Probably the longest wait time ever. Sat there for 5 hours with my four year old while he was sick just for them to not check him for anything even though he had a fever. Told me I should have his primary deal with it. I took him in there because he was running a fever of 104 and was acting weird! Found out later he had an ear infection.

As a visitor to the hospital I had found it very clean and easy to navigate. The patient I was visiting had a good experience, however, a female nurse at the nurse's desk and the man who delivered food were very rude to me. Additionally, I actually watched a female nurse berate a male nurse who was sitting in her chair when she wan't even in the area.

I do have to commend the workers at the 1615 Bistro cafeteria. Exceptional service and very friendly! The cafeteria deserves 5 stars.

As for the decor in the hospital, they really need to upgrade the main lobby and the chapel. Very 70's looking and it felt sterile and cold. The hospital could definitely use a warmer atmosphere, especially for patients and family/friends who are in crisis. Management should realize that the environment does make a difference in how people feel.

My husband and I have received excellent care at St. John's. Caring, helpful staff, quick to respond to questions and needs. The hospital is clean with comfortable waiting areas. No complaints.

Very dirty (I took a friend to the 4th floor for a medical issue and the room she was put in was filthy), long wait time and highly contagious infection running rampant. I am frightened when I have to go there. They even had a report in the paper about the out of control infection at our hospital The worst in the state.

Every experience I have had with PeaceHealth has been excellent, with everyone from health care workers to the administrative staff providing wonderful care and support. One of many examples is the yeoman effort of my primary care provider Ms. Andrea Strid. She personally called me on a Friday evening, after normal working hours, to provide me test results. In my several decades of life, I have never had a care provider do that. The electronic medical records provides a seamless way to instantaneously share medical results, again a huge plus for the Center. Communication with patients is excellent. After seeing a Dr. recently, he took the time at the end of my appointment, to summarize, point by point, the results of our discussion, once again, a first for me. I suspect the vast majority of patients have had positive experiences, but unfortunately don't take the time to give a simple "Thanks for a job well done."

This is not with the the emergency room. I got great care there for a laceration to my hand. The nurses and DR where amazing. This is with trying to schedule a follow up visit with the lakefront clinic to get the stitches removed. Called to make the appointment and was told they can not see me. They said I have to call Keizer for the after care which my insurance does not cover Keizer also the number for Keizer was not the right one. So I am at a loss for trying to get Care from this place. This is the second time I have been denied medical care from the price health lakefront clinic

I came here because I had a rather alarming rash and was from out of town. The service here was horrible, I waited for an hour in line before even being checked in, followed by a 3 hour wait to be seen. When I was finally seen I talked to a "doctor" for approximately 2 minutes. Over the course of these 2 minutes there was a very impressive "You have a rash" diagnosis and then I was sent on my way with a recommendation to get benadryl(Which I already tried, and told them I tried it and it didn't work). Over the next month I was smacked with a $150 doctors bill, followed by a $600 hospital bill(After a $50 co-pay). I am amazed this is still in business because I'm surprised others have not gotten wise to this yet. Do not go here, find an alternative, this place is a criminal operation that does not respect or care about its patients.

The out-patient facilities and staff are good. In a separate review, I gave my Peace Health out-patient primary care doctor 5 stars. I think she deserves 5 stars and out-patient facility 4 stars, but since that wasn't an option, I gave my out-patient primary care 5 stars. I give the excellent cafeteria food and staff 5 stars.

However, this review's star rating is about emergency room and in-patient facilities and care, which I have had wildly varying experiences with. I struggled with how many stars to leave in this review. Staff varies wildly from 1 to 5 stars, but 3 stars would be a good average for staff. The beds are torture devices deserving 1 star. Overall, I felt this review of ER and in-patient should be 2.5 stars, but that's not an option. So I was generous and gave 3 stars, but 2.5 stars is how I really feel.

Peace Health ER beds/gurneys are extremely uncomfortable. If I lie on one for an hour, it becomes very painful for my back. Other hospitals' ERs have more comfortable beds/gurneys. The ER staff and doctors are hit and miss. Some good. Some terrible. ER experience will depend on the luck of which staff and doctor you get.

The in-patient experience is similar to ER experience. Very uncomfortable beds that become painful within hours made my back hurt so bad that I couldn't sleep for 2 days I was there. The in-patient staff is some good, some bad). On the bright side, it seemed like more than half the in-patient staff were good.

Overall I give PH 3 stars in this review of their ER and in-patient care. PH outpatient care is good, possibly excellent, but that's another topic for another review.

When my neck was broken in a car accident and I was brought in by ambulance strapped to a hard stretcher board. After checking my vitals and taking X-rays, the ER staff put me in a back room and left me unattended for 3 hours and seemingly forgot me, until I started screaming. When I first started screaming, staff callously ignored me and kept walking by the open door to my room. When a staff member finally checked on me, he looked at my X-rays and discovered my neck was broken. After that they make a serious effort to help me. I was there another 3 hours before being released in a neck collar with no pain meds and a written prescription. All pharmacies in town were closed by that time. So no pain meds until the next day when my family went to pharmacy to get prescription filled. That was worst night of my life.

On another occasion, I had stepped on a nail and got prompt quality care at the ER.

On another occasion, I was having chest pains (I have a history of heart failure) and ER staff gave me prompt quality care.

On another occasion, I was having chest pains and ER staff (different doctor this time) gave me almost no care at all. All staff did was take my BP and heart rate. Nothing else. Seriously?

On another occasion, my dad went to ER with chest pain and he's known to have serious heart failure problems. He was in waiting room for an hour and all they did was take his blood pressure. He never even got into the ER. Just the waiting room. So after an hour in waiting room, my elderly mom helped him back to their car and drove him to Kaiser Hospital in Portland where he received prompt medical care. Peacehealth ER sent my dad a bill for $3500 for taking his blood pressure in the waiting room. Nothing else was done for him. No other exam. No treatment. He never got past the waiting room.

Going to Peach Health ER or in-patient facilities is a roll of the dice regarding which staff you get and the quality of care. The care might be good, or terrible. You never know until you get there. The only consistent thing is the gurneys and beds are terribly uncomfortable, and it get more miserable the longer you're there. Other hospitals have more comfortable gurneys and very comfortable beds. Why can't PH have consistent quality care and comfortable beds like other hospitals? If PH improved the beds that'd be a major improvement worthy of an additional star and would make me willing to be an in-patient at PH.

Love the staff there. Been to the family practice ...

Love the staff there. Been to the family practice with my kids, and my parents and brother go there for their medical needs. The only issue I have is with the pharmacy. My children are double insured and they sometimes refuse to even bill the primary insurance so that the secondary insurance kicks in. 90% of the time, the primary covers all the cost. Very rarely does the secondary have to be used but I never get a bill. So when they just ask me to pay up front in cash sometimes or send me a bill I know they didnt attempt to bill the primary. Then they won't listen. So I ask the insurance to call them and explain it to them so I don't get a bill. The primary insurance holder is an employee for one of the largest medical and insurace providers in the PNW so it's better than insurance sold to the public. People assume it's the insurance sold to the public. No matter what, there has to be an attempt to bill the primary. My daughter had the stomach flu and needed meds to stop her from throwing up. It was pay in cash or transfer the prescription to another pharmacy which takes 24 hours or more. Luckily the urgent care gave us extra meds to last a couple days. Never again.

This hospital and its staff was nothing short of amazing! From the woman who checked us in in the emergency room to the man that delivered my baby (Dr. Lee) they all did their jobs well and we're happy and helpful doing so! I came to PeaceHealth after being discharged from legacy with 1 oxycodone to 'help with my contractions' when I got to PeaceHealth I was dialated to an 8 and had my baby just 2 hours later! This is the hospital I will use from here on out. I have already switched my doctor and both of my son's doctors to ones that practice here. A special thanks to dr. Lee, my anesthesiologist I believe her name was Carol, and all the nurses that helped me and my new baby, lindsay Alyssa & Shirley you are all amazing. Keep up the wonderful work and I will spread the good word! This was on 8/5/18

This hospital has so many issues its sickening... First off they have people with blatantly serious issues just sitting in waiting room for hours. They dont care about you. They just run through the motions and that's it. Theres nothing personal about it. I've watched them force people out of the er who are actually experiencing serious medical problems and when I took that person to legacy salmon creek they immediately hospitalized them and treated the issue.

This hospital is extremly disappointing. I have worked in an emergency room in another hospital. So i notoced thkng maybe others did not.
I thought it was odd that that nurses were cleaning the rooms. Short staffed.... Ok. But that does not mean that these room can not be properly cleaned. I wayched the nurse clean the room i was going into. Quick swipe with a cleaning wipe on the gurney did not even change wipes and wipes the chair, sink, couter top, and equipment. Did not remove trash or linen. The floor was not swept or mopped. Even when visibly not clean.

The wait times are astounding, althought possibility of short staff i understand high turn over in this type of job. Although, we sat in the lobby for 2+ hours and in our room for 4 hours. No one checked on me asked how i was doing till the 4 hour mark.

And hygenically NO ONE not nurses not doctors not techs... No one washed their hands when coming in and out of patient areas. This is a hospital and the number one way to prevent the spread of germs.... And NO ONE is participating!!!

Tell me how i can feel safe being in a hosiptal like this? How can this place still be open to taking patients? Terrible place

Just went there for appendicitis and they had me waiting in the waiting room for over an hour.. didn't take my condition seriously. I was literally in a wheel chair hunched over. My husband, toddler, and I had to leave and go to a different hospital. We're new to this area and just drove to the nearest er. Wish I had read the reviews prior to going. I don't understand how a hospital like this can exist. How do employees go to work with zero pride? It's disgusting, a disaster. Never going back, and neither is my family. It should be shut down!

I was incredibly impressed with the care my mother received when she had a major heart attack. Doctors were friendly, took time to answer questions thoroughly and seemed to genuinely care not only about my mom but about me as a support person. Her care was thorough and we were informed every step of the way through an incredibly stressful event.

This has got to be the worst Emergency Department in the state. Before my grandfather passed away, This was the closest hospital to where he lived. The ER staff here were rude, inpatient and just generally not caring. We finally stopped coming here and drove a little further to Providence Centralia. MUCH better care and far more friendly. I would not recommend this ER to anybody. Terrible TERRIBLE service.

I even asked if I could give me something for the extreme pain I was experiencing and the gave 600 milligrams of Motrin(Are you joking omg)He offered to give me Tramadol and told me it would not make me drowsy however I refused knowing very well Tramadol does cause drowsiness and that would have put me in serious danger driving home!!This place is a nightmare and please consider going to Legacy in Portland they are a much better hospital

My first experience at such facility was in the ER. Staff in general tends to be rude &snobs. Been warned it's a death trap facility discriminating humans due to many factors, have been misdiagnosed in my past experience in ER and would prefer to suffer & die than be treated in this ward. Woman's clinic is the opposite!

My last ER visit was awful... I took a pic of my arm showing the bruise I got when my Nurse set up my IV. It took me over an hour, and asking 4-5 people who came into my room, just to get them to call my emergency contact person after the ambulance brought me in.

DR. Castenson was so rude! I brought our son in to have a rash checked and he told me the rash is normal. I'm sorry but a rash isn't normal. Then he told me to pull my ask over my nose and it was already over my nose the correct way and then he said" it was people like me who were making the coronavirus not go away." I was so upset!!!! I told him" I wasn't there to discuss Covid, I just wanted to talk about my son". Then he proceeded to ask why I drove to there hospital for treatment because there were other closer places I could go to. I will never see him again!!!!!!!

ABSOLUTELY the worst hospital I have ever been to....

ABSOLUTELY the worst hospital I have ever been to. I took my daughter in to Emergency for kidney stone pain. While waiting 3 hours to be seen. I noticed a young man came in who had cut his finger. He had wrapped it and was bleeding. They took him back took less then 15 mintues to see him and sent him home, No new bandage but the same one he came in with. Concerning my daughter's visit I had to speak up and say we would not leave without a second opinion and pain medication. I found it necessary to speak up for my daughter and her rights. One more thing I don't EVER want to hear a doctor say 3 times "I don't know", when asked a question about the medical condition at hand. By the way Dr. Jeffrey L. Shuster gave us that answer. I rather have driven the hour and 45 mintues to Kaiser Sunnyside then to go here. I wouldn't trust my life to anyone at this hospital. I will say my daughter eventually did pass the kidney stones. I also will end this by saying the ONLY person who was the ONLY Professional person, kind, understanding of the circumstance was Nurse Anna. This hospital needs a major overhaul. I saw at the very least 4 patients walk out of the Emergency area then to continue waiting . Happy I live in Oregon with the BEST hospitals in the state.

I have been admitted to St. John's twice in emergency situations, and I have to say, I have never received better or more compassionate care. I am not a wealthy person with great insurance, either, and yet the focus was on addressing my medical needs expediently and professionally. I was treated with total respect. I felt that all of my needs were met on every level at all times. The staff was amazing, kind, caring and considerate. I also witnessed other patients being tended to with the same respect and kind attention, even when they were grumpy in return. St. John's is a wonderful facility that treats the patient in totality--physically, emotionally, and yes, even financially in helping to find ways to assist with the bills, before and after. I would recommend them to anyone.

Went for my son's symptoms indicating appendicitis...

Went for my son's symptoms indicating appendicitis at 8:15pm. He was evaluated by a doctor and an ultrasound was performed. We were referred immediately to a pediatric surgeon in Portland (56min drive away) at around midnight. The Legacy Emanuel Medical Center (LEMC) did not trust St. John's data because the report indicated two different levels of IV fluid were given. After additional palpable testing was done by the pediatric surgeon, additional ultrasound tests to ensure that we were dealing with appendicitis. Turns out he actually had an infected lymph node.

My family incurred a sleepless night and additional medical bills because of St. John's medical staff ineptitude.

If you can go to a different hospital. In summary ...

If you can go to a different hospital. In summary the doctors will invalidate and gaslight you until the point where you start to question your own health even if you know something is obviously going on. I've been to this hospital frequently as it is one of the only hospitals in the town and I have several complex issues that require treatment if they get serious (Mitral valve regurgitation that requires heart surgery that's getting scheduled, Lupus, history of fluid around heart and lungs, arthritis, nephritis of kidneys, and a history of blood infections surrounding my heart.). I'm only going to share a few of my experiences at this hospitals ER the first involved pulmonary embolisms that laid undetected by them even after 3 or 4 admissions and several other health issues including valve regurgitation, difficulty breathing and I was treated for my pulmonary embolisms and sent home on elquis for a week but within the time frame of about a month I had the same symptoms but were worsening before they detected the lung clots the only reason they admitted me was my mouth and throat swelling and no other reason and it was "to see whats wrong with you". after one doctor came in and said I need to go to OHSU , then the other doctor acted in a big rush to throw me out and send me home despite the records of the doctor being in complete denial of them after I told him to read the records he was going to keep me for a day or two to see how bad it is or if it gets worse. then the third doctor straight up sent me home no ifs ands or buts. the very night I was sent home my throat began swelling again and I was sent to the aforementioned Peacehealth Southwest for care. It turned out I had a blood infection lupus spreading to kidneys my pulmonary embolilsms weren't really gone and I was basically drowning in fluid around my heart and lungs (I had similar symptoms of this thing they diagnosed at st johns and they refused to stop giving me IV fluid). Another experience I had was when I had swelling in my mouth and throat I was still able to breathe but I couldn't swallow fully and my jaw was jerking and spasming and it was painful they said they'd get the doctor (after 2 hours) and I was afraid of dying and said I didn't want to die. The nurses seemed bothered with my fear and instead of reassuring me they said "WHERE ARE You" I responded a hospital and she said "EXACTLY" it eventually went down after I fell asleep on its own without dr intervention as the medications don't really work as its not allergic its angeodemia. the third experience was with the psych ward which I have PTSD of and it triggers me to try to ask for any mental health help because of how I was treated here. The nurses are bothered with your existence the rooms look like jail cells, doctors treat patients like they're hysteric even doing treatment without telling the patient and the locked area Ive seen shaming, verbal insults and psychological abuse in this place it actually made me regret not killing myself and calling for help being in this hospitals area. Additional notes the doctors will seem like they don't care and will be in a rush to discharge you rather than actually help you. Many will refuse patient tests or any patient intervention in care (which is against their patient rights) and if you have medicaid they will turn you away without turning you away by discharging you without treatment and minimizing your symptoms.Another big thing they will do is mask your symptoms with opiates I've had this happen several times during my visit that they would just band aid my pain with opiates then discharge me. ask for painmeds once they will change their attitude towards you and treat you like a junkie. In conclusion do not go to this hospital under almost any circumstance. This hospital made me scared when a doctor says something is "fine" because many times that meant they found something but they don't want to tell me for idk what reason. After giving this review I might actually get discriminated in my care quality based on what I think about the hospital

Awful doctors here. Seriously drive to battleground. The doctors do not care about what patients are saying. I was sent home twice without proper care. Come to find out it was life threatening if I had not taken the drive to battleground, I could have died! This is in regards to ER doctors only. The rest of the staff was helpful and kind. But when you go to the ER the doctors are the ones who are suppose to know what the heck they are talking about. I will be putting in a formal complaint as well.

I have ben in this emergency room on several occasions over 10 yrs. And practically every time there has ben problems.
I was In for numbness in my whole body, I was white as a sheet. In short they done no EKG. I was there 5 hrs and they didn't find anything. I had to go back to my doctor. I wound up back at the hospital to do the EKG and get meds the very next mrning when my doctor feard I may be having a heart attack. I had a problem with my right ventricular. Easy fix with a EKG and a pill.
It has really blown my mind how the emergency staff there cause so many problems and are so rude. Even the security guards seem to pick people to watch and just wait for a problem.
