Great city center stay. Fantastic service and worth the stay.

It is quaint in its own easy despite being surrounded by urbanity

The hotel has a very good structure, with comfortable accommodation, excellent bed and pillows, very good breakfast, bar, very nice pool area, 24 hour taxi service at reception and most of the staff's service is excellent, highlight for Mr. Sizwe, for sympathy, education and kindness above average. NEGATIVE POINTS: The Internet is not enough, on 2 occasions there was a problem of lack of water due to the maintenance of the system in the city, making evident the low storage capacity of the hotel cistern (just as the internet is unacceptable for the price it charges) . Some employees do not have much patience with those who are not fluent in English (few cases, but they have occurred), in terms of price is not the cheapest.

As a guest at this hotel, I am very disturbed by the loud music that is constantly played in all public spaces. It is very irritating and annoying. Not relaxing! I complained but they do seem to care. Other guests also complained, with similar results. I may have no choice but to check out - 5 days early! Lou H. Room 515

The service was so amazing!the hotel is clean.They provide weekend entertainment with the best dj ever!!wow friendly staff. The hotel is close to table mountain and restaurants. I really loved it and my kids had a good time too.

Celebrated my birthday here and the food was amazing. Had the ostrich which was mouth-watering. I would highly recommend this place to anyone

Friendly staff. I needed to just pick up a friend who was staying there on business but found the staff to be friendly and courteous... And this was at 5.30 a.m.

We were not satisfied and would not recommend this hotel. Normally I write only nice reviews, but it annoys me that other guests have similar criticisms and nothing is changed. There are just too many roughened corners and it is not clean. In particular, the back of the bed has been tasty any splashes? We had the bad luck that with us the water was turned off from the evening until the next morning. We had to beg for a bottle of water to brush our teeth, supposedly there was one for everyone in the room. That would have been nice. There was no financial compensation, we would have showered or pulled the toilet, was not 12 hours. The window and the blinds are broken. The view through a completely dirty mini window went to backyards, which is somewhere behind a mountain is hardly significant. The whole night you hear police sirens. The mini-pool in the middle of the room is completely uncomfortable, the bed was actually comfortable. The hotel was the fourth as part of our Meier World Tours South Africa in style. I can not think of anything positive or stylish. Except the lamps in the hallway 4 floor in front of the elevator, they were pretty. And the staff were eager to be friendly. We thought, since it is a former prison, something special would be here. You do not see anything, except maybe the rooms are as mini as jail cells I would recommend another hotel which is closer to the waterfront. Walking there is too far and dangerous. It was always very loud in the lounge, in the evening there was a DJ there was no conversation. The breakfast was very simple and uncomfortable. Service as in the other 3 hotels there was none. Car parked, suitcase brought up, no evening room service. I know differently from other Marriott hotels. Too bad, would like to have had another trip conclusion. Taxi costs about 100 Rand to the waterfront, parking garage / day 50 Rand in the hotel.

It's just an awesome place to go to. Must experience it to know.

I've never stayed overnight but seen almost all of their rooms, I love all of the different themes and how out there some of them are, even the lifts! Delicious milkshakes, great food (try their burgers) and a really cool, relaxed atmosphere at the bar. You can enjoy a quiet drink, get some work done, play a game of chess (built into the long glass table) and try out their huge variety of desserts.

The veggies were just too oily, and sometimes the hard eggs were just too overcooked

Was very nice, although if staff could not move around furniture at 6 am that'd be great. Also having a baby next door wasn't great. People were friendly and the food was good. The place is very fancy and I had a nice view of table mountain.

Very friendly staff. Our room was clean and nice. There was a horrible smell tho. Every day. It smelt like toilets and sewage.

Weve been wanting to go try their milkshakes for some time and finally went last night. The experience did not disappoint! Our waiter was very friendly and entertaining and we enjoyed our milkshakes over a few rounds of backgammon in the lounge.

One disappointing thing is I left my sweater in the restaurant after breakfast and non of the wait staff turned it in that's a shame

My friend and I have our monthly visit and try out different places to eat at - the restaurant at the hotel was one of them.
We used the entertainer app with no issues or hiccups which was great - the service was excellent and the food was amazing like mouthwatering yumminess - I heard about the milkshakes and i just couldn't resist but to try it - they are devine!!
If you havent tried it now is the time to get there and experience it.

It's been years since I visited and was sad to see they had removed the deck on the scenic side of the building. That said , still a very nice place that is a bit pricey but hey, it's classy! (I note a reply by the hotel. I did not participate in any such survey. Please do not take reviews and claim them to be from your request. Thanks.)

They have the best guava juice on earth !!! I got addicted to it during my stay in June 2017. Otherwise it's nice place, great customer care,very helpful.

I had an amazing stay at Protea. I stayed in a loft and I loved it.

Felt a bit unreal, like a fairy tale.

Went there for dinner and drinks and were disappointed. 2 of the champagnes that were on the menu weren't available. Steaks were completely rock hard. 3 of us had to send it back to the kitchen. They substituted spinach with butternut without informing us before. When we wanted to order cocktails, we heard they ran out of tequila... I mean seriously. Decor is nice though. Was a completely miss for us.

Walking distance to local hangouts in Bree Street, etc is a bonus.

The warmth of the beds is out of this world. The staff is forever smiling and the food is delicious will definitely recommend it to anyone anytime!

Parking is a bit of a mission and the bar is crazy expensive.

At the restaurant they don't pay attention to guests. One morning I ended up clearing our table and took all dirty dishes to the next unused table because nobody came to check on us. This was the 2nd time, once they have brought food, that the last you'll see of them. Terrible service, the restaurant wasn't even busy

In my opinion a hotel with good location and very well decorated. The rooms are not very big. The restaurant and the buffet give good food. Good option to stay.

Sat in for dinner and was not impressed by the service. Waiters more intersted in chatting amongst themselves rather than checking tables, please improve. Other facilities, i.e rooms, gym and pool are perfect. Service was perfect during breakfast.

The place is an absolute dream. The atmosphere and food is fantastic. The staff are the nicest people you'll meet and they are authentic too. Definitely going back every chance I get

The service was so bad here. Seemed like the waitress had no clue what she was doing. We waited so long for someone to take our food order, that I had to call someone. When the food eventually came it was wrong. I had to give it one star to write the review. Doesn't deserve a star at all. I won't go back there. Their staff was just standing around instead of helping the customers. Very very disappointing.

Still waiting for my milkshake order 40 minutes after ordering. I'm already leaving to my next venue. No explanation, no apology.

Pathetic on day one. Check in is from 2pm and by 3:30 the room is not ready. A 4 star hotel that you spend thousands of rands to spend a night but to have secure parking you have to spend R50. What a joke.

They are making a plan but 30 min later and we still waiting. I would rather stay on the street than this place currently.

I came here to have a few drinks with my friends. It was the night of the 7th of June. I was served counterfeit beers. I was almost finished with my beer, when I randomly decided to check the expiration date. The expiration date was 4th of June. I was extremely upset. When I confronted them, they claimed to not understand how I was served expired beer. When I asked them about their procedure to avoid this, they told me that they check their inventory every Sunday. I was extremely upset with them, as they didn't have confidence in their processes. They offered me a cheap small bottle of sparkling wine for my troubles, I was even more upset. They didn't even care about my health, they just wanted me to wash down that expired beer. The manager took my details, but no one has contacted me yet. I had requested they come up with a way to close gap in their process. I may update this review to update whoever is concerned.

Basically a very nice hotel. The rooms are very modern and functional. Everything is very clean. However, this hotel also has African attributes: so water flushing is permanent, despite water scarcity in Cape Town, and in strong winds it smells from the drains, if not the air conditioning is running. Staff is very nice and helpful.

Trying to call the hotel and there is no one picking up the telephone and the phone just rings and rings and no one picking up. Shocking. Should not even give a star rate, but then you cant post your comment.
