Fabulous service, clean confortable rooma, delicious food and do much more!
Facilities are very professional and the staff are welcoming and friendly.
Lovely spaces, nice atmosphere. Convenience of proximity with rural feel.
Penn Stater conference room was nice and very accommodating.
Fast and easy check-in and check-out. Comfortable rooms and a great staff.
Great food. Great service. I've attended various conferences here and every single one has been a great experience.
I stay at the Penn Stater once a year for a conference. It's always nice to come back. There's plenty of parking & the rooms are clean, & staff is very accommodating. My only complaint would be the bathrooms could use an update, but most importantly they're always clean, it's not a huge deal.
Always a great experience. The staff is phenomenal.
The service at the restaurant at the PennStater is terrific. The buffet is always fresh and with two options, light or full buffet, you can choose what you need.
Hotel is okay. Dated, shower was old with the drain insert hanging out and mold in the crevices. Could use a facelift.
Excellent place to stay. Meeting rooms are very nice.
I went to attend a corporate dinner celebrating our store as store of the year. We had a nice buffet style Italian themed dinner, the food was great the place was amazing and best of all the help was very accommodating
I attended the Penn Stater for a conference recently so this will be a thorough review of the hotel facilities:
Conference Space - it's a little confusing at first to navigate the conference room section of the hotel but after day 1 it became easier and the signage is pretty good to help get you on your way. Sections are fairly spread apart so you will get your exercise walking back and forth but I personally didn't mind that. The rooms are very large and comfortable. However if you are sensitive to cold blasting A/C I recommend dressing in several layers. I did just that but was still cold.....brrrrrrr! But this is not an unusual attribute for hotel meeting rooms. I found WIFI to be a bit tricky to work with. In some sections of the hotel it would work fine while in others I had to toggle various settings on my phone to get it work. Certain website certificates would not work however regardless what I tried. It could have been just my phone but I noticed in one of the workshops I attended the presenter was unable to connect to the internet as well so perhaps it wasn't just me! The food was 4 star level. Massive lunch buffet with more options that I could sample along with a big dessert buffet with all kinds of cakes and cupcakes, pies, etc. Truly heaven for a chocoholic like me. The breakfast buffet was equally well appointed with options ranging from cereal, eggs, and various pastries. The break area w/snacks between workshop sessions was also a nice touch, and included a wide variety of soft drink options. If you attend a conference at the Penn Stater you won't leave hungry!
Legends Pub - this was the only restaurant I tried on site and it didn't disappoint. I had a tasty prime rib sandwich and it was very reasonably priced. The bartender who waited on me was friendly and pleasant.
Rooms - My room (standard double bed) was nothing extravagant or fancy but it was very clean, well appointed and got the job done. One thing I like about this hotel is that each room contains a mini fridge. This is a very nice feature as I like to store cold water with a few snacks and was able to do that without hassle. The bed was super comfortable. Best sleep I've had in a hotel in a long time. The room was a bit dated and renovations would certainly enhance the appeal of the place, but this did nothing to detract from my stay. I would also add it was very quiet - maybe the hotel gets more rowdy during weekend PSU football games but I found the quiet to be very relaxing.
Fitness Center/Pool Area - this is the part of the hotel that stood out for me the most. The fitness room is quite large for a hotel and had an ample amount of newer equipment so I got some very good workouts in. The swimming pool was very clean with plenty of towels. Always plenty of towels everywhere which was great! The water was definitely on the chilly side but this is pretty standard for a lap pool. Adjacent to the pool is a jacuzzi which was a nice touch. The water wasn't too hot either which was nice as well. There is a large locker room adjacent to the fitness room/pool. This is something not a lot of hotels offer so I was impressed. It had several towels and plenty of room to change along with showers. It's very convenient to have this since I had to check out at 11:00 A.M. but was still able to use the facilities later in the day prior to my departure.
Shuttle Van - Again this was a very nice touch. The free courtesy van will take you anywhere within 5 minutes and I made extensive use of it throughout my stay. Shuttle drivers were friendly and polite.
In summary, I fully recommend this hotel. There were a few minor issues but overall it's very reasonably priced in terms of the amenities being offered.
Great location and place to hold professional events
Went with coworkers for the lunch buffet. The atmosphere was OK, but the food was very good.
The location is close enough to downtown that everything is easily accessible. They provide a free shuttle to and from town. The rooms were nice and the food was good
Visited here a few times, very easily accessible and have always enjoyed my experiences whether I'm staying for the night or I'm attending an event for work.
Great place for work events. Immaculate, good food & bar, & the staff is always wonderful. Wish it was a little closer to campus though
No overnight stay, only brunch. The food was phenomenal and the service was excellent
I attended cocktail hour and reception for my friend's wedding. The facilities were very clean and the staff was very professional.
Clean rooms and good food. All employees are very nice and happy to help
Excellent conference facilities. Reasonable good food. Expensive catering.
I stay once a year for a conference. I love the accommodations.
A very nice hotel well worth the atmosphere for any Nitanny Lion fan, parent, student, or visitor. The conference center is wonderful for professional meetings and conferences. From the moment you walk in, they tell you clearly that "We are...Penn State."
I was there for a conference on dental composites today the room was nice and comfortable the food was exceptional and the desert was out of this world
Good venue for a professional conference. Great lunch!
I was able to visit the Penn Stater for an educational forum. As this was my first visit, all I can say it that I was extremely impressed with their conference facilities. The space and facilities that were provided were very effective in engaging hundreds of people in one uniform discussion. In addition the lunch and reception areas were well prepared with good food and drinks. I will definitely look forward to returning.
The Penn Stater is in town and is very busy this time a year. As it is time to graduate, parents come to pick up their kids. They stay at the Penn Stater because it is convenient. It is a very clean hotel with really nice employees.
The Good: Friendly staff, nice facility, big rooms.
The bad: I dropped my pen and it rolled under the bed skirt. When I lifted the bed skirt up, my pen was lying next to a clump of wadded up tissue paper. If they did a thorough job cleaning the room, the TP would have been an easy find. They obviously need to do a better job cleaning.
The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional.
Friendly professional staff with clean rooms. I stayed here for a conference and everything was easy to find. Quiet restful stay.
Security Risk!!!
On Monday at some point when I was in a conference, my door was left propped open with the security latch (by housekeeping or maintenance). I called the front desk in the 5pm hour to report it. There was no response from a manager, so I followed up Tuesday afternoon by going to the front desk. Kerry assured me that he was to discuss with housekeeping. He did not follow up with me until Wed at 12:50pm.
1. There was no sense or urgency to address the issue.
2. The apology text from Kerry included an "if" the door was left open.
3. I felt like I was an annoyance instead of the hotel recognizing the seriousness of the security fail.
4. I was never contacted by the General Manager.
5. As far as The Penn Stater Hotel was concerned, I paid my bill and no further follow up was needed.
A nice hotel and conference center. Food is better at Legends thanks the Garden.
This is a good place to stay. Came here on a conference and was pleasantly humored by the amenities. The standard room is not the best, because the bathroom is really tiny, but it's good. The food was good at The Legends Pub. Another feature is their lap pool, which I estimated at about 40 feet long- good enough to get some exercise. They also have a functionally equipped fitness center-not the best, but good enough to get by. The layout of the hotel is also nice and open, with ample sunlight. Overall, I think it is really good for the area it is in!
The staff is wonderful, food service out of this world, and the food selection and quality, spectacular. Sunday brunch in the
Gardens Restaurant is a must.
I was there for a technology show so I can't comment on food or service but it's a very nice place
Delicious Sunday brunch. Upscale spread at affordable cost.
Nice place to stay with good amenities like a refrigerator and free coffee and tea. The hotel lobby and restaurants are great, but the rooms -- though pleasant and clean -- are outdated. The free shuttle service to-and-from the airport was excellent; my flight was delayed two hours and the driver was there to meet me at the airport right on time (since they monitor your flight numbers). However, the shuttle is not so great for getting around town (since airport runs take precedence), so plan to use ride-sharing apps or rent a car if you have to leave the hotel.
The service was good and we were able to get a table right away. When things seemed a little busy, another waitress came over to assist us. They got our drink orders and food orders. Our drinks came out very timely. Then our burgers weren't more than 5-8 minutes later. My burger came out just right, was hot, and had lots of flavor. Although my dad's had some red in it, we were able to tell the waitresses and they took it back and cooked a new burger for him. Then, I'm guessing it might have been a manager, he brought my dad's fries back out to him while he waited for his burger and the gentleman apologized for the first undercooked burger. Once they brought out the new burger, it was cooked right and my dad enjoyed eating it. The restaurant itself was clean and kept in order. During our stay, one of the TVs at the bar got really loud. When we asked the waitress, she went over and took care of the problem.
Was there for a wedding and it was a beautiful venue with amazing food and staff!
Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. They even had a shuttle bus to and from the Bryce Jordan Center for a concert I was attending. I will definitely be back.
The conference area was very nice and luxurious. The food served for lunch and dessert was excellent
Rhe Penn State Hotel is a nice hotel associate with Penn State Univesity. I have no personally stayed at the hotel but have attended many professional events there at the hotel that we're all nicely staffed and very well planned. Food is awesome!
Service was subpar, and prices were not reflective of the venue
Clean rooms, nice pool and fitness center, good food at the resturants. Very friendly staff.
The Penn Stater has been a great player to stay and gather for a conference. Great food in the restaurants, very friendly staff, good wifi, nice rooms, you name it
This is a nice hotel, but it is showing its age. The carpeting needs to be replaced and the rooms could use a good refreshing as well. The furniture in the room was looking very tired too. On the bright side, the front desk staff was very friendly and the Legends Restaurant in the hotel was awesome.
Clean and organized. Adequate free parking. Friendly staff. Insufficient restroom facilities for large conferences.
It's in a nice secluded location. I did not stay in the hotel, I had reservations for the restaurant section of the Penn Stater but when I walked in, it was very clean and the employees were helpful when asked. The restaurant was small and the food was a bit pricey but the food quality was excellent. The servers are very polite and provided wonderful service. I had a pleasant dining experience.
Beautiful hotel, friendly staff. A few amenities the front desk staff didn't mention but learned about them from the housekeeper.
This is my preferred hotel when visiting State College. Location is slightly inconvenient, but there is a free shuttle as well as a free bus line for getting to and from campus if you don't not have a car. Rooms are clean and we'll appointed. Hotel restaurant is decent. Staff is friendly and helpful.
I was in Dean's hall for a professional meeting. The facility is very nice and has options to accommodate varying size groups. Very nice and well run establishment.
Business trip, great stay, wonderful service. Large facility
I attended a conference during my most recent stay and everything was great as usual. The service is fantastic, the rooms are clean with modern amenities. I always look forward to my stay.
Having rooms available would have been very convenient
The hotel is good for conferences but if you are in just to go to a game I would like a more downtown hotel. The rooms are a weird old thing.
The location was very clean and professional looking and staff was very helpful
Great experience! They are super accommodating and well staffed.
Good conference meeting spaces. A nice little restaurant too.
Nice hotel. Best part of staying here is free local shuttle. Josh was a great guide and all around good guy.
