Wing night is the best deal in town! The regular food menu is also great, everything is $6. Good selection of beers on tap. Great atmosphere as well. Love this place.
I was very impressed by their model of selling all menu items for 6.95 with portions adjusted for the price. Where you can get a dish for one person at a typical pub for 13-15 dollars, you can get two here for the same price and try more food all at once. Portions were very fair and often generous considering the low price tag.
While a Michelin star critic may be unimpressed with the food (what I mean to say is that the food is similar quality to what you'd get at other good pubs), it is very good at exactly what you'd expect from an ordinary diner.
Cheap food and regular beer prices. The food quality isn't amazing, but for $5.95, it's reasonable.
We had a great experience. The service was great, the food tasted good, and to top it off the prices are amazingly low. We will definitely be back.
All menu items are one price. So no choosing your meal based on cost. All the items I've had are fair portions and good quality. Not a large menu, but there's enough that anyone should find something they like.
Great food at an amazing price! Staff are generally fun and upbeat.. Always enjoy myself there.
Very reasonable priced drinks and appetizers. Parking is a little difficult but available
The Pub was great. Friendly staff. The best part is the $5.95 menu. Everything is $5.95. The only negative thing I can say is that it was quite cold inside when I was there.
Service is not upto the mark, the service quality can be improved and the music as well.
Service is pretty bad and quality of food is lackluster, but the cheap Wing Night can make up for it
love the food they serve but they never answer the phone.. i've sat in the store and called many times and watched them stand around ignoring the phones
Friendly service and great prices. The caesar salad was made with proper grated Parmesan, which is impressive especially considering the price. Potato skins are also quite good.
Unfortunately, wings seemed to have been unseasoned and the buttermilk fried chicken recommended by the waitress was very, very dry.
We really enjoyed our dinner. You can't beat the price, and the food and service was excellent. Our daughter starts University of Waterloo in the fall and I can see the Pub on King becoming a family favorite.
I went with my father and a few of his work friends. The food was good and the staff were very friendly, BUT around 7:00 the music became so loud and the people around us were crazy. We were not happy with "The Pub on King" When it basically turned into a club. I would go again but, I will make sure I am out by 7.
Haven't had a bad experience after 9 o'clock but going at about 6 when it's not even busy. I waited over 40 minutes for my food and was ignored by 4 out of 5 waitressess
Meh, lazy dude serving. Beer not coming quick enough and cold burger.
Very affordable food w/ $6 menu, awesome live music
Did not receive the food that was ordered, all drinks came 20+ minutes after we asked for them. Ended up going next door. Will not be going again.
Great place to be on a game night. Food is also very good. On game nights they have a offer for Chicken wings - 14 pieces for just $2, which is really an awesome deal.
Great atmosphere and music (live at times) waiters take a while sometimes.
The service was terrible, but the food was okay. If you have an 1hr to spare waiting for a beer....and dont mind loud kids...its okay.
Great customer service. However the food was a bit to greasy and over cooked.
Servers were busy talking to themselves. Took forever to get an order in.
Ok food, good prices, Ok service. Better if you go just to get slammed.
A great place for good and cheap eats. The only thing that's stopping me from giving a good review is the service. I've been here many times, but rarely is the service quick and they seem to forget about things all the time. On many occasions I've asked for extra napkins (when we get something messy like wings) or plates, and then the server disappears, never to be seen again until the end of the dinner. Also they charge extra for mayo, even when you order a burger, which is ridiculous.
Food price is cheap
parking spaces are plentiful
I'm just here sippin' and let me tell ya it's poppin'
Food prices are good. Its a nice pub. Sometimes service can be slow depending on when you go. Popular place at night for students.
$6.95 for any food item on the menu. Drinks prices are reasonable. DJ 4 nights a week. Service was good. Didn't try the food but it looks like they are trying to attract the student crowd with their reasonably priced food and drinks
Accidentally knocked a plate on the floor and it broke, apologized to staff and offered to help clean up, at which point the waitress replied "just stop talking." Rudest encounter with a waitress I've ever had.
Sat for 30 minutes waiting to be served when the place was pretty quiet and did not get any service. Not even an hello from any employees. Will not be returning.
Love the bar food here and at $5.95 all day every day it's a great price. Drinks are also pretty good here. Ambiance is nice however sometimes it is really busy and there's a lot of students. They also stop serving food about an hour before close.
Slow service: I sat for 5 min before I even got a menu. Small portion of mediocre food, but what do you want for 5.95.
Bartenders are super accommodating, I've had the back room booked for events and even come in to eat during the worst of weather and had a great experience
Fantastic hangout location with a 6 dollar for anything on the food menu price tag , food quality is very good especially given the price. Portions are fairly decent get anything with a side for a great meal for a better price, service is friendly but can take a while to check on you , more of a relaxed atmosphere
Everything is $6. Good sized portions for that price.
Great atmosphere and awesome selection of drinks. The apps were very affordable and tasty. Would have liked to have more topping on the nachos tho. Overall a good night.
Ah yes, this is pretty close to a British pub (apart from table service, pubs don't really do that).
Food: pretty good pub grub with decent portions that are plenty filling. The entire menus is $5.95!
Drinks: various specials on throughout the week. A good selection of beers and wines. Sadly, sparkling is only by the bottle.
Trivia: Wednesday night is trivia, free entry with prize being $50 gift voucher for use at the pub. Usually a fun night!
Atmosphere: it's usually pretty busy in here and has a great vibe and atmosphere.
Great pub! Staff are pretty good. Some more attentive than others.
This is one of my go to places when I want to have an affordable and high quality meal with friends. Delicious Pub fare can be counted on every time. I always get an order of Potato Skins to start. They are smothered in sweet pulled pork and melted cheese, garnished with green onion and drizzled to perfection with BBQ sauce. A little more sauce would be the only improvement I would suggest. Moving on to a main dish, I gravy-tate toward the giant Yorkshire Pudding or Bangers and Mash. No matter what you order, dishes are $5.95 each, and you can purchase add-ons such as chicken breast for your salad, or an extra piece of fish for your Fish and Chips. Try the drink called Bowbena...Strongbow and a shot of Ribena. Heaven!
The ~$5 menu is the temptation here. And you get about what you'd expect for the price. Food portions vary, and the flavours are salty, salty, and salty. Goes well with beer though! Feels a bit like it's run by students... Which it might be.
Really awesome staff, cheap food that s actually delicious.
The service was excellent. The food... Not so much. Don't order butter chicken.
It was 22 years since I last saw my sister. We had lunch today at the Pub and everything was perfect. The waitress was informative, engaging and funny. The wait time was negligible. It was really appreciated because I was nervous about seeing her and the great service and food helped break the ice and made me look good for suggesting this place.
Food is cheap and great quality, lots of options for beer , great atmosphere and staff are friendly . Very recommended.
Love this place, the prices cannot be beat and the food is always delicious
I hosted an event for a large group of people (around 40 guests) and it was fantastic! The manager Steve was really helpful during the event booking, and the waitresses were great. Food was also good and great price at 5$ for each plate of appetizers. I definitely recommend booking the separate room in the back. It was great for our group and open enough for the other side of the pub. I am definitely thinking of hosting another event at Pub on King. I am so glad they renovated, and also improved their food and service.
Pretty cozy and chill as pub... Not great for dancing though
Went for lunch, the food and drinks were great and you can't beat the $5.95 price for all food items!
I really enjoyed The Pub on King. The Food is just scrumptious and I was amazed how much you get for the price. The atmosphere and the people really make you feel welcomed. Whether you go there to eat or to have a few drinks and socialize you will enjoy the place and what it has to offer.
Great place to grab a quick bite or sit around and socialize! I ordered sweet potato fries here and wasn't disappointed. Portions were big for the price and servers were friendly and professional. They have a few cocktails, but they mostly serve beer. I suggest not to get the pan seared salmon though. I ordered it last time I was here and it was dry, bland, and looked like it was partially steamed.
great pricing, everything on the menu is just over 5$, I'm here having a great time. bring friends too!
This place really went down in quality over the years. The staff is really rude now and they stop serving food at 10pm. Wouldn't call this place a pub anymore.
I really love this place. From live music to DJ nights this place has the right vibe to it
Reasonably priced food and drinks. Great service and decent quality. Trivia night is the big draw for us.
Pretty good food at a low price, nice servers, sometimes a little slow on serving food. Have been coming here once per week for lunch for a years
I used to like going to pub on thursdays because of wine night. Now I like going to pub every night because of $2.50 jagr bombs.
Seriously though thats probably the best thing any bar has ever done 6/5
Had to change my review because one or your bouncer didnt let me in with an expired passport. Hes the smallest one and looks like a wanna be guido but he really looks like a broke spanish boy.
He said id only get in if a cop told me i could. So i went to 3 other bars (stark, beckys, and pin up) and they all let me on without question.
Honestly so many people have problems with the bouncers. When that turtle guy left, everyone i talked to was happy he left. Seriously. Train your dumbass bouncers before you hire them.
While i was searching the law that allows expired passports to be used as a valid photo id (just like expired licenses or healthcards) i watched him refuse to let people who left and haf a ciggarette, back into the bar.
Seriously. Make a change.
Nice decor, very affordable food (some portions are bigger than others...), service was friendly but food takes a while to come out. Overall quite good for the price point ($6 for an entree).
Great place. Great location. It's the perfect first stop on your pup crawl in downtown waterloo. Great food. Got great vibes from the staff and customers here. If you get a chance to meet the daytime chef he's the best. My reason for coming here for sure. He's an awesome guy who Cook's a mean meal. Also it's a great looking old school pub.
Great value. I get the fish and chips or the pub burger. Tastes great and lots of food for only $6.
Very cheap good and very busy. But nice place to go
Lousy service, lousy food and zero customer service. You re better off going up the street a couple stops.
Got some fish and chips and the fish was literally tiny I wish I was able to post a pic
