I want to say that a good place is not a icing on the cake, you don't need a jade food, but a carbon in the snow, a lot of peace of mind. Safe, strong human touch. It is the reason I want to recommend this place most. First of all, I arrived at Blenheim at 8 pm, it was dark, it was raining, I couldn't see the street sign, I couldn't tell the difference between the southeast and the north. Some inns have closed the door and can't check In, but their home has always lit a light for the lack of foreign travel. The boss is very enthusiastic. When I can't find a place, come out and pick me up. The next morning, the proprietress sent me to isite by the way. Secondly, I lost some things on the road, water bottles, glasses, skin care products, keys. Only in this house, my key was found back. The boss asked me to call me. I used to mistake my home key as a hotel key and went back. Very grateful, otherwise, If you are young, you can't go back home, or you have to spend money to re-key. A hotel is not only a place to rest, but also a place for information exchange. The enthusiastic and sensible proprietress gave me a lot of practical advice and help to me, for someone who has a side. Give great trust and support. I want to say not only gratitude. As the name of the hotel, peace haven, this is a safe haven. Give the tired people ease and enlighten the lost people. This is what I can't experience in a deluxe luxury hotel. Found in this strange low-key place is a fate. In this place, I feel the deep concern and love, trust and understanding of my compatriots. I am grateful to this inn that opened the door to me on a cold, dark and rainy night. I accepted this strange foreign tourist. The wanderers of all walks, welcome you to come here to rest your tired body and mind. The sincere smile and kindness of this inn will surely touch you and me inadvertently. Finally, I have a few advantages in this inn. Convenient transportation, 10 minutes walk from Isite, are all roads with street lights. You will not be afraid to walk at night. Very close to the gas station, suitable for people driving by car. There is a supermarket nearby, KFC, and it is convenient to eat. The boss is Chinese, warm and generous, and good communication. If you need some advice and guidance, you can find them.

As a french backpacker, I really enjoy this place where I stayed for a month. The people here are awesome, and it's very easy to find jobs, thanks to Lisa, the lady in charge, a very kindly person. I recommand this place for every people who want to stay in Blenheim and looking for job.

Worst Hostel i've Seen in nz! Don't Go there. Bathrooms, Bedrooms (Beds aswell), Kitchen and Lounge are very dirty. We didn't want to Cook or even touch anything in that filthy Kitchen. If possible i would rate it without a star.

Pros: Decent Wifi, friendly owner Cons: flies everywhere in kitchen, dirty and old mattresses, smelly sheets and duvet, dead bugs on bedroom walls, cockroaches under bed, loud partying most nights Don't stay here. Honestly one of the worst hostels I have ever stayed. The whole place just feels dirty and neglected. The kitchen truly had hundreds of flies roaming at all times. If you left food sitting for more than a few seconds then you would find multiple flies on it. The refrigerators stank of rotten food. I pulled out a tupperware with some moldy rice that must have been sitting in there for 6 months. No joke. I avoided my bedroom during the day because of the smell. There were dead mosquitoes and other bugs all over the walls. One night we found a cockroach run out from under the bed. My mattress must have had 1000 other people who've slept on it. You could see the dirt and sweat on the bottom side of of the foam. This place is in serious need of a deep cleaning. I think virtually any other backpacker in Blenheim would be better than Peacehaven, and considering that it's not any cheaper, there's really no reason at all to stay here.

Price is way to high for what you get. Only 1 out of 5 showers really works and the kitchen is a mess. Sadly most jobs in Blenheim are linked to hostels so we chose this one which turned out to be a terrible desicion. The promissed 42h work per week ended up being only around 2 full days per week. The owner doesn't care about anything as long as she gets her money. She even called us liars when we faced her with the problems. THE WHOLE THING IS A SCAM! The owner says you need to stay in the hostel to get the job but that is not true! The contractor is your employer, not the hostel. Don't waste your money here. The only plus is the wifi and the cat.

I can't believe what I am reading down there... PeaceHeaven Backpacker is an amazing place for backpacker that WANT to work. we called Kevin one evening , we were 5friends who was looking for work as soon as possible. He answer to us within 30 min and told us to start the day after and that there was plenty of work. Yes we have to take their accommodation but seriously worth it to have a clean and social place that you can call home after a hard day at work. If you don't like or fit with your job... they work with you to find something else that be more fitting. After travelling and harvest working in Australia for 3 years and 2 years in New Zealand and worked for many contractors that didn't care about their worker I can said that my mind have hanged since I am here. Only 2 weeks now but I would recommend that place to travellers that need a job and are ready to work at lease 5days a week because, Yes there is work and they need us! Fb. Carolina Mgk

Bad time in this hostel so durty. The room was very dirty and smelled rotten because no one has been throwing something in the fridge for few weeks. The bathroom and the kitchen was filthy that doesn't make you want to cook. Bad atmosphere, basically don't go there.

I didn't like this place at all. First of all we arrived and the outside of the building looks very messy, unfortunately we didn't have any other place to go to. I went inside and it was hard to figure out where the reception is, the staff that we talked to barely knew English, so it was hard to communicate, the lady showed us around and forgot to give us the room key, luckily I remembered to ask for it, which by the way you need to give a 10 dollar deposit, we were 3 people in and we got 1 key in-between us. When we got to the room at evening I got in the shower and it had a very low stream that barely got out, the water were cold then super hot then cold again then stayed freezing cold, I had to give up, by chance one of my partners got in a better shower that had a steady stream but unsteady temperature that was manageable to take a shower. The place is packed with flies and mosquitos. If you have an option to avoid this place the please do.

I stayed here because the owner offered me a job in the vineyards but I do not recommend this hostel at all !! It's very dirty In the kitchen you need to rewash the dishes, dead flies are hanging above your heads, everything is sticky, and the kitchen is equipped but everything is broken... The toilets and showers were disgusting... the whole hostel is fully cleaned only once a year, when the hostel is being privatised to welcome employees working for the same contractor and so if you were planning to stay there for longer, just forget it, the owner will ask you to leave (by offering you another option but of what I heard it was not really better...). And fortunately I was sleeping in my car because the room were really dirty... I don't know how people can sleep in there. The only good point, if I have to write one is that I met great friends there. So, eventhough you are looking for a job asap, avoid this hostel ! You can find way more better !

Totally overpriced for this occasion. Far too narrow, the cars are standing side by side like in a sardine can. It is loud and dirty. The train rushes no 10 meters away through what is loud animal. The showers and toilets are very small unventilated and dirty. In other words just disgusting !!! The Wi-Fi is available but completely overloaded with so many visitors. I can not recommend this place and hope not to fall even more on this place!

The PeaceHaven backpackers is the worst I have ever stayed in. It is dirty, messy and full of flies. Too many campers are allowed to use the disgusting facilities. The Manager doesn't care at all and just put me in an empty bed in a dorm because my booked bed was surprisingly already taken. The room was messy, dark and smelly. There is so much broken stuff everywhere. You can't really use the kitchen because there is barely anything to use and the equipment that was there is slimy and dirty. No one cleans the bathrooms or anything in this hostel at all. The cleaners quit, I heard. There is also a drunk walking around making me uncomfortable. But the most horrendous thing was, when I walked into my room in the evening there was already someone sleeping in my bed on my bedsheets and pillow! I had to wake this person up who didn't seem concerned at all and even wanted to trade my pillow for me giving him his bag of chips on the floor. I left the room laughing because I couldn't believe this absurd situation. Luckly, a friend of mine allowed me to share her bed. And after 10 there was still loud music and then even a man came into the female dorm and just lay in one of the beds. My friend was terrified but was not allowed to lock the door because no one ever does, so no one carries their key with them. I can't understand how people can actually stay here. I cried myself to sleep so disgusted I was. At least there were no bed bugs (I hope) but no white sheets... and I wouldn't trust them to wash the bedsheets...

Everything was moldy in the kitchen or not cleaned. My bed had nail clippings on there and the owner asked me if I would mind and said she would bring new bed sheets but never got them. My room smelled like a high-school changing room.

Not the best backpackers. Ok, its a working-hostel, but this should not be an excuse. The rooms are dirty and full of flies, the kitchen is a real mess, there is not even a rubbish bin or dish towels. So ni wonder that nobody cleans up. Everything is full with food, rubbish, beer bottles... The wifi was not working in my room. But, the owners are friendly.

I liked the staff here. Friendly and helpful. Room was ok. Toilets ok, showers could have been cleaner. Biggest complaint was that the other guests were maniacs on the booze and so noisy. Peacehaven is a misnomer. Hard to sleep before 3am on friday and saturday nights especially. If you are a boozehound party animal, you'll fit in nicely. If you like quiet, not so much.

If possible choose another hostel. We got a job successfully, but the hostel is in terrible shape. The kitchen is dirty, smelly and full of flies. Despite repeated requests, there have been no soap and toilet paper on the toilets for days. The courtyard is neglected and the carpet in the bedrooms has probably never been properly cleaned.

All around great place. Liza was an amazing host and helped me find a job for the day after I arrived. It has everything you could want for a hostel and is a good place to stay while your working. Showers where nice and warm, and the kitchen was a good size. Would definitely stay again when I need to start saving again.

I stayed here for two weeks. Lisa gave us a nice job on the vineyard. The other guests in the hostel are all nice and open. We spend most of our days after work together. The kitchen is big and had everything we needed. I had a great time.

I had to stay in this hostel to find work in Blenheim. Unluckily I got stuck in this place during the lockdown. I ve been in a lot of hostel around the world this one is hands down the worst I ve ever seen.. The only way of making it dirtier would be to empty the trash directly on the floor. Lisa the manager doesn t care at all about anything outside taking your money, My advice, RUN AWAY !

Pleasant accommodation, warm water, equipped kitchen, TV (netflix and other services will make your evening or movie more pleasant), common showers, parking at the accommodation, wi-fi (unfortunately not available in rooms but only in common areas and not very stable) without data limit and free of charge. Pleasant Chinese family run and I can recommend to as cheap accommodation.

Unfortunately this place deserves absolutely no stars, (but it wouldn t let me do this option). It was awful, so incredibly dirty, mouldy, freezing with no heating. Smelt disgusting in our room, found damp mouldy clothes in the cupboard. None of the bedding had been washed and there were boards under the foam mattresses so incredibly uncomfortable. Also there was a cockroach in the shower in our room. Dirty dishes under the sink. It honestly felt like we were in a third world country not beautiful NZ. For your own sanity and health and safety do not stay there.

I stayed here through my summer break and whilst I worked on the vineyards. I had a great time with easy access to work through the host's kindness combined with the nice facilities. I would recommend to any backpackers making there way down in Blenheim.

The facilities here is fair, got almost everything we need. The wifi is unlimited, just a littlw bit slow when everybody home browsing website or videos. But generally,we still love this place and hope will come back one day.

A horror. I feel sorry for the owner, but honestly this place should be closed. The dirt is indescribable, I have never seen so many flies in one place. The kitchen was the only thing that "safaba" since it was quite spacious and with many refrigerators. But with an awful smell. When we arrived we were each given a padding and a pillow, which looked terrible. The bed had a sheet that I bet my life that they never washed. It had many different hairs. I seriously thought about sleeping in the car, but since it was only a couple of hours, I put on a towel and slept anyway. I did not go directly to the bathroom. Blenheim is very small and there are few options, so I recommend you book early and that unless you have no other option (ANY OTHER OPTION), do not stay here.

place runs friendly lady, who helps to find a job in the area asap and understands if you're in struggle - it was very suprising to see this behavior in a place of short-term jobs where nobody cares about you... if you have a car you can park it inside, rooms are for four people, big kitchen that gets cleaned every night, washingmachines for 5$, six or seven shared showers and toilets...
