Hello,

Hello,
I was in to see Dr. O'Dwyer on Monday. I was having a terrible eye issue which I was taken in as an emergency. Dr. O'Dwyer was very professional and quickly diagnosed my eye issue. The staff helped me get through my paper work. I was brought in a very short time. My own doctor was not able to fit me in. I am going to be changing to Dr. O'Dwyer ASAP. What a great experience. If anyone is looking for a wonderful, professional doctor and staff this is the place. Won't give it a second thought Dr. O'Dwyer is my new Dr.

Dr. O'Dwyer and her staff were so professional and friendly. My exam was very thorough and she addressed my concerns about multifocal contact lenses. Also loved the selection of frames. Dr. O'Dwyer examined my 9 year old and made him feel very comfortable. She even emailed pictures of his eyes and a child friendly link so he could learn more about his eyes! Our visit was a great experience!

Dr. O'Dwyer is great! I had an appointment a couple of weeks ago and I was very happy! This was my first time seeing Dr.O'Dwyer. Short wait time, and knowledgable & accomodating staff! My exam was thorough & the Dr did not rush me as I had many questions regarding ongoing issues with my eyes. I highly recommend Dr. O'Dwyer!

Can't talk highly enough about Dr. O'Dwyer and her staff; they are friendly, courteous & knowledgeable.
Dr. O'Dwyer is professional yet approachable & very easy to talk with.
It's also one of the few places in the city where I can get Rx Gunnar lenses which I rely on for my profession.
I've recommended her & Primary Eye Care to my coworkers every time I've heard someone asking about eye doctors.

I ve been a patient for about 3 years and have always been treated respectfully by staff. I never waited long to be seen. Dr. Colavito is most knowledgeable, professional and concerned. I am as confident as can be in her care.

Great team here. Everyone is very friendly and they provide a professional and personable service. Well set up to deal with patients ensuring rooms are sanitized before and after each appointment.

Very personalized care. Dr. Odwyer takes the time to discuss your concerns and you never feel rushed. She is very nice and professional. Wait times are kept to minimum (usually 10-15 minutes) and she has state of the art technology. Charges are transparent and the front desk do their best to get you savings (helping you with rebates, explaining differences in contact lens charges ettc).

Dr. Colavito is extremely knowledgeable, compassionate and thorough. These traits are a rarity in today s world of health care practice. The office is pristine and the staff both friendly and accommodating. Could not find a higher grade of practice! Highly recommended and praised!!

Loved Dr. O'Dwyer and everyone in her office! My husband has been a patient here for years. I went into NYC for the first time since COVID to see her. I'm very glad I did. I thought the entire staff was very professional, patient and helpful. Rose was great! The office felt very clean and safe. Well done everyone!

The staff and doctor's were friendly, but the woman selling the glasses tried to give me a very hard sell on glasses and 300 lenses and tried to avoid telling me the prices. She was annoyed that I did not want to pay $900 over and above my insurance for a pair.

Dr Colavito is fantastic. I have near-sighted issues and have also always had problems with contacts. She solved both problems during my visit! I was also impressed with Rose who has excellent fashion sense and was very helpful in finding me the right glasses. I strongly recommend a visit!

Doctor Odwyer has taken such good care of me from the time I first met her over a year ago. I initially came to Doctor Odwyer because I was getting headaches toward the end of the each day. She thoroughly checked out any concerns from my exams and she immediately identified my Cataracts which have since been corrected with surgery. Doctor Odwyer listened carefully to my work habits on computers and has recommended the right lenses that have significantly improved my ability to read fine print and computer screens. Having the correct lenses has also eliminated my headaches. The Boutique has higher quality frames that I found in typical retail stores and they worked with me to stay competitive. I would give my highest recommendation to Doctor Odwyer and Primary Eye Care Optometry.

I came to this office by mistake but am glad I did. Very courteous staff. I underwent a very thorough eye examination. Impeccable cleanliness. They even have a bunch of pens, so that each patient can use a clean one. There is an optometrist on the premises and she is very friendly as well. It was a very good experience.

I echo the sentiment on Dr Colavito. I've been a patient at Primary Eye Care for maybe 2 years and I'm a big fan. Very thorough in her examination and always very clear in explaining to me exactly what she's doing and why she's doing it.
As far as the office itself my two biggest issues at Dr's offices in general is wait time beyond my scheduled appointment and professionalism of the staff. I don't think I've ever waited more than 15 minutes to be seen and when you are brought into the exam room you are not waiting 20 additional minutes for the Dr. to come in. As for the staff they are the single most professional that I've dealt with. Many other doctors offices I've been to would do well to bring their staff in to see how an office should be run in dealing with patients.

The staff was quite friendly and I was seen in a timely manner. I have been seeing Dr. Colavito for several years. She is quite friendly and does a thorough exam. She has always answered all my questions to my satisfaction. I will be returning and would recommend her

I have been a devoted patient of Dr. O'Dwyer since 2009 and have never been so pleased with a Doctor's practice in this city as I am with hers. No long waits, no overcrowded waiting room, no dingy decor.. Her office is beautiful and her staff is friendly, professional, efficient and they truly understand the importance of great customer service. As for the Dr. herself, she's the best! She's extremely knowledgeable, patient in explaining all the aspects of the exam and answering questions, and she's got excellent taste in eyewear! Her in-office boutique is nicer than many of the neighborhood's most high-end, elegant eyeglass stores and she stocks a wide range of choices. I highly recommend Dr. O'Dwyer to anyone wanting the very best in vision care.

Dr. O'Dwyer is very professional, thorough and takes time to explain topics in easy to understand language. Her equipment is state of the art. She sees patients on-time. She is a great doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr. Colavito for over ten years after several bad experiences with other eye doctors. Dr. Colavito has treated me for high eye pressure and blepheritis. She is thorough and caring. She takes the time to answer all my questions and adapts her treatment to changing lifestyle and age. I have never been kept waiting and tests performed by staff have been careful and efficient. Highly recommend.

Dr. Colavito was very kind, knowledgeable, and punctual in my eye exam appointment. They have a lovely selection of eye glasses and Rose, their optician, was super nice and helpful in picking out frames/lenses. I would give a 5 star review except for my interactions with the front desk staff. They did an initial eye test on me incorrectly because they didn't give me proper instructions. Furthermore, when I went to pick up my new glasses they told me to wait in the waiting room but then forgot about me there.

First I booked my appointment through their website, logo click not zd, called at the day of my appointment to confirm it, just in case. There was none under my name and info, even though I took a confirmation screen shot and had a proof of it. They agreed to see me at my time anyways, took info over the phone again, confirmed acceptance of my insurance and called back to find out a Reason of an app.
I showed up, was asked to fill out forms. Half way through filling them out one of the receptionists says - by the way we do not take your insurance. I asked then how come I wasn t told about it over the phone and have been told otherwise. The other receptionist answered that the girl was new and didn t know. I asked wasn t she supposed to be trained? Didn t receive any clear answer. Sadly realizing I was half way with the forms, spent my time coming all the way to that office with 80 plus positive reviews and obviously having an eye problem, I asked how much was an out of pocket price, they looked at me but didn t say anything and kept talking to someone else in the lobby, I repeated myself a little louder because apparently they thought we finished the talk. As now they heard me, one of the girls got up to head to the docs office and said she d have to ask the doctor. I asked why and why didn t they know the out of pocket cost. And was told that it depended on the Reason for an appnt - for reference see above. Crickets.
I was shocked how unprofessional my experience was.
So are you telling me you don t know appointment-out-of-pocket cost at your job where you are supposed to answer that question probably, I don t know, everyday or do you have to see how much you can rip off of the desperate patient now that they agreed to pay in cash? Are you telling me that the most common question that can be asked by a patient making an appntm - do you accept this or that insurance and you don t know which ones you take? You can make a list and hang it right in front of you on receptionist desk. It s that simple. So basically all the info I got from them was inaccurate.
I m so happy I was able to find an excellent doctor that same day after leaving that office. So if you are making a decision to make an appointment at this office, go ahead, but keep in mind, the info you receive might be false, misleading, unclear and you end up wasting your time and money.

They did apologies. Have no opinion on doctors there.

The worst experience ever! Overly priced services,...

The worst experience ever! Overly priced services, which were not necessary in my case and which were not disclosed fully and thoroughly up front!!!!
First of all, I was not seen at the time of my appointment, I had to wait at list an hour. Then, as my appointment began she kept rotating patients, instead of finishing with one. The total time I spend at the office was more than 3 hour, which is absurd.
The reason for the appointment with doctor Maureen O'Dwyer was to get the annual checkup, which means to get new prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses. At the office, I was informed that my insurance would only cover the examination for glasses prescription, and not for contact lenses, which meant to pay out of my pocket $250 ( $250 just for contact lenses prescription). That was clearly out of my price range of what I could afford, so I refused that part. I am glad that I was notified upfront.
Because I still needed my contacts prescription I had to find another doctor ( which I could afford), and I ended up getting a full examination at the price of $100, where I got both prescriptions for glasses and for contact lenses.
Long story short, I received a bill from doctor Maureen O'Dwyer for $690 ( again, I only came to get prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses, and I only got a prescription for glasses). I do annual checkup every year and I have never heard or experienced such an astronomical charges in my life!!!!!!
When I called my insurance company I was told that the doctor had charged me as a patient with a "Medical Condition." What medical condition????? Never had in my life!!!! And still don't have it!!!!!!
Call the office of Maureen O'Dwyer, and explanation at her office was: "the doctor conducted multiple tests, which she thought were necessary for my "condition", she also conducted a test which is required by the DMV." ( WOW! I did not ask for such test!) What struck me the most when I was told: "you are not going to pay that "Much", your insurance will cover most of it and you are Only responsible for the rest, which is $105." Just curious, how do they define wat is "much" and what is not and for whom. Seriously!!!! If I knew that I would Only get a partial examination for such price I would definitely refuse the services at her office!!! which would save me from wasting my money, time and energy on this nonsense.
For many years, once a year I visit an eye specialist for the same exact purpose - to get new prescriptions. ALL doctors do exactly the same procedure as I have received at the office of the doctor Maureen O'Dwyer. Oh, no the only difference I DON'T have to spend 3 hours at the office and I am getting a charge of $690, that is basically the only difference!

Dr. Colavito is incredible!.She spent so much time with me to figure out a solution for my reading prescription. I would HIGHLY recommend this practice.

Dr. Colavito is amazing. So knowledgeable and really understanding. I love that she takes time to be super thorough and really kind. I recommend her completely. Not a fan of doing these reviews because they tend to be disingenuous but I wanted to do it anyway because it is hard to come by a good doctor for anything these days. Awesome service here. and she runs on time! how sweet is that!

The wait time here is short, they don't over book. I followed Dr. Colavito from the Park Avenue office to the E57 Street practice. I love the fact that she is compassionate with her patients explains everything in detail and does don't rush you out. I highly recommend her.

I've been a patient of Dr. Colavito's since she was at another practice and when she left, I followed her here - that's how highly I think of her. She gives very thorough examinations and takes time to listen to patient's concerns. I'd recommend her to anyone.

Dr. O Dwyer is knowledgeable and genuinely caring for her patients well being. The staff is pleasant. However, because the office is trying to maximize efficiency for the doctor, the patient has longer wait times, which I find annoying and inconvenient.

The office was all set up for social distancing and was kept clean and sanitized between all clients. Dr. Colavita was great to work with and offered some great suggestions on new and better products for me. The office manager Jen was amazing and helped us figure out our complicated insurance issues. Everyone there worked together to make the visit awesome!

I've been seeing Dr. Colavito for about a decade now, and I find her to be one of the most caring, clear-talking, and helpful optomestrists I've ever worked with. Her office is clean, the staff uniformly welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeble. I rarely have to wait, which is great. Her office is located right by a bus stop on the M57 bus--convenient!

I have developing cataracts, so my exams are especially thorough. Dr. Colavito goes over the imaging with me, pointing out the details that correspond with my symptoms. I especially love this part. Though I can't read the images myself, she gives me a quickie lesson each time, which makes me feel empowered and less anxious. THANKS!

I submitted a review years ago and am updating the review based on my latest disastrous visit yesterday.
I had made an appointment based on my planned day off to visit eye dr. I even called the Friday before my Monday visit and spoke to the front desk as well Rose to let her know I was looking forward to the visit. I arrived early 9:45 for a 10am apptment after sitting there for a few minutes I asked how long it would be before I would be able to see Dr. Odwyer, To my shock, I was told at that point Dr Odwyer was not in! and that I would be seeing Dr. Colavito - as I was expressing my disappointment and wanting to know why I wasn't told about her not being in a heavy set woman opened a door and started to yell at me for yelling at the front desk staff, she began rattling on about the system being down for @ WEEKS!!! (really) and that they couldn't reach out to me in time - - actually I could have been told before the 10am appt since they open at 9am right?, so that explanation she blurted out doesn't hold true. I said to her I wasn't yelling and that I had the right to express my opinion and disappointment to the fact that the office did not alert me of the dr's absentee. She continued to yell at me when I decided to yell back and told her to go back behind the closed doors because she was not need, instead of calming the situation and be apologetic she made the situation worse and wanted to exert her power of authority?

I have been a customer for 20 years and thru many many staff changes and I don't think this will be different, hopefully sooner than later if the 2 Drs know what is good for their business. I am also tired of people/business using Covid pandemic and computer glitches as excuses for poor professionalism and offices staffed with less than adequate employees and staff with no manners or common sense.

I hope Dr O'dwyer reads this and decides to do the right thing and consider having a new manager as well as a stern talking to her office staff.

I decided to stay and see Dr Colavito and I was pleased at her service and she was apologetic of the entire situation as well as the lack or non communication from her staff of Dr O'dwyers not being at the off on my appointment, I also was happy with Yolanda, - she tested my eyes and helped me with possible selection of glasses for mey difficult eye prescription. so for the 2 that I did stay and get tested by 4 stars! but for the rest of the staff especially the large set angry woman I say less than 1 star- they need to be fired so the office staff reflects the quality service they provide, if not the customers will be chased away because of dumb things as discussed above.
