Preferred Employers Insurance Company Review

As someone who has had first hand experience working at Preferred, I can attest to the great lengths their wonderful staff goes to make the workers' compensation insurance an easy process for California business owners. The claims and policy services departments are nothing short of first class while wholeheartedly enjoying the work they do. They are also the only insurance carrier in California with their own exclusive medical provider network, helping injured workers get back to work as quickly and safely as medically possible.

Oh the audits, one after another way too much. then after completing the annual audit with very little notice given you are are asked to prove it by faxing in DE9's! So we are paying for what???

We've used them for years and never had a burdensome audit.

YOU WILL BE TERRORIZED WITH PAYROLL AUDITS!
Horrible service from a terrorizing audit dept. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing at Preferred. We are fortunate to never have had to make a WC claim. However, when we fired them because their audits are a redundant pain in the rear, they continued to send "final" audits over and over and over. The information they demanded was provided to them repeatedly but again, the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing there. They will not let us go...they continue to send large "adjustment" bills and threatening notices a year after we closed our account with them and switched to Paychex, which provides WC that is directly linked to payroll (THIS IS SO MUCH EASIER). If I could leave them MINUS 5 STARS, I would.

No matter what audit they do, at what time, no matter if payroll and job descriptions stay the same, your policy will go up several hundred dollars at least 2x a year. Do not use this company.

The company should be ashamed of how they have handled things. I am sure my employer is just as disappointed as I am with this company. Unreal.

Dear Steven Gallagher, CEO of PEI, Students ask that you please stop discriminating against Hispanic workers and please reply to our messages.

We strongly feel that PEI is purposely discriminating against a Hispanic injured worker, who is having their human and civil rights denied by the lack of professionalism and the lack of communications being provided by PEI and its employees. The Injured worker only had a small window of time to refute the denial of the claim and PEI and its employees are hindering the injured worker's ability to dispute the denial.

We are also starting to see a lot of issues, where employers and their insurance companies, are purposely violating the basic human rights of employees, leading to ongoing civil rights practices, which are hindering the rights of injured workers to get fair and proper treatment.

The lack of communication from your staff is appalling. We would appreciate your help with this issue and appreciate it if some one at PEI please contact the injured worker immediately to solve the issues of civil rights abuses.

If the issue is not quickly and fairly resolved, we will be contacting the UN Human Rights division and asking that they intervene.

Your help and reply in a timely manner is apprenticed.

Continuously getting audit adjustment bills - after I already cancelled my policy close to 6 months ago. Ridiculous company. You guys are crooks. Payroll hasn't changed in years, but yet I keep getting adjustment bills that don't even tell you what the adjustment is. This company should be reported to the BBB. THE definition of "insurance companies are crooks".
