Great amenities and location. But it could have been better. All "first world" problems but when you pay for and want 5 stars, the experience should be 5 stars. Cons: 1) poor concierge service. Arranged a Friday night chocolate experience for kids with verbal confirmation at least 2 weeks in advance. On Friday, we confirmed again only to be told we weren't listed...but..we could "show up" and maybe someone would cancel. Gauche. We were informed by front desk that they "would look into it". Nothing happened. 2) in room Nepresso machine didn't work 3) bathroom cold, no separate climate control. Not even a simple heat lamp found in Econo Lodges. 4) The most disappointment was poor staff attitudes. We were just a number. Concierge terrible. The Lobby waitress should have been working at McDonalds. The waitress at Pierre Gourmet was preoccupied with her own coffee break (clock watcher) that portions of our order were incorrect. In short, Staff did nothing to gain our respect or loyalty. So, when in Chicago next month or the month after with business clients, we are staying at the Omni. On a positive note, Mad Max at Shanghai Terrace was an excellent server.

This is my place to workout and swim. What more could a lady want than to go to the Pennisula Spa everyday. Great staff and amenities. Plus the walk through the lobby everyday is still special even after doing it almost daily. This is a beautiful hotel.

Meh - that sums up my experience at the Spa. I've been to many Spa's around the world and this one for the price was not worth it. I felt rushed and I thought my technician was just okay and not very luxury service oriented. I also thought she was more about selling the products than letting me relax and enjoy my service. The women working the front desk aren't very nice either. They're answering the phones and rushing around, not very welcoming, and never smiling. Skip this one - there are better Spas in Chicago.

Great Spa. Just wish the relaxing room was closed in and quite with no traffic. But once you are in your private room, absolutely wonderful!

Beautiful facilities, lots of amenities and awesome service. The hot stone massage is highly recommended! The pool is also really nice, with places to lie outside in the sun. You can order food to the pool area as well. We had a very nice time!

*Update: Thank you to Susie, Spa Director, for reaching out and addressing my feedback. I've been back since the last visit and the experience was more consistent with my very first visit, which was also a positive experience. Looking forward to returning. The staff was friendly, attentive, professional, and the facilities are nicer than most of the other hotel spas in the area. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy most of the massage session, as the therapist seemed untrained and was running her elbows against my bones rather than the muscle areas. Disappointed to have splurged over $450 on a couples massage that felt like it was performed by an untrained therapist for our one year anniversary. Also, in the relaxation room where we hung out before the massage, the other guests walking through were extremely loud. It would have been nice if the staff made them aware that it's a quiet area. Finally, there was no attendant in the locker room as I was told to expect to show you to your locker and provide additional instructions.

Was a guest at the Peninsula hotel this past weekend. I had one service on a Sunday (Holistic Pedicure) and one service this morning (Khushali Journey). Here are the highlights: Sunday - the pedicure was very nice, the therapist was warm and welcoming, but the nail room was kind of cramped. There was also a lot of outside noise from the hallway, it is on the same level as the pool so a lot of traffic. The relaxation room with the cozy chairs in the picture was very nice with some light snacks. However, there is a large window overlooking the pool. This would be nice but there were loud children jumping in and out of the pool and the noise carried into the relaxation room. It filled the relaxation and overall spa vibe . Also, the locker room is shared with visitors using the pool. There was A LOT of foot traffic going through the locker room including wet children. Truthfully, the whole thing was less than ideal. I almost didn t keep my spa appointment for the following day as I didn t want to have a similar experience. But I am SO glad I kept it! Monday - I had the two hour Khushali journey which entailed a foot and body scrub, lymphatic massage and oil treatment. The whole experience was 5+++ stars! Would recommend 100%. My husband was also able to schedule a last minute deep tissue massage this morning and he was it was fantastic. He is hard to please when it comes to getting deep enough pressure and he said only good things. The spa and pool was much quieter, most likely because it was during the week. The lesson here was, don t book a spa appointment on the weekend if you can avoid it. We are hoping to return to the Peninsula over the summer and plan to re-visit the spa.

The therapist were amazing. However, the spa is loud and very uninviting. The pool area is full of children that have to go through the spa and you hear them while in the relaxation area. Guest are not reminded to keep the noise down, so there are loud conversations and cackling destroying your spa experience. Honestly, I have had better experiences at Massage Envy. The management was quick to respond to complaint but there is very little they can do to stop the noise from the pool and children passing through without a redesign. Really a shame to see a 5 Star Hotel letting lesser competitors upstage them. Choose the Waldorf Spa over The Peninsula Spa.

Booked a massage for Friday as I received a gift of a 60 minute massage! Very excited as I wanted to relax by the pool for a little bit during these stressful times. Unfortunately, the steam room is not accessible due to COVID and unless you book 2 hours of spa service (1 hour massage was already 258 dollars) you aren't allowed to go on the terrace or use pool. I can't return the gift card, sadly, and preferred the gift here so I could use the amenities but I am unable to use them. Next time check ahead to make sure you are allowed to use the facilities-- the Four Seasons allows use of the entire spa facility with any purchase.

While the therapists here are generally excellent, it is the ignorant and incompetent front desk and reservations staff (including managers) who have made the visits here to the spa a stressful, ultimately miserable experience. Listen to the reviewers here who say staff at the Peninsula do nothing to win your respect or loyalty; they clearly don't care about the customer experience, they lack basic professionalism and they engage in gauche behavior. Trust me, I've been here seven times in as many years for 15 very over-priced services. The last two visits were my last! The Pen Spa used to be top-notch, customer experience oriented facility, but now is a center for careless provision of third rate services for profit, with the utmost greedy approach, lacking any basic charm and decency. This is a spa that makes it stressful to make an appointment, to be organized and prevents a restful experience. The workers at reservations/spa desk are completely inauthentic and provide insincere apologies like they are reading off a script. They offer you free use of spa facilities as compensation: you should know the use of facilities are already included in the price of your service. Save your money and save yourself a headache and avoid these obnoxious people at the Peninsula spa. They are extremely arrogant and clearly don't care. They believe they can inflict their stupidity on their customers without consequences and accountability and apparently they're getting away with it! Clearly, things are getting worse and Peninsula management does nothing to improve. Shame on you, Peninsula!
