Beware of their billing practice!!
At the office we were asked for insurance, which we initially provided. While the front desk employee was copying the insurance information, we decided we didn't want to use our insurance after all, and would pay the cost of the visit on the spot ($175). We let the employee know that we do not want to use insurance, and asked her to remove the information from the file. She said no problem, and we paid the fee by credit card.
Well, this medical provider proceeded to bill the insurance anyways. I called their billing department, and let them know we paid for our visit on the spot by credit card, and that we had requested them not to bill the insurance in the first place. Even though it is illegal to bill the insurance after we had requested it not be done , I wanted to give them the benefit of doubt, mistakes happen, and give them the opportunity to fix it.
I was told it would be fixed. And then I got another bill asking for a payment. It's been over a month, and this situation still is not fixed. At this point this is not an honest mistake anymore, but willful ignorance.
I've sent two emails to who I was told was the manager, and no reply from either email. In addition to that, I've made at least a half a dozen phone calls, asking to speak to a manager. There is never one available.
I'm filing an official billing complaint with the Illinois Attorney General, and initiating a complaint with BCBSIL regarding the medical centers fraudulent billing practices. Unfortunately, it seems this is the only way to get issues fixed with Innovative Platinum Care.
They've had me on hold for over an hour now to speak with a Manager... What they are actually doing is hoping I will just hang up. No, they just hung up on me after 1:15 on hold.
Update:
The owner reached out, apologized, and remedied the situation. Except for the billing situation our experience was a positive one.
