Kent Mountain Adventure Center (KMAC) Review

We had a wonderful time with our guide Matt on the Via Ferrata and would recommend the experience to anyone! While on the course we were able to get recommendations of other things to do in the area (hikes, etc.) and hear stories of his adventures. The website suggests calling to set up any custom experience but I didn t really understand what that meant until Matt explained that KMAC can really guide you on any hiking or climbing adventure you want to go on in the area. We definitely be calling KMAC again the next time we are in the area!

Did an intro to splitboarding course with Dustin this weekend. It was the first time in the backcountry and on a splitboard and we couldn t have asked for a better guide in Dustin. He did an excellent job of explaining things, including really valuable tips to help you avoid breaking your equipment and make your day easier and more enjoyable. He was also fantastic at reading the group and sensing when we needed a quick break without needing to say so. Lastly he was generous in sharing local knowledge and turning us on to some excellent runs in less ridden terrain. Will be back for sure.

We went on the Via Ferrata in Estes Park and had an amazing time!! It was such a thrilling and beautiful experience and our guide Reed made us feel very safe and comfortable. I ve rock climbed a few times and this was such a unique way to climb on rocks and reach a summit. This definitely a must do in Estes Park!!

My 15 year old son and I had an amazing experience on the Via Ferrata. Reed was a knowledgeable, affable and great guide. While we only spent an afternoon together, it seemed as if we had known Reed for some time given his welcoming nature. He ensured we were safe and had a great time. Reed gave great instruction, highlighted points of interest and took photos along the way for us. The climbing experience was a highlight of the weekend for us both. I'd highly recommend giving it a try regardless of climbing ability or experience. We'd definitely do it again! Great job and thank you Reed!

This was one of the best experiences of my life!!! Our guide, Steve Moss, was amazing!!! He was knowledgeable, encouraging, and fun. Plus he's an awesome chef. I would love to do it again. I can't rate this adventure and our guide Steve high enough!!!

My husband and I were first time rock climbers and were looking for an experience that would teach us some climbing techniques, but, more importantly, get us on some fun, scenic climbs. We decided to purchase the six hour package in order to climb at Jurassic Park. In short, we had an awesome time. Our guide, Steve, was extremely friendly, helpful, and professional throughout our six hour experience. He spent some time on safety and climbing technique initially, and then we spent the vast majority of the time climbing. Steve kept things light and fun; we had a blast with him. We attempted a range of climbs, from 5.4 (easiest, our first climb) to 5.8. This was a more expensive experience than we usually do while on vacation, but we thought it was definitely worth it. A highlight of our trip.

We had a fantastic time with our guide, Steven, for the six hour climbing trip at Jurassic Park. KMAC was professional in every aspect and patiently answered all my questions. Steven is extremely positive and encouraging which ensured we all enjoyed our climbing!

Had a great hike and climb with Reed. Just the 2 of us on short notice. Very accommodating. The Via Ferrata climb was challenging but not difficult. I will do it again. This is well worth the time and effort with KMAC.

My daughter spent a week with KMAC for the boulder master class and loved it! The coaches were awesome, climbing was spectacular, and people were great. We welcomed home a very happy and enthusiastic kid and she is ready to pursue more opportunities to climb in beautiful places. Great week and well worth every penny!

Our experience with KMAC was fantastic, thanks in every way to our guide, Steve. As a family of five, he led us on a hike up a glacier and taught us how to rock climb over the course of two days. He was so personable, funny and engaging, experienced, and knowledgeable making our adventures guided by him so much fun. Our family is grateful to him and hope you choose KMAC to ask for Steve!

I had a great day climbing at Lumpy Ridge with Dom. I'd definitely recommend him - he's professional, kept me safe, and was encouraging when I needed it! I booked the outting via phone about 2 weeks prior, and everything went smoothly.

Unfortunately, Dustin cancelled our snowshoe tour even though we had paid and made reservations far in advance. Apparently he had called our home phone ahead of time to ask us if we still wanted to do it (we had already left for vacation by then!) Since we never got that message, we waited at the meeting location for an hour calling KMAC (even the emergency number) and they never called us back!

We had to drive to KMAC just to talk to anybody. Dustin was there and rescheduled it for the next day, however, one person in our party had to work that day so they had to miss out. Dustin was supposed to call our hotel regarding the refund for the person who couldn t come, however they told us he never called about it!

In my opinion, Dustin should not cancel a reservation and not show up to the meeting location just because he couldn t get ahold of us. Rather, he should have had someone there to meet us BECAUSE he couldn t contact us.

Alternate plans were made for the next day that could have been done for the original day (and we would have had our whole party there!)

Customer service with common sense was SORELY lacking!

Yesterday I did the full day multi pitch trip with steven, and it was an awesome first introduction to multi pitch climbing. Steven and I talked about my climbing experience and he chose two routes that would match my skill level, and had numerous other options in case we wanted to climb other routes. The climbing was rad and the instruction was very helpful. For anyone looking to get into multi pitch trad climbing, this is the perfect opportunity. I don t think i could possibly remember everything I learned on this trip!

Very professional work. Friendly and accommodating staff. Never felt unsafe. Very well worth the cost.

Though its been years, my wife and I used to climb quite a bit. We wanted a custom day on the rock to review anchors and safety so we can safely introduce our kids to climbing outside. KMAC built a day focused on our request. Dan, our guide, did an amazing job teaching us, patiently reviewing gear, technique, anchor setting, top-rope site management and more, in a way that was relaxed, fun, and informative. It helped remind us of what we've forgotten while teaching us new things we wouldn't have known, building our confidence and skill sets. We had a fantastic experience, and feel confident that we can return to real rock with our kids in a way that will be safe and fun. KMAC and Dan crafted a great day for us that will help create memories and experiences with our kids. As we return to and grow in the sport as a family, we'll return to KMAC for more classes and adventures. Thanks, Dan, for making such a great contribution to our family.

Kent Mountain Adventure Center and Guide Dustin Dyer provided an Intro to Splitboarding class in a way that provided me with the opportunity to come out of the day feeling comfortable using my equipment and in love with splitboarding. Dustin used the terrain and snow pack to present foundational avalanche and snow science knowledge throughout the day. I highly recommend working with Kent Mountain Adventure Center based on their knowledge of RMNP, their ability to make the tour/trip absolutely awesome, and based on safety being their number one priority. I look forward to more time out in the mountains with Kent Mountain Adventure Center!

I'm not one to try rock climbing with ropes. But this is something else. The Via Ferrata. For the entire route, there are cables to hold onto with secure metal posts and rungs to stand on as we climbed. No ropes needed. It looks dangerous but we each wore a rock climbing harness and a safety strap with two clip-on hooks. Never unhook both hooks at the same time and you will stay safe!

I went with 4 friends, ages about 55-70 -- with varying levels of courage. I was the most timid but soon felt safe with the harness, clips and encouragement from our friendly fun guide, Reed. What an amazing new way to enjoy the Rocky Mountains.

First of all, I m 58. I didn t know if I was afraid of heights and I had never climbed before. I had the most amazing day with Kalley and now I m hooked. We did the Via Faratta and it was so much fun. I felt comfortable and safe, the views were fabulous, it was a great experience. Kalley called a few days before to check my experience level and to make sure I had everything I needed. I will schedule an into to climbing soon. It was so much fun!

Had a great climb up Long's Peak North Face with Dominic. He timed the whole climb perfectly and had us at the Boulder Field right at sunup and down the mountain before afternoon weather hit. Will be reaching out to KMAC for my next climb!

I had an awesome experience with KMAC on the Via Ferrata!! I have never been rock climbing outside and this was a really cool introduction! I got a super cool history lesson on the Via Ferrata along the way as well! Amazing views and an incredible adventure!

Had the most amazing experience here, worth EVERY penny! Did the cliffside lunch and was not disappointed! Hiked up on an easy route at a bit of an aggressive pace (we determined our own pace)...it actually started to rain a bit before we got to the rappelling part, was worried we would have to go back and not get to experience our adventure! However, our guides set up a little tarp tent, we hunkered down for a short while to wait out the rain, while enjoying cheese and wine! The rain cleared and we got the most memorable afternoon - rappelled the cliff, set up the landing, and then our guides prepared us dinner while we watched the sun start to set. We got gorgeous pictures and an experience we will never forget. Yeah, we rappelled the rest of the way down and made the hike back on a high!

I booked my guided rock climbing with KMAC one week in advance before the climbing date. I received a call from my guide Kelly, she wanted to make sure my expectations from this experience would be met. We talked about details and the trip. We met the next morning, she was so lovely and warm. We hiked to Jurassic Park and started to climb different routes. She taught me different climbing techniques. She was so patient with me encouraged me throughout the climbs I don t think I would do those climbs without her support. It felt like I came to a climbing trip with a friend she was more than a guide. I highly recommend KMAC to anyone who wants to have smooth experience with no hassle, also Kelly, if you want to have the best experience.

Very knowledgeable of the local trails and weather. He hooked my wife and I up with the proper gear and friendly advice. We are visiting from San Diego and clueless about snow hiking. We had a great adventure.

My wife and I went on a cross-country skiing guided tour with Reed. This was our first time ever going cross-country skiing. Reed was an awesome tour guide who was patient and really took the time to teach us the basics. He was also super knowledgeable about the area and told us about all the good outdoor spots to visit while in Estes Park.

Hayden was an outstanding guide! Very glad we got him - great instruction, fun to talk to. Provided more advanced instruction to my eldest daughter as well as great guidance to my younger son. All three kids climbed amazingly under his guidance. Other staff were also very friendly and helpful. Very glad I found this company!

Such an incredibly friendly group of people! I made an appointment for an adventure, needed to reschedule which they helped me with, no problem only to have to unexpectedly cancel all together. After cancelling they proceeded to refund me the full amount! Stellar customer service, incredibly knowledgable and wonderful to work with! I can not reccomend these guys enough!

A Novice in Via Ferrata and Cliff climbing my son and I had a great experience. Our guide Steven was super professional, experience, informative, cooperative and knowledgeable. He truly justifies his nickname Spider-Man . We were touched when he prepared scrumptious Indian cuisine dinner of quinoa, amazing vegetable curry and naan. The dessert of almond cherry chocolate or dark chocolate was cherry on top of the dinner. I would highly recommend him for any hiking, rock climbing, via Ferrata or cliff camping.

We had Matt booked for a half day snowshoeing hike. It was definitely worth booking this hike with Kent mountain. Matt our tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable on our trip. We enjoyed the 3 hours hike in the mountain he definitely loves what he does for a living and that made the day unforgettable for us.

I booked a 6 hour appointment for 10am today, 9/1, and paid a deposit. I received an informative email stating that the guide would call 3-1 days prior to rock climbing to discuss the adventure and answer any questions. I did not receive a phone call so I called, and no answer. I called yesterday and left a voicemail asking for a return call. I showed up today at 9:50 and the building, that was stated in the email with the address, was locked. I called again and left another voicemail. We stayed until 10:10 and no one showed up. I still have not heard from this company. Do NOT book anything.

I have used guide/outfitter services all over the world, and I couldn't recommend Kent Mountain Adventure Center more! The person we dealt with, Reed, has outstanding knowledge of the area, high quality gear and fantastic customer service. The center offers a really wide variety of adventure, and the attention to detail is excellent. We were on a tight timeline and Reed went above and beyond to accomadate us and provide the best possible experience imaginable. KMAC is now my go-to company when I am in Estes.

Solid group to work on your education with. Took the avalanche rescue course as a refresher and got a ton out of it. Refreshed? Yes! New knowledge gained? Yes! Would totally recommend this group for your education.

Had an AMAZING experience this week up the Via Ferrata! First experience vertical climbing, was smiling the whole time, and learned a ton from our guide! Definitely caught the bug and excited to keep climbing. The winds were higher than normal, but it made the trip up even more exciting. Felt safe and stoked the entire time, gorgeous views of the park and town, can t wait to go back up again!

Great experience! Dom provided a very safe and thoroughly enjoyable splitboarding course. I went from minimal knowledge to feeling confident an dmore efficient skinning and transitioning my set up during this one day course. KMAC is an all around awesome organization!

KMAC team hosted the 7 of us (2 families- 4 kids aged 12- 15 and 3 adults) on their personally built and maintained Via Ferrata (a true play ground in the sky) . An amazing day for the entire crew. The KMAC team (Reed and Dan ) were professional, patient, (we presented with a wide range of comfort levels ) and open to share their joy and knowledge of being on the rock. Most important the views were killer . Favorite part of the climb for most of us (yes, even the most squirrelly going in ) was the section of full exposure . Making the summit is always a thrill , but don't miss out on enjoying the journey - much to see. looking forward to my next chance to climb with them again .

Tremendous thanks to KMAC in Estes Park for a great weekend in the Avalanche Rec 1 class. Learned to skin and splitboard for the first time, hiked to some killer backcountry powder, met some great people, and most importantly learned about keeping safe and spotting avalanche zones in the backcountry. Great instructors, and great program.

And while everyone was freezing to the bone down below, we were blessed with a killer inversion.... It was blues skies and shedding layers at 11,000 ft while it stayed negative in Fort Collins all day.

I spent the day on the Via Ferrata with my teenage son and daughter. It couldn't have been better! Our guide Dom made us feel super safe and comfortable while also giving us an incredible experience climbing. This is a not-to-be-missed activity for those seeking adventure and a unique mountain experience. It was a true privilege!

I went on a guided climbing trip with my Dad and two siblings. We all have varying climbing experience and ability, and Steven called ahead to get an idea of what we wanted so he could customize the day to our wants and needs. On the trip, we felt extremely comfortable and safe under the guide of Steven, and all of us are planning on climbing through kmac again someday. Great customer service, great vibe, and an amazing experience.

I was part of a group hike let by Reed, Charlotte and Dustin. It was beautiful and tailored to our needs. Just the right event for some team-building, definitely recommend!

I booked a half day cross country adventure for my fifteen year old daughter and myself for m birthday. We were lucky to get our guide Reed. It was such a fun experience and Reed was so personable and patient, it really made us both relaxed learning how to move our bodies in a new way (which is always a little awkward) while enjoying the quiet of the snow. It was perfect timing, as soon as we snapped on our skis, the snow began to fall. Reed drove us (with masks), normally clients follow in their cars, but I was a little worried my little car sans snow tires would have trouble and he volunteered to drive, which was so relaxing for me. He knew a lot of local lore, geology, spotted elk and stopped so we could take photos, and took photos of us. We had the trail to ourselves most of the time. It was just the perfect amount of fitness, so that our 20 minutes coming back to the car, I was feeling tired, and when we made it back to the car a deep feeling of accomplishment and appreciation. Some of those quiet moments with no one else around, is my new happy place. Highly recommended.

The team at KMA was awesome! They spent time walking us through various snowshoe trail options. We loved their recommendations, helpful tips and super friendly demeanor.

Took a private guided hike with KMAC. Reed did a great job showing us around Rocky Mountain National Park. Ran into a bit more snow than we expected, and Reed did a fabulous job getting us through it! Beautiful scenery and great guide made it a wonderful day.

This was our first time snowshoeing as a family of 6. Our guide helped us gear up and took us to Hidden Valley. Was a great time and now we confident in our skills so we can venture out on our own!

If you are traveling to Estes Park, absolutely stop into the KMAC office at the Stanley to see which adventure awaits you. My sister and I had such a great time on the Via Ferrata this past weekend. Reed was our guide and he made the entire experience special with his knowledge, warm welcome, and adventurous spirit. He was happy to photograph our journey, and went above and beyond to make it a super special outing. The Via Ferrata is a great way to escape the crowds of RMNP, and take a step out of your comfort zone, yet still include all of the beauty this amazing place has to offer. I highly encourage everyone to try it!!

We had two families and 11 people go out to climb Lily Lake and had an absolute blast. The guides, Stephen and Carissa, were amazing and so patient and friendly with our entire group and especially the little kiddos. I would highly recommend this group and will be booking them again in the future.

We took our team from the YMCA up the via ferrata with KMAC! What an awesome bonding experience for us. A few from our group were a little nervous as they had never been climbing before, but we felt so safe and it was such a triumph to get to the top. Having never climbed before, my sister and I signed up for cliff camping. It was such an amazing experience, made possible by our awesome guide Steven, who was a true pro and excellent chef. (Bison steaks, mashed potatoes, and piping hot breakfast burritos with coffee!)

KMAC gave us the ultimate climbing experience for our family. We had climbers from age 13 - 44 and everyone learned a lot, climbed a ton and enjoyed the beautiful mountain views. Hayden was personable, knowledgable and so much fun! I highly recommend KMAC for a fun day of rock climbing in the mountains around Estes Park, Colorado.

My family and I recently went on a beginners climbing trip in Estes Park at Jurassic Park climbing area. Hayden our guide was not only professional but helped us to finish our climbs in a very nice and reassuring manner. I would 100% recommend climbing with Kent Mountain Adventure Center!

We did a 6 hour climbing day in Jurassic park with Hayden and he was awesome! He totally planned the day perfectly. We were able to climb the classic route edge of time, as well as many others that we hadn t planned on doing. He was super quick to set up routes and was able to pick routes with our level of ability in mind. He definitely worked very hard to ensure that we were beyond happy with our day. It was also very easy to work with Kmac in general. They were very responsive to any of my questions. We have used other guide services and have been satisfied but kmac and Hayden made sure we were way beyond satisfied! Would highly recommend for any of your climbing needs.

This was an amazing experience. I always wanted to really rock climb so I signed up. We did the Via Feratta in the morning and then some sport climbing in the afternoon. The professionalism was excellent. The time we spent climbing was so much more than I thought it would be. Simply Amazing. I can't say enough good things about this company and outfit. Had an absolutely fantastic trip on the Via Ferrata a couple nights ago! Gorgeous evening, lovely weather, fantastic guides - what more could we ask for? This was a wonderful experience all around - I highly recommend KMAC!

It was my dream to try cliff camping, but we are in NY and it took us a while to book a flight. Nor me, neither my husband ever tried rock climbing or cliff camping. It was beyond my imagination. We had such a great guide Steve, who made us feel as old friends from the first second. The experience was enjoyable. Steve made us worry-free taking care of all hard work (and there ton of it for the guide). My husband is a big man, who just turned 50, and he made it easily. Thank you, Steve. Thank you for this experience and for your awesome personality that played 50% in that experience.

Vanessa and Roz were incredibly professional and a wonderful duo to spend the day with. You will feel incredibly safe and knowledable through the entire experience. Whether You're an experienced climber or an overweight 40 year old who is scared of heights, you're in great hands with this group. Lunch was great but the company and scenery are even better! Bring water and sunscreen!

Booked a 6 hr Intro course that almost didn't happen due to weather. Steven Moss, however, was great about being flexible and we got to have an abbreviated experience. Steven was knowledgeable and encourage. 10/10 would recommend.

Did a back country snowboarding class with Dustin. It was an amazing day up at Hidden Valley. He taught me how to skin uphill and then he showed me where the powder was. Highly recommend.

More ghosts in Estes. Going on a week and no word from this Dustin dude. Obvious miscommunication by the Stanley. Dustin was the only bright spot in our mediocre experience, now a ghost. Was promised a refund but now the guy seems too scared to follow through

I did the Via Ferrara course with my son and our guide Reed. My son and I had a great time. Reed was a fantastic guide and was incredibly patient and helpful in terms of helping my son complete the course.

The course is a lot of fun. I would highly recommend. It is a good mix between simply scaling rungs and having to locate good foot and hand holds in the rock.

My girlfriend and I did the via Ferrata with Kent mountain adventure crew. Our guide, Steven Moss, was excellent! He knew everything from the equipmen, to the peaks, and even about the botany of the plants. We felt safe while having a great time! We would recommend KMAC and Steven moss as a guide to anyone who was planning on taking a trip to Estes park! Definitely !

This was such an amazing adventure! Our guide Cali was so knowledgeable about everything outdoors and made us comfortable and kept us safe while scaling a giant mountain! I would do it again for sure and would recommend it to anyone wanting an adventure!

What an amazing experience!!! Reed was my guide... he was so cheerful, kind, patient and informative!! We climbed that mountain!!! (Most of it!!-I slowed us down a bit) We saw a hare and a mink!!!! Spent the weekend Cliff camping for the first time and I couldn t have asked for a better experience. Climbing the Via Ferrata to the Summit was something I wasn t expecting, but a blast. Would definitely come back again...scratch that...can t wait to come back again!

My guide Steve was professional and very knowledgeable which put me at ease on a lot of the bigger climbs we did together. Dustin and Reed were exceptionally friendly, super helpful and always a delight to chat to. It is definitely worth it!! I can't wait to get back in winter to check out the split boarding!
