Service was good (but my lemon with my water would had been nice), food was exceptional, and you definitely get what you pay for. The size of the servings are great for the price and the food reminds me of home cooked meals. Quick turn around time, but wish I could have had time to eat my salad before my main dish appeared. Social distancing was practiced and the team ensured safe practices. I got the chicken fried chicken.
It was very good but prices went way up and portions went down. I understand an increase but not as much as they went up. Will not be my first choice for eating lunch on Sundays.
Really enjoyed the drinks. The roast beef is amazing. The wings were awesome, although they are little, they are really tasty and I will definitely order two orders next time. They are delicious and have a nice crisp to them. Haven't been to this place since I was in college and so glad I came back to try it again. The hurricane is really good, and the Yo Mama drink was awesome.
I'm a commercial truck driver, so we don't always get the opportunity to eat good food... Po Melvin's the food was AMAZING! and large portions. We ordered a meat loaf platter it comes with 3 sides, large gumbo, a roast beef po-boy, bread pudding, and apple cobbler.
We ordered a piece of the corn cheddar cornbread, a bit too salty for me. Overall everything else was delicious, we highly recommend them.
Yes we will order again.
Words are not enough to merely describe the adventure you have in this location. The food though exceptional is not the main attraction. In today's challenging times with covid-19 the public opinion has changed for expectations. After being limited to dining out primarily, to walk into this establishment and hear the joy of all the workers laughing and having a great time was enjoyable. Even the music actually helped set a stage for the most enjoyable meal that I've had in a very long time. My hat goes off to every worker in this establishment.
Best shrimp in DFW! Consistently great every time!! Worth the drive! I ll add a pic next time. Forgot.
Y'all wanna know what heaven tastes like? It's the chicken fried chicken smothered in gravy. I'm tellin' you!! That jalapeno cornbread, too!! Hometown cooking, this is where it's at. Not only do the owners treat you right, they go above and beyond. Sweetest people ever. If this place is not your home away from home, it will be.

First time eating here so I tried the Colossal Seafood Platter. It's not worth the price or even the effort it takes to eat it.
A side order of green beans was forgotten. No big deal. It happens.
My issue is the quality. On my second bite into my fourth shrimp, I see the intestinal tract. Gross. They are butterflied shrimp so there's no excuse for leaving it in.
And then there's the stuffed crab. It was small but I thought it would be fine if the flavor and quality were there. They weren't. The crab was imitation crab meat and the stuffing was similar to stove top dressing.
The fries weren't bad but could have been seasoned.
The best part was the side salad, which is sad when you came for the seafood.
So disappointed. I was hoping to have another seafood option near work besides Pappadeaux.
I was on a layover at DFW airport and a friend picked me up and took me to Po Melvin's for some lunch. What an amazing place. Food was authentic and fresh. Melvin is a great guy who treated us extremely well and I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for great food at fair prices.
WOW!! This place is fantastic. This was our first time here. We enjoy trying new places and this one checked all of the boxes. Food was GREAT. I got the roast beef with 3 sides, all of which were great. My wife got the catfish fillet which was huge but still cooked to perfection. Hot, crispy and fresh. Service was great and Melvin seems to know or makes it a point to get to know everybody. Who does that anymore. And the prices are WAY reasonable. Can't say enough good things about it. We will definitely be back.
