I realize they're currently under construction. And they even mentioned that in the radio ads. Even so, the exhibits were quite dull, maybe because it was chilly and only a few days after they opened. Perhaps in summer when all is in full bloom it will be a more pleasant walk. The squirrel monkeys were extremely entertaining and made our trip almost worth the cost.
It was a lot of fun. We had young kids with us, 2 and 3 not too big that they were too tired. Fun things to do like the train and the carousel. They have a small outside cafe. Food and portions were very good and not over priced like you would expect. We had a little trouble finding a parking place. Parking lot is small but we did not feel the zoo itself was over crowded.
I went to this zoo with tempered expectations and was pleasantly surprised. While operating on a limited budget, the zoo has made significant enhancements and improvements over the years, with routine construction occurring. While some areas still have a dated appearance, the zoo is remarkably clean and nothing felt rundown. The exhibits all seemed well taken care of as well. Options for food and drink were very reasonably priced.
My largest complaint would be parking. The zoo lot fills up very quickly, and overflow happens on the surrounding streets. I was almost deterred from visiting by this, as from the outside, the day appeared unbearably crowded.
I parked on a side street and walked maybe 8 minutes to the entrance. Once inside, my fears disappeared. Plenty of room on the paths to walk at my own pace. Many exhibits I was the sole viewer at times.
Definitely a good destination for an inexpensive, couple hour day trip.
Animals were all on display. Good place for family visits.
Expensive rates for half the zoo exhibits closed ! Lot of animals was inside! Three year old 9.00 dollars to get in smh! Fort Wayne zoo is bigger wAaaay bigger and nicer . Worth every penny!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE POTAWATOMI ZOO. THE KIDS LOVE GOING. THE ANIMALS ARE AMAZING. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE ZOO OPEN....
They need to get more animals or start charging less!
Very nice little zoo. Great place to take the kids and spend a few hours looking at the animals
Despite the regulations my wife and I really enjoyed ourselves. This zoo is a fun little place with some beautiful animals, but it is definitely more suitable for kids to visit. Being that its smaller it is definitely not an all day activity as a date night. All in all worth the price of admission.
Decent local zoo great for kids... Admission a lil pricy but inside food not too bad
It's a small zoo , but you are absent get closer to the animals than many of the larger zoo's
I love this zoo lived near it a good few years some times I can hear the lions rower from 7 blocks away throw my house
A fun time for the kids and the staff is really eager to make sure you have fun. It's a small zoo and it seems to me it needs to expand to have more space for the animals
Had alot of fun, seems like it's improved alot over the years. Was a little disappointed that none of the workers were really informative when we were trying to find out what time the Lions get fed. We wanted to watch when it was feeding time but none of the 5 or 6 different workers could give us an answer! Otherwise was pretty good visit.
Lots of exhibits currently closed, lots of renovations.
It's nice to go to this zoo once or twice a year. Unfortunately they're going through a construction phase, so a lot of things were not open to the public. Overall, it's a decent time, for a decent price.
I understand its under construction but they took out alot of animals the walk through was shut down, no more koi fish and the bridge was closed so no alligators was pretty sad
Not as big as other zoo's but I really like it though im pretty easy. As long as there are prairie dogs I'm pretty much happy.
Always adding something new. Great place to take the kids
Always a great time at the zoo. Reasonable prices, great attractions, they treat their animals very well. Totally worth the entrance fee and the park on the outside is great for the kids.
Have a season pass and take the kids often, they love it. They have great events for both kids and adults.
Greatest little Zoo in 4 states! Grandkids had a wonderful time!!
We went for winter days! Took family to see the animals. Had so much fun.
This Is the best local zoo in the world. Thank you for giving us the chance to be around and learn about exotic animals. If I could become a tortoise and hang out here for a hundred and fifty years I would. One day we will all not be sheep.
Nice zoo, great playground outside of it. Great for bdays or gatherings.
Always enjoy the peaceful stroll among exotic animals.
My 17 month old son and I went to the zoo today, as we have together roughly 5-7 times this summer. It s 3:30 now so only a little bit of time left before it closes. Today is the first day that I ve actually had our family pass with me to present to the lady at the front desk. Since it s my girlfriend s name on the pass and not my own, this lady wouldn t let us in today. The previous times, I ve only had to give them the name on the pass and they looked it up on the sheet and allowed us in. Obviously because they realized we aren t trying to cheat the zoo out of their $7 or whatever it is and believed that we already spent money for the season pass. Pretty pathetic that this lady takes her job that serious as to where she won t let a little boy see the animals, because she thinks we aren t telling the truth. Policy or not, that lady obviously needs a hug.
A beautiful day at the zoo today. Only for stars due to all the construction . So excited for the finished product
Great zoo. Smaller size so makes it a great place to visit in the afternoon and not take an entire day to get through.
All the animals was just laying around... We didn't see ANYTHING exciting... Train ride was a rip off ..
A good sized zoo - we were able to see all the exhibits in a few hours, even going at a slower pace with little kids. Everything was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. We even rode the carousel and little train, for an extra fee.
Nice little zoo. Probably about a 4 hour trip through the whole thing.
Great family fun! Friendly, helpful people. Good variety of exhibits
This is a very nice Zoo. Relatively close to her home so we will be visiting often. Did wish that the exhibits were a little bit closer together though. With little kids I feel like you can only do so much walking before they get burn out and are ready to just be done. We didn't make it to the entire Zoo but hadn't really thought we would. Will for sure be back everything was very well kept and maintained
Reasonably priced way to spend a day with the family.
Awesome moderately sized zoo! Nice for small kids especially because it doesn't take all day to see the all the animals
South Bend has done an outstanding job with this zoo. The staff is great! My son loves going as we have a seasonal pass and frequently visit! Thank you Potawatomi Zoo!
Winter days at the zoo are brilliant! Something to do with the family and escape cabin fever. We enjoy coming to the zoo during the spring and summer too!
Have enjoyed being members for two years and experienced our first Boo Zoo this year. Perfect zoo for families!
We had a great time despite the construction looking forward to many more visits
It was a nice place to Go to get out of the house, would have been better if there were not so many schools there on field trips, or if all the animals were there or if there weren't construction going on. Hopefully next trip will be better.
Love my local zoo. They work hard to conserve endangered species and care for their creatures
I expected this Zoo to be small and underwhelming, but it was plenty big enough and a fun experience. Even the food was very good and inexpensive. If you want to go to a local zoo, give it a try, I can't believe anyone would be disappointed.
Even with restrictions in place, it's still a fun place to visit!!
Small zoo, clean and nice. The zoo brew in the fall is a lot of fun.
Potawatomi zoo has improved a great deal.Food and ride prices are down from last year.animal enclosures cleaner animals more active
I have been going to this zoo for years. The last time was 10 years ago. I was VERY disappointed today. I feel that it's over priced. The animals do not look happy. The exhibits seem to have gotten smaller.
All of the kids had a blast and it was a lot of fun for everyone. The train ride is definitely worth it and the highlight of the kids day
What a great place! The Lions were so vocal and I had never heard a lion roar before! It was amazing!
They work hard to make this a good little zoo... membership is a good deal.
Staff member Jamie was a very good guide and watching her feed the wild monkeys was a real treat for little kids and me, an adult.
Clean, family friendly & informative friendly staff.
Fun way to spend the day. Not a ton of animals but good amount. Good for little ones. Fun activities. Great park nearby. Food options there but expensive.
This zoo is well cared for and always moving forward with new and improved animals and enclosures. It is not a huge zoo so it is easily done in a day. I love this zoo!
Most of the animals were lazy or inside where we couldn't see them.
It was a great zoo. Clean and lots of animals. We'll be going back sooo
Many of the exhibits were closed. I think it would be a great zoo to visit once the exhibits are completed. It's a short easy drive and free parking is a plus. There's also a park nearby with a splash pad.
Light show was really nice and so was the train ride. The hot cocoa was just barely warn and only 1/2 a cup. Little disappointed in the cocoa
We live locally and it's a nice place to get a membership at to spend the long summer days with small children. It's older, smaller than some, but you can still have a nice day with family/friends!
