As a salon owner that has visited this campus on a few occasions, I'm impressed with the staff and operations, and most importantly the new talent that I consistently see working hard toward their new exciting careers!

My experience here is NOT quite what to expect. Don't get me wrong, nothing bad happened. I was basically wanting to share my services as a photographer and they were kind and gracious enough to let me do so, thank you.

TL:DR - You get what you pay for.

TL:DR - You get what you pay for.
I've been a client here for more than 5 years. When thinking about the service, I always consider the fact that 1) it is a school where people are learning how to do what I ask and 2) the cost of the services is deeply discounted because of #1. I usually spend about $35 on a routine color and now that I have the VIP Membership, I pay half that. I'd pay at least $65 at a regular salon for a root touch up.
I've had mixed results over the years - never a bad service, just some really great stylists and some who didn't listen so well. The best ones have usually been close to graduating the program, and I've learned how to express my ideas so my stylists understand what I want. So over the last year, I've always been happy with the services. As Mind-Reading is not part of the course instruction, clients need to be prepared to speak up if they think something isn't right or if they have a particular way they want something done - for me: sensitive head, specific method of blow dry, and not using styling products. In the washroom, if it feels like your stylist has not rinsed the dye from the hair by your neck, you have to speak up. If after the job is over, if you don't feel like the result is what you wanted, you have to be willing to say (in a polite way!), "This isn't what I asked for." You have to be willing to speak with a learning leader and maybe return within the next couple of days if needed. If this kind of close attention to detail is not what you envision for your hair appointment, then the school and its prices are not for you. I personally wouldn't pay to go elsewhere and don't fancy cleaning up the mess after doing it myself at home.

I have been coming to Paul Mitchell for the past 15 years or as long as it's been open. I found that trying to do all the services in one visit is too much for the stylist. Everyone is different and works at different paces especially if you have difficult hair to cut as I do! I have very long thick hair. It takes a while to cut and style. So I have learned that going in for a cut is separate that way I get a great cut and a style.
I come in for a color and then I get a free wash and style.
Or a highlight and then a wash and style.
The stylist will try very hard to please you and yes some wash better than others and they do sometimes forget to get throughly under my neck and I just remind them to please reach that spot it seems dry or still has shampoo in that area. But the massage is the best if you remind them to take their time.
Remember Don't come to the salon if you're in a hurry, that can stress your stylist, come for the experience and to help them learn and of what to expect from you.
Be patient and enjoy the pampering.

I enjoy this salon. I joined the discount club and that makes my visits incredibly inexpensive. I don't mind seeing different students during the appointments. I like a lot of the young ladies and I find the students to be very interested in perfecting their craft; I have never had a bad service here. I come for a color blow dry and flat iron. My only criticism is I would like the color to be permanent rather than semi permanent. My bath towels are taking on color every time I shower or wash my hair. I wear a hat at work and the color is all over my hats. Otherwise, I have no complaints.

Scam. I attended here 2016 to 2017. I was bullied and harassed by staff and students. They iver charge while teaching less than other schools. Save ur money. If u are an lgbt woman avoid this plave at all costs.

My appointment was at 9:15am... they finished at 5pm!!? I was the only client she had so that was insanely ridiculous. Almost 8 hours just for highlights.... I know it s a school and they were going to take longer than a normal salon but seriously? Eight hours?! Never again!

I've been going to Paul Mitchell East Bay for about 5 years and have NEVER had a bad cut or color. The stylists have always been professional in their work and their interactions with me. Most recently I had my black redone and my blue highlights updated. Couldn't be happier with Marissa's work!

April 16, 2019, had low-lights done. It looked really great( AWESOME)!. My family really liked the results. The price was right and the student was really helpful in helping me chose the colors for the low-lights. I know the instructor didn't agree with the colors, but my hair looked great! I will go back real soon and have my hair cut. Sorry I don't have a picture.
