My first visit to Pittsburgh Botanic Garden was several years ago, and my second visit was today. The garden now has many more plants and buildings. The weather today was cold, so I did not see many leafy trees or flowers, but I understand that warmer weather will bring prettier sights. The garden currently consists of a welcome center and gift shop, event center, administration building, picnic area, chicken coop, apple orchard, log house, pavilion, gazebo, apiary for bees, pond, bird's nest, and many gardens, meadows, and woodlands. The paths were not muddy and were easy to follow. I walked most of the garden in less than one hour, but you could spend more time if you want. The cost was $12 per adult for admission and less for children.

No perennials to speak of so disappointed. If you time it right I'm sure the annual displays are terrific. I just expected perennials which are more interesting to me. The gift shop was totally five stars terrific hats and stands for flowers.

Overall a nice place, but I was rather disappointed with the lack of blooms considering I went in the spring. Seems like some stuff may still be closed off. The new building is pretty nice. I'm just not sure it was worth a 40 min drive. Good if you live closer and aren't dragging a bunch of kids along to make it expensive (and they may bore quickly)

The Pittsburgh Botanic Garden is a beautiful place to hold a wedding. The Davidson Event Center (barn) is rustic and comforting, while accommodating the modern needs of a memorable wedding. The gardens are well-tended, the seasonal flowers are always breathtaking, and the inherent construction and quality in their space lends to an amazing venue. When planning a 2020 wedding, their coordination and flexibility were invaluable, allowing us to change our date 3 times to accommodate safety precautions. Their event staff are experienced and helpful, and have what they need to support you as you celebrate on a potentially hectic day! They will work with your entertainment and photography crew to help you get the most out of everything the garden has to offer.

Beautiful spot to enjoy the native trees and flowers of PA. The trails also are a great place to just wander, or go at a faster pace for exercise. I love all of the seasons here and the Japanese gardens and pond are lovely to just relax.

Very nice. Meditation Thursdays 5:30. Mindful Thursdays . My 25 year old daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed meditation with sound bowls. Definitely carried over into my day and through the night to a beautiful sleep. Thank you Dorit Brauer

I don t know why people in Pittsburgh do not talk more about this place. It is an immensely beautiful botanic garden accessible by car to people in the city. You can take your children, family, and pets for long walks inside their area filled with gorgeous plants and flowers. The place has also a huge parking lot and a cafe with snacks and lunch.

Beautiful place to walk around and see some flowers and gardens. There are also a ton of Dogwood trees on site which are one of my favorites when in bloom.

Also if you have children, it is very kids oriented with several play areas built throught the area, informational panels, and a kids 5 senses garden.

This place is a favorite for my dog and I to take a walk year round. It is a work in progress so it will change for years to come, but the staff are very nice and new things are appearing. Soon the new welcome center will open and the new garden of the five senses is fun for kids abs adults alike. Check out the gift shop and events such as cocoa night tour or yoga. This would be a lovely wedding or event location as well. If you are going more than three times, it is worth buying the yearly pass.

This was a first (and last) visit for me. It was a gorgeous day to be outdoors, and wanting to go somewhere new, we were looking forward to the gardens. It is a nice trail, partly paved, but mostly wooded. When I asked, I was told the gardens were established 5-6 years ago. The pond was the prettiest area, surrounded by beautiful trees and was peaceful.
The new welcome center had just recently opened, and includes a gift shop with unique items, and a cafe with indoor seating surrounded by glass windows overlooking pine trees, and an outdoor deck area. Unfortunately for us, the cafe closed 2 hours before the gardens, so when we returned for a late lunch at 3:15, we were disappointed to find the cafe already closed. The event area looked very nice from afar.
My lower rating "stems" (pun not intended) from 2 things. Basically, you're walking through the woods with already established trees and plants marked with their names, and the admission fees are high for a walk in the woods. Sure it's a work in progress, but I was left wondering what we had paid for! The new welcome center, maybe?! Anyway, it still was a nice day for an expensive trail walk, but that was thanks to Mother Nature!
