thought that was a great bonus. It was also extremely quiet on the 6th floor. The bed was fantastic. We got a great night's sleep. The downside of the suite is that the furniture and decor looks like something out of a 1980's conference room. I was shocked. It is worn, brown and very office-like. Badly in need of an update.
The location of the hotel is perfect for going out in Dublin. It is very central to everything and we walked everywhere. Couldn't ask for a better location.
The staff of the hotel was very professional and friendly. They were so efficient and we never had to wait a moment for anything. Nothing but praise for them all.
The breakfast was amazing. If you can't find something that you like in that spread, you aren't looking hard enough. I've never seen so much food. The restaurant staff was also first class. Best hotel breakfast I've ever seen.
I would definitely give five stars if it weren't for that worn out, tired furniture. It's a shame, really, for such a beautiful hotel to have that problem.
When you're staying in a hotel that costs $400/night, you're going to have really high expectations. This review will show you what you get for that price at the Radisson Blu Royal Dublin.
Dublin Hotel Review: Radisson Blu Royal
Checking-In
After surviving through the cold Wow Air flight, stopping in Dublin for 19-hours and powering through the Dublin airport I was finally at my destination with a comfortable bed waiting for me. Unfortunately, it wasn't ready yet.
I arrived at the hotel at noon but requested an early check-in. As a Gold member with Radisson Rewards, you have that as an amenity...which I absolutely take advantage of.
The receptionist informed me to come back in an hour and the room would be ready. I happily agreed and asked where I could get the best Irish meal nearby. She pointed me in the direction of a top rated place and I made my way there for my first Irish meal.

Breakfast Buffet
They also had servers bringing out coffee and other breakfast drinks. I think I've only seen this at the higher end Radisson hotels...even though it's still mediocre. For reference, Hyatt, Starwood, Marriott and Hilton do things at a much higher quality level.
On my way out of the breakfast buffet, I picked up a granola bar to-go. At some hotels, they tell you not to take anything from the breakfast area. I wasn't sure if it was okay or not...so I went for it anyway. As I was walking out of the eating area, an employee standing at the exit says something to me. I have no idea what he said. I'm not sure if it was even English. Some Irish people have a very thick accent that I'm not used to hearing.
I responded with a very aggressive "What did you say to me?" I realized this sounded aggressive right after the guy responded. He slowly and politely said "Have a nice day."
The Fitness Center
When I'm jet-lagged, I can only sleep a few hours before waking up again and having a tired day. To resolve this, I try to exercise so much that my body has to sleep to recover.
The hotel advertises that they have a fitness center. They do not. They have a PARTNERSHIP with a NEARBY fitness center (Iveagh Fitness Club) which is only open from 6am-10pm.
Incident:
Early the next morning, I'm abruptly awaken again by a very loud fire alarm and flashing lights. There was no announcement about this being a test. I quickly dressed, picked up my cell phone, wallet, passport and ran out of the building. The rest of my belongings remained in the room because I thought this was a real fire.
Of course, there was no fire that I could see. Maybe a gas leak? After waiting outside for 30 minutes (it was summer but still pretty chilly in the morning) they announced we could go back inside. They said a nearby building had a small fire which triggered their alarm.
Very nice hotel located within walking distance of downtown Dublin. The staff did take a decent amount of time responding to a request for a sleeper sofa.
Great hotel bar. Have visited a couple of times a year since the hotel opened and always feel I should drop in more when leaving. Something very nice about this place. Excellent selection of drinks and its great to see the same staff year after year. Love the sense of space in a city where most bars are very pokey.
Disappointed with our stay. We felt that the hotel was over priced. Not sure we would return based on this experience.
A bit too. expensive for this part of Dublin .Don't park your car outside I could be a very costly mistake
If you ever want to use the event/business room, DO NOT DO IT. I have attended a graduation ceremony there and everything went wrong. No sound , no lights, no organisation.
Nice hotel located in a busy place near to city centre Dublin.Best place to stay and enjoy all tourists spots in Dublin City .
Afternoon tea was AMAZING! Thank for a lovely treat!
Stayed at this hotel Saturday 30th. From check in with Ivanna to check out with Conor this hotel was fantastic. Stunning rooms and delicious food. I would definitely recommend this hotel
Home detestable
Average benefits
Friendliness of the lamentable welcome
The staff is very attentive and the suites are very comfortable. There is a considerable difference between the suites and the standard rooms. We did, however, have 3 loud interruptions in the way of hotel alarms and we're forced to evacuate the building with small children in Pyjamas. There were no explanations, but it was inconvenient
Love this place, clean and affordable but one of my favourite thing here is the food...so lush and scrumptious, highly recommended. Staying here too is really close to many notable places, all within walking distance to the likes of Guinness Storehouse, Christchurch Cathedral, Trinity College, etc..
We do Malaysian Embassy gathering on Saturday 16th Dec17
location Southside of the river Liffey off George's Street, gateway to shopping in Dublin City walking distance to Christchurch, Guinness brewery. Dublin Castle, Trinity College. National Gallery and Museum, Government Buildings any many more.
Very nice hotel in a good location. Concierge & front desk were very helpful. Roims are very nice.
Excellent hotel, excellent location one block from St. Patrick's Cathedral. The personnel is very friendly. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable.
The room service food is very fast, and delicious.
I think it is worth the cost of the hotel for a pleasant stay.
very good chain hotel to have in the heart of the dublin city
Had afternoon tea there, Sarah was such a wonderful host
Went for a function and to the restaurant, impressed by both. Nice modern decor, friendly serving staff.
I treated my sister to afternoon tea as a birthday treat at this hotel yesterday, it was recommended by a friend who gave it the thumbs up, over all the service and food was very good but there was one member of staff Graham who just put the finishing touch to our experience, he was most iwelcoming, polite pleasant, helpful and friendly, makes all the difference when hotel staff are so welcoming, l hope the Radisson appreciate the great asset he is to their business
Nice modern hotel very well located in Dublin. Very nice staff and available.
The Irish breakfast is a treat. The room is a little small in case of crowds.
The rooms are large and comfortable.
A fantastic stay in Dublin, staff excels at providing each and every customer a wonderful experience. Close to everything and far enough away from the crowds. We will be back to this hotel.
This was such a great hotel, with an amazing staff! This was the first trip abroad for my husband and I and the staff was so hospitable to us. We would love to travel back to Dublin and definitely plan on staying here again when we do!
Rooms was very comfortable and clean. Nice location. Staff was very helpfully.
Nice place, centrally located but fairly quiet. Pleasant staff.
Good breakfast but terrible wifi connection, actually almost no wifi connection in the rooms which is really painful during business trips.
Nicely laid out hotel, if a tiny bit soulless. The rooms are really nice though, staff are well trained and it's about a 2 minute walk from the trendy George's St area. Good spot for business travelers.
Excellent meal and service (from Samantha) at the restaurant. The beef was perfectly prepared!
Top class service and facilities! Great for staying central!
Good location near the city centre in a quiet area. Spacious rooms with spacious bathroom, nice bar. Can be recommended for business and leisure
Good food. Quiet and relaxing. Enjoyed an excellent family lunch served by helpful and pleasent staff.
Brilliant location. Right in the centre of the city.
Christmas Day, open bar, within two beers, the order is then servircele someone from the back tells her not vendercele if you do not have lunch there. Blackmail, in Christmas day! The drink will always triumph!
Spacious room, excellent breakfast choice, large bed, great service. Only downside is being charged 15 by the hotel for parking. Parking should be free for residents.
We stayed at the Radisson Blu Royal for the last night of our honeymoon. The room was clean and spacious. The shower and bathtub were luxurious. We didn't eat in the restaurant, but we did have drinks in the bar - the staff were very polite. The hotel is centrally located to everything you would want to see and We felt extremely comfortable and safe walking around the area. We would definitely return, a lovely experience.
Lovely food and the staff are helpful. They need to shift the aircon to winter now as we were cold the last time we were there.
Outstanding service, great staff. Room is huge, Competitive prices. Highly recommended
UPDATE: Union our return to the hotel a week later, we were upgraded to a suite with no construction noise. Very please that management acknowledged our previous complaint and fixed it. Thank you! Hotel and staff were nice, location is very close to many sights, however the level of noise was unacceptable. After a long day of travel from the US, upon checking in we were treated to a false fire alarm and had to evacuate before we even made it to our room. Not a huge problem as it only lasted 10-15 minutes. The real problem was the construction noise, non stop hammering and pounding. I believe it started around 8am, by 9am I could take no more and called the front desk, I was told there was on going construction during the week and there was nothing they could do. We're staying there again next week, since my reservation is prepaid and nonrefundable, I'm really hoping I get a room away from the construction noise. I requested this when checking out, but the girl at the counter didn't seen to care or note my request.
