Every play from the romantic (musical) to the staple (Shakespeare) to the locally written productions are thoughtful, emotional and exquisitely directed. Can speak highly enough.
The atrium concessions area is easily the most enjoyable of any of the theaters in Portland from big to small. Wine, food, coffee, whatever, it's good.
No need to make a cry to support your local theaters, the quality of productions here are always top notch.

I shot a wedding here a few weeks back. The venue is certainly challenging and not for the new photographer. The light is dim and spotty but makes for great ambience for the guests. Anyone shooting a wedding here will certainly get their steps in and will get lost in all the little hallways. The exterior of the building is awesome and makes for the perfect background for wedding party photos. I loved the venue and look forward to shooting there again soon.

The theatre was very comfortable. The show was sold out but the seats gave plenty of room as to not feel like sardines. We were near the back on the orchestra right side. Still a great view of the stage. They had a concession stand but for water it was a $2 honor system. Would love to watch more shows here.

We rented this venue for our wedding. The staff wasn't super friendly and kinda difficult to work with but they allowed us to use our own caterer. But this place is super nice looking for wedding. Also the rent is discounted on certain days, however it also costs more to rent on popular days like long weekends. If you want to rent this place for wedding during summer, you have to reserve very far in advance because their theater schedule doesn't come out until very late. Initially we wanted to have our wedding in September but later on found out that they have shows throughout september. They have speaker system set up already so you can skip having a DJ and save money. We were told that their garbage might be full on our wedding evening because of a show. So, if the garbage is full, we were told to take the garbage with us because there was no other way. In the end, the garbage wasn't full and everything worked out. All in all everything was fine. They gave us season tickets for the shows at the armory theater, which was very nice. We took many of our friends and family and it was a fin experience. I will recommend this place.

About Portland Center of the Visual Arts
Portland Center of the Visual Arts: Inspiring Creativity and Community
Portland Center of the Visual Arts is a non-profit organization that aims to inspire creativity and community through visual arts. Established in 1937, it has been a vital part of Portland's cultural scene for over 80 years. The center is located in the heart of downtown Portland, Oregon, and offers a wide range of programs and events that showcase local artists and engage audiences.
The center's mission is to promote visual arts as an essential component of our cultural heritage. It provides a platform for emerging artists to showcase their work, while also supporting established artists by providing them with resources and opportunities to further their careers. The center believes that art has the power to transform lives, build communities, and create positive change in society.
One of the most significant events hosted by Portland Center of the Visual Arts is its annual exhibition program. Each year, it presents several exhibitions featuring works by local artists working in various media such as painting, sculpture, photography, video art, installation art among others. These exhibitions are curated by experienced professionals who select works based on their artistic merit as well as their relevance to contemporary issues.
In addition to its exhibition program, Portland Center Stage at The Armory inspires our community by bringing stories to life in unexpected ways through theater productions that explore diverse perspectives on social issues affecting our world today. This unique approach allows audiences not only to be entertained but also educated about important topics such as race relations or environmental sustainability.
Another key aspect of Portland Center for Visual Arts' mission is education outreach programs aimed at engaging young people with visual arts from an early age. These programs include workshops led by professional artists where children can learn new skills while exploring their creativity.
The center also offers artist residencies where selected artists can work on projects within its facilities while receiving support from staff members who provide technical assistance or advice on funding opportunities available locally or nationally.
Finally yet importantly ,the center hosts regular public lectures featuring prominent figures from various fields related to visual arts such as curators or critics who share insights into current trends shaping contemporary art practices worldwide.
In conclusion ,Portland Center for Visual Arts plays an essential role in promoting visual arts within our community .It provides opportunities for emerging talents while supporting established ones .Its educational outreach programs help nurture future generations' appreciation towards creative expression .Through its exhibitions ,theater productions ,artist residencies ,and public lectures it continues inspiring creativity among all ages whilst building stronger communities around us .
