I have never written a review on a restaurant but Horrible horrible service very nasty waitress it was my birthday today so I decided to take my whole family here we were a group of 18 right off the bat we sit down and we were talking about getting rodizio the waitress tell us they don t have rodizio which was what we came for but we decided to give it a try anyways then everything went straight down hill from there she was giving us attitude the whole time for everything the food took almost 2 hours to come out from when we ordered it to the point all the foods were cold beside the Paella the steaks weren t even cooked to the right temps some came out burnt and others came out red nothing was right the waitress called the manger or owner don t know who he was didn t bother telling us since we were complaining and he even came out with attitude being all nasty with his shirt buttoned up half way very unprofessional, unfriendly staff the one waiter just kept rolling is eye every time we said something then they sang happy birthday to every table with a birthday mean while for me they just threw my cake down in its box and plates and walked away then to finish it up after all the bad service provided from the staff beside the one waiter that got screamed at for trying to do something nice for us, our waitress still included the 20 percent tip already into our bill so we couldn t decide for our selfs I would never come back to this restaurant again or recommend it to anyone stay away from Paulo s barbeque in south Plainfield

This is an extremely popular local place. It used to be a whole in the wall. Those profits have exploded and it so doing, the place is now a beautiful evening destination. A very big local success story. These guys are killing it. Great food. Great service. Simply executed. Congrats guys!!!

Love the food! It takes a little while to get the food but worth the slight wait for a food coma. I got the Portuguese Sirloin Steak with two eggs and I would recommend it. Portions are generous too.

Paulo s BBQ was absolutely the WORST customer service experience I've ever encountered! Maybe a month ago we pre-scheduled party of about 35 people. Many of us were excited about ordering "Rodizio" where they continue to bring you meat throughout the night. On the menu it says for one person it's $32.50, for two people $29.50/person, and 4-10 people its $25.50/person. We knew quite a few of us were ordering "Rodizio"; so we would probably fall into the $25.50 range. I asked the waiter to clarify if we fall into the $25.50 range since we had, at that point, 9 people oredering "Rodizio". The waiter says yes but to further clarify he goes and gets the owner of the restaurant, Paulo. Paulo confirms to me Yes your meal will be $25.50 . Afterwards they brought one big check, for over 35 people, which was ridiculous. Deciphering the check amongst such a large group was a headache. After going over the receipt we realized they charged each of the Rodizio customers $32.50. We were confused since this contradicted the menu and also what the manager specifically told me. We also realized we actually had 12 people who ordered Rodizio. We addressed it with the staff that brought our receipt. One waitress went back to tell the owner of our complaint. He then sends a message through her saying that in order to receive the $25.50 per person it would have had to be MORE than 10 people. But we said okay. If that s the case we should still qualify because we have 12 people who have ordered the Rodizio. The waitress repeatedly says "it's what the owner said, I'm just the messenger" while throwing her hands up in the air. Our response to her was Understandable, so can we please speak to the owner now? She went back several times to get the owner. He had us waiting for a very long time before coming out, as if he was afraid to defend what he said and we were not a priority. The fourth time the waitress went back for the owner, I saw the waiter that I originally spoke to. He confirmed what I was told at first was correct; it would have been $25.50 per person. Others people in my party immediately verbalized "that's not at all what that waitress was saying". So now we needed the owner s clarification between his two different explanations. The owner Paulo finally comes out and at this point he was still under the impression that we only had 9 people so his argument was that it would have to be more than 10 people for us to qualify for the $25.50 per person. We brought to his attention that we ended up having 12 people instead. In an Instant he switched up again and said well if it's more than 10 we can't do it, it would have to have been under 10 people We were stunned because he contradicted himself 3 times right before our eyes. We rebutted saying it does not say anything about that in the menu, which we had all read to make sure we did not overlook something. I asked, why did you specifically tell me that it was going to be $25.50 because we had enough people? And if that s the policy, considering the amount of confusion, why wouldn't you at least charge 10 of us the $25.50 and then the two extra people charge $32.50? He argued I m trying to run a business saying he wouldn't make a profit if he didn't charge us $32.50. I told him that he lied to me. His response was absolutely the most disrespectful response and business owner could ever give. Paulo says Why are you arguing about $5? I couldn t believe a business owner would say something like that to a customer it was the most disgusting remark I've ever heard. I responded Why are you as a business owner arguing about $5 and not worried more about better customer service? We spent around $1500 collectively at Paulo's. We were there for 4 and half hours. The reason I asked ahead of time was to avoid confusion and make sure it was worth it since you can't take any food home with "Rodizio". This was about principle. The owner is arrogant, pompous, greedy, disrespectful, deceitful and lacks integrity. Paulo s BBQ is the worst business I've ever seen.

This site is my number one place. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to this restaurant. everytime I feel like having a good lunch, this is the place that comes right away to my mind. very good and all sorts of food and a large list of dishes.great staff members, and nice atmosphere. Also, the expence is reasonable. I sent my friends to this restaurant with pleasure.

The best kept secret in new jersey! Service awesome, rodizio... not salty, you can taste all the wonderful meats... seasoned just right! Normally, I have to usually go to Newark but this place is above and beyond, better than anyone in Newark. Great job Paulo's!

I love the food from here. However, the last time my boyfriend and I tried to order over the phone the girl who picked up was very rude. My boyfriend was trying to explain what he wanted in Spanish and she kept responding in English(even though she speaks Spanish) and making the communication much harder than it needed to be. We ended up going to another Portuguese place. Try being nicer to your Spanish speaking customers.

Great place for eating out, having a drink, to go, or catering. Best for lunch time and cheap. Very tasty food with big portions. They have outside seating as well which makes it better during spring and summer. The to go area gets busy at times but if you call ahead you can be in and out quickly. They redesigned the outside which makes it look much better. The staff is very nice and very attentive.

The rodizio and their sangria is amazing, but drink too much if you plan on driving of course. I also got the chicken sandwich there too, which was really good as well. Getting the fries and rice makes it better.

My family took me here for Father s Day...nice atmosphere didn t know we had to make a reservation maybe because it was Father s Day, but luckily for we were able to sit outside without one which turned out to be great...the food was very good, very large portions...we couldn t finished it had to get a doggie bag...We got the grill red snapper, paella, garlic shrimp, cod fish fritters and beef ribs all very good, I think they left the snapper on the grill a little too long, but other than that very good...

Nice local spot to get your Portuguese Food fill. Fries, Rice and BBQ meats. Simple Home Cooked food. We came around closing on a weeknight and the owner welcomed us with open arms. We ordered the half chicken and ribs. Enough to share with 2 people. I enjoyed it. I don't have to go to Newark to get good Portuguese food now.

Definitely my first choice for lunch. Food is always great. Service is awesome. If you're ever in the South Plainfield area. Try them out. You won't be disappointed. Here's a picture of the Grilled Steak sandwich with fries.

One of the waiter offered me a espresso and I accepted. The waiter that was serving me looked at with an anger face because I had already asked for the check and now asked for the espresso! Do not recommend!

The worst food on a buffet I've ever experienced. I brought a colleague to eat with me and had to apologize for the horrible food. This place gives a bad name to those typically delicious Brazilian restaurants. Yet there were a lot of people there. Maybe I missed something?

The owner was very disrespectful and tactless, despite my previous patronizing of his establishment for over 20 years. I was very disappointed and dissatisfied with my service and appalled at the level of the owner's incompetence and lack of awareness of proper customer service. I would not recommend this place based off for my experience today and it is very unfortunate that I had to wait 2 hours for a take out order and was spoken to inappropriately by the owner Paulo.

Very good food with large portions. Lunch menu and prices are very reasonable. I would be interested in having dinner here. This is a good place for a business lunch and with quick service you can be in and out within an hour.

I used to love the classic chicken, ribs, and rice combo. I missed the way they used to cook in the old building. They way they made the rice and the fries was the best. Same with the meats. I wish they would cook the way they used to cook before. Now not anymore. The rice is not good. It is hard, no taste and too greasy. And the meats tasted like they were a little old. Please go back to the old rice and fries recipe.

This place is useless if it were good, it was open Saturday and Sunday I have arrived on several occasions with my family and we always find it closed, the worst that in Google it appears that it is open but when one arrives serrated horrible
