I stay at the Penn Stater once a year for a conference. It's always nice to come back. There's plenty of parking & the rooms are clean, & staff is very accommodating. My only complaint would be the bathrooms could use an update, but most importantly they're always clean, it's not a huge deal.

I attended the Penn Stater for a conference recen...

I attended the Penn Stater for a conference recently so this will be a thorough review of the hotel facilities:

Conference Space - it's a little confusing at first to navigate the conference room section of the hotel but after day 1 it became easier and the signage is pretty good to help get you on your way. Sections are fairly spread apart so you will get your exercise walking back and forth but I personally didn't mind that. The rooms are very large and comfortable. However if you are sensitive to cold blasting A/C I recommend dressing in several layers. I did just that but was still cold.....brrrrrrr! But this is not an unusual attribute for hotel meeting rooms. I found WIFI to be a bit tricky to work with. In some sections of the hotel it would work fine while in others I had to toggle various settings on my phone to get it work. Certain website certificates would not work however regardless what I tried. It could have been just my phone but I noticed in one of the workshops I attended the presenter was unable to connect to the internet as well so perhaps it wasn't just me! The food was 4 star level. Massive lunch buffet with more options that I could sample along with a big dessert buffet with all kinds of cakes and cupcakes, pies, etc. Truly heaven for a chocoholic like me. The breakfast buffet was equally well appointed with options ranging from cereal, eggs, and various pastries. The break area w/snacks between workshop sessions was also a nice touch, and included a wide variety of soft drink options. If you attend a conference at the Penn Stater you won't leave hungry!

Legends Pub - this was the only restaurant I tried on site and it didn't disappoint. I had a tasty prime rib sandwich and it was very reasonably priced. The bartender who waited on me was friendly and pleasant.

Rooms - My room (standard double bed) was nothing extravagant or fancy but it was very clean, well appointed and got the job done. One thing I like about this hotel is that each room contains a mini fridge. This is a very nice feature as I like to store cold water with a few snacks and was able to do that without hassle. The bed was super comfortable. Best sleep I've had in a hotel in a long time. The room was a bit dated and renovations would certainly enhance the appeal of the place, but this did nothing to detract from my stay. I would also add it was very quiet - maybe the hotel gets more rowdy during weekend PSU football games but I found the quiet to be very relaxing.

Fitness Center/Pool Area - this is the part of the hotel that stood out for me the most. The fitness room is quite large for a hotel and had an ample amount of newer equipment so I got some very good workouts in. The swimming pool was very clean with plenty of towels. Always plenty of towels everywhere which was great! The water was definitely on the chilly side but this is pretty standard for a lap pool. Adjacent to the pool is a jacuzzi which was a nice touch. The water wasn't too hot either which was nice as well. There is a large locker room adjacent to the fitness room/pool. This is something not a lot of hotels offer so I was impressed. It had several towels and plenty of room to change along with showers. It's very convenient to have this since I had to check out at 11:00 A.M. but was still able to use the facilities later in the day prior to my departure.

Shuttle Van - Again this was a very nice touch. The free courtesy van will take you anywhere within 5 minutes and I made extensive use of it throughout my stay. Shuttle drivers were friendly and polite.

In summary, I fully recommend this hotel. There were a few minor issues but overall it's very reasonably priced in terms of the amenities being offered.

A very nice hotel well worth the atmosphere for any Nitanny Lion fan, parent, student, or visitor. The conference center is wonderful for professional meetings and conferences. From the moment you walk in, they tell you clearly that "We are...Penn State."

I was able to visit the Penn Stater for an educational forum. As this was my first visit, all I can say it that I was extremely impressed with their conference facilities. The space and facilities that were provided were very effective in engaging hundreds of people in one uniform discussion. In addition the lunch and reception areas were well prepared with good food and drinks. I will definitely look forward to returning.

The Penn Stater is in town and is very busy this time a year. As it is time to graduate, parents come to pick up their kids. They stay at the Penn Stater because it is convenient. It is a very clean hotel with really nice employees.

The Good: Friendly staff, nice facility, big rooms.

The bad: I dropped my pen and it rolled under the bed skirt. When I lifted the bed skirt up, my pen was lying next to a clump of wadded up tissue paper. If they did a thorough job cleaning the room, the TP would have been an easy find. They obviously need to do a better job cleaning.

Security Risk!!!

Security Risk!!!
On Monday at some point when I was in a conference, my door was left propped open with the security latch (by housekeeping or maintenance). I called the front desk in the 5pm hour to report it. There was no response from a manager, so I followed up Tuesday afternoon by going to the front desk. Kerry assured me that he was to discuss with housekeeping. He did not follow up with me until Wed at 12:50pm.
1. There was no sense or urgency to address the issue.
2. The apology text from Kerry included an "if" the door was left open.
3. I felt like I was an annoyance instead of the hotel recognizing the seriousness of the security fail.
4. I was never contacted by the General Manager.
5. As far as The Penn Stater Hotel was concerned, I paid my bill and no further follow up was needed.

This is a good place to stay. Came here on a conference and was pleasantly humored by the amenities. The standard room is not the best, because the bathroom is really tiny, but it's good. The food was good at The Legends Pub. Another feature is their lap pool, which I estimated at about 40 feet long- good enough to get some exercise. They also have a functionally equipped fitness center-not the best, but good enough to get by. The layout of the hotel is also nice and open, with ample sunlight. Overall, I think it is really good for the area it is in!

Nice place to stay with good amenities like a refrigerator and free coffee and tea. The hotel lobby and restaurants are great, but the rooms -- though pleasant and clean -- are outdated. The free shuttle service to-and-from the airport was excellent; my flight was delayed two hours and the driver was there to meet me at the airport right on time (since they monitor your flight numbers). However, the shuttle is not so great for getting around town (since airport runs take precedence), so plan to use ride-sharing apps or rent a car if you have to leave the hotel.

The service was good and we were able to get a table right away. When things seemed a little busy, another waitress came over to assist us. They got our drink orders and food orders. Our drinks came out very timely. Then our burgers weren't more than 5-8 minutes later. My burger came out just right, was hot, and had lots of flavor. Although my dad's had some red in it, we were able to tell the waitresses and they took it back and cooked a new burger for him. Then, I'm guessing it might have been a manager, he brought my dad's fries back out to him while he waited for his burger and the gentleman apologized for the first undercooked burger. Once they brought out the new burger, it was cooked right and my dad enjoyed eating it. The restaurant itself was clean and kept in order. During our stay, one of the TVs at the bar got really loud. When we asked the waitress, she went over and took care of the problem.

This is a nice hotel, but it is showing its age. The carpeting needs to be replaced and the rooms could use a good refreshing as well. The furniture in the room was looking very tired too. On the bright side, the front desk staff was very friendly and the Legends Restaurant in the hotel was awesome.

It's in a nice secluded location. I did not stay in the hotel, I had reservations for the restaurant section of the Penn Stater but when I walked in, it was very clean and the employees were helpful when asked. The restaurant was small and the food was a bit pricey but the food quality was excellent. The servers are very polite and provided wonderful service. I had a pleasant dining experience.

This is my preferred hotel when visiting State College. Location is slightly inconvenient, but there is a free shuttle as well as a free bus line for getting to and from campus if you don't not have a car. Rooms are clean and we'll appointed. Hotel restaurant is decent. Staff is friendly and helpful.
