I strongly recommend that any perspective customer for a motion controller walk, no run away from Platinum ASI. My experience with the company has been extremely disappointing - downtime exceeding 30%, and the worst customer service that I have ever encountered. I can only hope that this message saves another person from the constant inconvenience that I have endured since installing a driveway gate with the Platinum controller. Can I give less than 1 star? Employees are rude and disrespectful. Called to become a client. Grateful I experienced their standard of service BEFORE I became a customer. Seems like a very "temporary" small business. Customers of the lifeblood of a company. They do not seem understand that. Company has not been in business long and will NOT continuing in that manner.
I bought 2 BLSW2016 openers for a commercial property with dual swing gates. These gates are 9' tall and 10' wide and are solid with no air pass through. I had previously used arm actuators and had nothing but problems. High winds would simply snap the arms and the motors burnt up with regularity. I finally bit the bullet and purchased these pad mount actuators hoping it would be cheaper in the long run than constantly repairing the arm style. They seem very well built, open the gates with ease, regardless of wind, and keep the gates closed or open with no movement. Their are a few issues, which is why I didn't give five stars. First the plastic top arm covers. They have discolored to a chalky white in less than a year. I have a lock, so the gates have to by-part when opening. One before the other, and the opposite on close. For some reason, about once a month, the gates decide to close backwards. That is, it doesn't let one leaf close before the other. It will continue to do this until I reset the unit, and then it works fine for about a month or so. About the lock. I bought the 1300 lb. Platinum as well, and when it worked, it was strong. Absolutely no way to open the gates, but it quit working about a month after install. Haven't had time to check it, and have put it off because of how well the openers get the gate closed. Still almost impossible to move gates even without a lock.
