Pizza by Alex Review

Hands down the best pizza in southern Maine! I grew up eating Alex pizza and it's always the same perfect goodness!

I've lived in Biddeford my whole life. That would be 56 years and I have never had a bad experience with Alex Pizza until now. Not sure what is going on with that place but the last two times I've ordered lightly done they were not likely done. So this time I went in to let them know and to get a refund ( which usually they let you keep the Pizza) this guy acted like I was trying to steal from him and was extremely rude. After 56 years sad to say but I will not be eating alex pizza again.

Great pizza, simple menu, lots of nostalgia. This is a must stop if you're in Biddeford.

They have the best Pizza in Biddeford. You have to get it cooked in the old oven though. That's the only way to have it cooked.

This had been a tradition since I was very young. My grandfather first took me here for pizza. Now I have a child of my own and have moved across the country. But each time I come home, I make a trip to Pizza By Alex. It still is an amazingly unique and delicious take on pizza. An original and never to be replaced.

Pizza is not that good anymore the way it used to be. Also crazy prices for the little pizza you get. They need to get realistic with the prices they charge compared to all the competition nowadays.

Best pizza that I've had in Maine. They don't take credit cards which is why I don't go there often.

I've been going to this place for almost 30 years, so it's with a heavy heart that I report, next time I go home, I'll probably skip it. Food has changed, not for the better, same for the staff. This place used to pride itself as being a hometown and sometimes world renowned favorite. I don't know what's happened since I've been gone, but it wasn't good.
I went in 4 hours prior to closing and the employee was extremely rude and impatient. Got home with my pizzas, only to find them greasy and cold. How does a pizza go from oven to car to 5 minutes home and get stone cold?

Only individual size pizza but huge flavor. Best in Maine!

Hands down, best pizza anywhere! Been going there since I was a little kid and still love it. Try the Yaya's Greek w/out sauce -- spinach, onion and feta, pure heaven!

One of the most popular pizza places in the Biddeford and Saco area. Alex pizza has been a local institution for decades amongst the local residents and college students from the University of New England.

Alex pizza is all about fresh and consistent. There is only one size pizza, 10". The pizzas are all hand made from freshly kneaded dough, the mozzarella cheese is ground from huge blocks of fresh cheese same day. The real focus is on the pizza because the restaurant decor is old and dated but clean.

Wether you are eating in or taking out, insist that your pizza be cooked in the "Old Ovens" and not the modern pizza oven with the conveyor belt. I swear there's a difference in the taste ;-)

I've had Pizza from Maine to California. Each establishment makes their pizza different. And, yet a lot of them are very close to each other in flavor, design, and quality. However, Pizza By Alex is different. They do their crust different from anyone else. They even use a pepperoni that's different from anyone else. And, even though this next fact may put some people off, they serve their pizza in only one size. The size is perfect in my opinion. It leaves you full and yet you don't feel stuffed. Oh, you could stop eating when you felt full and save the rest for later. But, with pizza this good. You just don't feel right reheating perfection. The service is good & friendly. The wait is relatively short. And, the prices have always been excellent. When things are perfect. You don't screw with them. Keep up the excellent work Pizza By Alex! And, we'll keep coming back! There is only ONE Pizza by Alex! Don't miss it!

Was a bit skeptical about ordering from here due to negative customer service comments but I must say we had great customer service and the pizza was absolutely delicious... some of best we ever had. We had a big order of 10 pizzas, all different, and everyone loved them. And really liked how they were packaged individually. We ll definitely be ordering here again.

Mine is it today was kind of Awesome it is delicious pizza you will love it once you first try it and it's the best pizza I ever ever ever tried so you get it and you just taste one bite you might even want a whole like you might even want like the whole like pizza even though the pizzas like small it slices and I usually get pepperoni and bacon so when I get that it is 9:23 so go try out alex pizza or pizza by Alex whatever you call it

Legendary Pan Pizzas... Cash Only, but they have an ATM in the restaurant.

I think it is average pizza and they only serve personal sized pizzas. Not quite sure what all the hype is about.

Good pizza. Small almost single serve size pies. Prices are fair. Note that they only have pizza (no apps) and take only cash.

I'm a frequent customer here at PBA. They're a locally owned joint in the heart of Biddeford and Saco. Their pizzas are always exceptional. It's easy to understand how they've stayed in business for so long, the employees are always upbeat and the pizza never disappoints.

I always love coming here. Definitely worth a visit, great staff and great pizza.

Awesome pizza decent prices very good customer service

I was unable to get through on the phone line. I did not know the no walk in rule so I walked a mile with my toddler to get some pizza... I m also 36 weeks pregnant. When I asked to order a pizza the man behind the counter screamed at me and told me to call my Order In. I explained that I d been trying to call for the past three hours... I asked for him to please have some compassion, and patience since I didn t know this rule... he screamed again and told me to go to the pizza place down the road... well iv been going to pizza by Alex since I was 3 years old. I will never go back after the way this man treated me.... not to mention the man was not wearing a mask, I saw one person wearing a mask and she was taking phone orders.... plus they were not even wearing gloves. I did not see them taking any extra effort to keep this place clean and sanitary during this pandemic. I m so upset over this whole interaction and I can t believe how rude this man was. I will never go back after seeing the the lack of cleanliness and Terrible customer service.

First time I've had pizza here and loved it! A friend suggested it. So a bunch of us ordered for take out. Each pizza is made for 1 person. (About a dinner plate size) Out of 6 of us, 3 have been going there for years. Myself and the 2 other people who've never had there pizza loved it too. Will definitely come here again when in the area.

Did u hear they don t wash there hands, There sauce is made from trash or something like that, there pipes drip on to there stove and there are roches in there. Gross

A great family owned business. A landmark for Biddeford. We have been going to Alex pizza for generations and we love it. If your visiting Biddeford Maine we strongly recommend you stop in and enjoy a meal.

Burnt, nearly flavorless, poor (non-existent) service. Gets one extra star for reasonable prices. Will not return.

I've been coming here my entire life (at least 2x a year when passing through the town for the last 45 years) and get a large order of half cooked pizzas to bring home. Alex's has always been a family favorite. Perfect sized and a great price. No other place (in my book) will ever top their pizza.

Grew up eating Alex it's amazing Greek style pizza I've been to most of the pizza places in southern Maine and it really is just Alex or Colleti's pizza factory which is Neapolitan style pizza pizza by Alex one flaw is the price seems to go up every year if you are getting pizza for a bunch of people you are probably better off going somewhere else to get more pizza for your money but if you want top notch quality and don't mind spending extra for Greek style pizza Alex has no equal 5 stars

Pizza by Alex staff and customers were not wearing masks. Won t be going back for take out. I enjoy their pizza but safety comes first for me!

Best pizza. However, they need some renovations to how they do business. I picked up a small pepperoni pizza this afternoon. I asked in a friendly way to speak with someone in charge and had some constructive comments for him. 1. When are you going to start taking credit cards? Response: never. Why? We don't want to pay the 4%. That's 28 cents on a $7 pizza. Hmmm, seems short sighted. I suggested it would increase his business. Response: we would have to hire more people and that would lead to higher prices. A one item small pizza is around $7. Seems like enough room to cover the 4%. When are you going to add bottled drinks or chips? Response: never. Hmmm, take credit cards. Expand your menu offering? Every sound business idea was shot down. Basically, they are operating their business like it is 1955. Highest prices; no credit cards; limited menu, never advertises. It will be interesting if they survives once the old man kicks off.

Pizza is good but on the smaller side and a little more expensive than I would like and if it's a Friday or Saturday wait time is a little absurd.

I want to give them a good review because the pizza really is delicious, but the staff were so incredibly rude. We ordered for the first time a couple weeks ago and two out of the three pizzas were amazing, and the third was decent but seriously lacking bacon for being a bacon pizza with onions added. When I called to order tonight I mentioned this and was told "We usually put 17 slices of bacon on" (she could have said 7, but it sounded like 17 to me, which seemed like a lot) and I explained mine definitely had nowhere near this and the bacon was very thin. She told me "that's just how it comes" in a really rude tone. I explained fine but bacon pizza should have enough bacon on it for you to taste it. She then asked if I wanted extra bacon, and I said not if it costs more, because honestly, I'm not in the habit of paying extra for what should be included. She asked if that was it and hung up, didn't tell me how long it would be, and didn't ask for my name.

I arrive trying to be in a good mood, deciding to give them the doubt and walk in to an adorable little puppy in tbe entry way with a case of beer holding it's leash in place. Clearly another customer's dog and it cheered me up. I walk in and get in line to pay, and three or four people walk in and get in line behind me. When it's my turn they skip over me and take the next person THREE TIMES. I'm standing there, at the front of the line, and they are pointing to people behind me and asking for their names and ringing them up. Now I'm getting annoyed again. Finally they had taken care of everyone else but me, and one of the girls takes out her phone and checks it before bothering with me. She asks my name, and I say "Nobody asked for my name on the phone, but it's Natalie and I..." and she cut me off "Oh, its you. Your pizza will be ready soon, it's $17.77." I hand her a $20, which she looks at three times as if I'm trying to short her, then takes it and gives me my change, then goes and whispers (loud enough for me to hear though) to the other girl "That's her." I go sit (because I'm pregnant and tired and still have no idea how long it will be). While I'm waiting one of the girls steps into the back room and begins loudly complaining about other customers "Usually they say thank you" she says before checking her phone. After a few minutes the other girl says "Uhm. Excuse me, your pizza is ready!" Every other person had been politely called up by name. She shoves my pizza across the counter and says nothing. I walk away, nearly in tears, because that is how nasty these two girls had been to me, and I felt incredibly embarrassed as it was pretty obvious to the others waiting.

Needless to say I will NEVER be back, and would recommend anyone who appreciates being treated like a human being to order pizza elsewhere in Biddeford.

No other pizza like this in lower 48.. Been a staple in my life since the day I was born!!

Good Greek pizza like it always has been. Only downfall is that when you ask for extra toppings like extra cheese that you pay extra for, you really don't get extra. In addition, the prices are high for the size you receive. I realize that the one size pizza is their tradition though.
Having said that, I just feel that with so much more competition in the local area now that offer just as good and larger pizzas with better pricing, Alex pizza is good but just not good enough for what you pay nowadays.
