If you want to pretend to be in a touristic bistro in 1980s France, this will do. At least prices are reasonable.
Must say I was a bit underwhelmed by my visit here. Firstly we arrived and stood waiting at the door for a good 5 mins before anyone acknowledged us. Having made a reservation, we were then shown a table right next to the door. We asked if there was a table elsewhere and eventually they found us a better table upstairs. We were given menus but no winelist which we had to request as we were ordering our food. We then had to wait for someone to return to take our drinks order. Starters arrived and the waiter was about to walk away when I pointed out that we had no cutlery. Nor had we received any of the complimentary bread. Our drinks still hadn't arrived. I flagged down a waitress attending another table and asked if we could have our drinks, she replied " have you ordered them?" This was all a bit farcical to say the least. Granted, they were busy and fortunately the food was good. But sloppy service really let the place down
We have been coming to PV for ~20 years. We took my parents here for their first restaurant meal since the lockdown tonight. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Claire was delightful, welcoming and reassuring. She made every effort to make everyone feel safe and relaxed. The food was delicious! Thank you.
Nice cosy and value for money. Food rating scores the highest. We only tried the 2 course set. We lapped it all up. Staff is superb, cheerful. The next day we returned again and tried different orders. Needless to say... great yet affordable French Fare for the masses. An equally cheerful waiter softened hardened hearts.
The best. Great value pre theatre menu, cant be beaten in the area - absolutely fab.
Beautifully tasty, great quality food. Lovely atmosphere and attentive staff
Food is impeccable and service is incredible. Very helpful friendly staff; quaint and cosy location.
Just called a minute ago to try to book a table after trying to get them on the phone for 3 hours. Once i finally got through, i asked the lady if she spoke French as its my native language and easier for me to speak in it. She replied " We are in England I speak English" - How arrogant and rude !!
Disappointment. I do not understand how this restaurant has such a high rating.
The tarte tatin was a joke, over-heated in the microwave, the dough no longer existed to give way to a big thing all soft certainly not cooked the same day (or the one before), obviously I've returned to the kitchen.
The lime pie passes but nothing more.
The real alarm bell was tesco's precooked pine stick. We should have left at this time.
Expensive and not nice service.
Oh how I wish we had a place like this in our neighborhood in London. Has everything we wish for in a French bistro. Merci!
Went there on recommendation lovely food great atmosphere reasonably priced had a lovely evening
It was fabulous food... excellent ambience
Definitely will be back x
I went there twice, both times for lunch. The food is ok, tastes good, but doesn't blow my mind. PV is supposed to be one of the best (French) restaurants in Oxford. I find it a bit overrated, but would still recommend a visit.
On vas dire? Parfait! Super! Magnifique! Really good French dishes, good variety of side dishes, and they are nice enough to provide gluten free things! Highly recommended!
Fab food, great service, excellent value...book early
Absolutely excellent! Beautiful food and fantastic service can't wait to go again!!!
I went here with a big after term group. The cheese souffle was amazing. I had the chicken, but got to try several plates. If I were to pick again, I'd do the vegetarian risotto. It was delicious. I also heard great things about the mussels from my friends. The deserts were all good, but the creme brulee was the best one I tried.
I also felt like the venue didn't have great accoustics, compared to our numbers. I wish I could have heard everyone a little better.
I'd definitely go back, but I'd take a smaller group next time.
Still going after all these years... the service is slow and unhappy, but the food is surprisingly good. Don't touch the house wine though.
Great food, great value. Best place for dinner in Oxford
I love going to Pierre Victoire, definitely one of my favourite places to eat in Oxford. The food is delicious, the welcome is very friendly and if you are looking for a pre-theatre menu the value is incredible.
