The "5 Bigs", the Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino and the Elephant, are the most dangerous and difficult animals to hunt, iconic African safari species that live in protected areas, with controlled and supervised hunting seasons in private reserves Known as Game Reserve among them Mala Mala, Umbabat, Timbavati, Klaserie, Manyeleti, with luxury lodges with the all-inclusive system, with fully equipped professional hunters that includes the provision of weapons. But the prices are high and there is even a fee for each animal killed and although they are on the periphery of the Kruger National Park, they share the fauna because the animals know no borders.

A Safari and gastric adventure

When you travel to Africa, the highlight of your trip and what most people visit for are the safaris and see the animals in the wild instead of watching it on the Discovery Channel. For me, I mainly came for the cuisine and the safari, and I got a fantastic mixture of both. I did my research to see what I would like to do, and how I would like to do it. The most famous game park in South Africa was Kruger National Park which receives millions of tourists every year. When I read into, I saw the restrictions about what you could or could not do while in the park. Then I read about Sabi Sand, the neighbor to Kruger, except that it was a private reserve, with no restrictions like the Kruger Park had. The private reserve was a chance to be one on one with nature, and to also do it in luxury. My only decision now was to choose one of sixteen lodges on the private reserve, which also included one that was owned by Richard Branson. After careful review, I chose Leopard Hills Lodge.

Leopard Hills was just outstanding, the entire experience is well worth the money, and I highly recommend it to anyone traveling to South Africa and planning to do a safari. Avoid the tourist trap known as Kruger National
Park and all of its crazy rules. See a real safari and enjoy five star services all the way. Leopard hills, you will see me again. you can read my full review by visiting the wine, dine, and Play blog, under the blog archives for January 2014, follow the link for The Leopard Hills Lodge, their are many pictures and video's to watch.

Great adventure, thrill seekers, nature lovers, this is the place to be. A different set of life, a whole new view of the world. Sure the heat might be a little irritating but, hey, you wouldn't be thinking about it if there's a big ass lion in front of you!

I stayed in the villa with my family. It was huge and one of the most luxurious suites I've ever stayed in. Our ranger was excellent and we saw all of the Big 5 on our first game drive. This was my first visit to the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. It is now one of my favourite safari destinations. The wildlife encounters are especially close and the game viewing experience is fulfilling. The kids loved the playroom too.

Out of this world safari experience in the Sabi Sands game reserve. We flew into the private airstrip (Ulusaba) which was an incredibly unique experience. We stayed at Dulini lodge which was magnificent. The wildlife and game we were able to see and experience in the Sabi Sands was beyond our wildest dreams, we are so fortunate to have had such close encounters with such a variety of animals.

This place is actually a private Preserve and offers lovely safari rides with lodging and boarding. The sightseeing is just amazing with wonderful, including safari rides in the park with Lions, Zebras and Rhinos. Amazing stay in the cottages, quality food is served to the quests. Great place. Surrounding views were very special since watching the animals very closely, capturing the special moments in the camera.

A major issue is the Sabi Sands land has 'invisible' boundaries over which their lodges / rangers have no access: they cannot follow animals into adjacent Malamala (another game reserve within Kruger) or Manyeleti's land. This means Sabi Sands drivers are frustrated as they track / search for game. And likewise the Malamala and Manyeketi drivers cannot cross into Sabi Sands space. Crazy At least the animals can roam over the three pieces of land and indeed into the main Kruger Park's space. This is something you don't know until you get there.

The Sabi Sand Game Reserve offers the best big 5 game viewing with the highest population of leopards in South Africa.
Beautiful rivers flowing through the reserve gives the reserve a fantastic African lowveld look.
The lodges situated in the reserve is from the highest standard.

Our family has just returned from a magestic holiday at Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve. The total experience was amazing. We had a very knowledgable ranger who went over and beyond for our group to see as much as possible when out on safari. The lodge was an extremely lovely place to stay with friendly staff who could not do enough for the guests. Accomodation was extremely comfortable and clean. A big thank you to Duane our ranger for giving us a memorable holiday and one we will always cherish. We highly recommend the Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve to anyone considering a safari trip.
