The Jakarta State Polytechnic, its history began with the University of Indonesia (FNGT-UI) non-technology faculty, which later became the University of Indonesia Polytechnic.

The University of Indonesia Polytechnic was established on September 20, 1982, since August 25, 1998, it became independent under the name Negei Polytechnic Jakarta based on the Minister of Education and Culture Decree number: 207 / O / 1998.

When it was founded, it opened 3 majors: Department of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Following 1986 the Department of Commerce was opened, which was subsequently developed into the Department of Accounting and the Department of Commerce Administration. In 1990 the Department of Graphic Engineering and Publishing was opened, the result of collaboration between the Polytechnic of the University of Indonesia (Jakarta State Polytechnic) with the Indonesian Graphic Center. Then in collaboration with PT Trakindo Utama, the Heavy Equipment Study Program under the Department of Mechanical Engineering began in the 2001-2002 school year. In 2003 in collaboration with PT Jasa Marga, the Toll Road IV Diploma Program was opened.

Jakarta State Polytechnic is a new name that was formerly the Polytechnic of the University of Indonesia

this is was another part of this university back to few decade ago, but now it was separated and for diploma especially in science and engineering
