Added comment: I have since had the steaks I purchased. The flat iron I actually did put on a salad and it was delicious the grain and texture of the myocytes was so smooth and flavorful. And the Ribeye was great, very great flavor and texture from the meat here.

I was very satisfied with my visit to this Butcher, The staff is knowledgeable and courteous. There is a very good variety of quality products, fresh and very tasty. I placed the first order online which I picked up at the butcher's shop. Everything went very well and Barbara, the manager, is very efficient, attentive, and always ready to change anything to meet my needs and also gives excellent after-sale service. My second online order was delivered to my door in Victoria, Vancouver Island. The delivery was remarkably good. Within hours I received everything, all professionally well packaged in insulated cardboard boxes. The vacuum-packed meat was completely frozen as if it had just come out of the original freezer. I could follow my delivery with a tracking number for peace of mind. I am on a Carnivore diet, so my cat. I order about 50 lb at a time; Rib Eye Steaks, Sirloin, New York, Tenderloin, Ground beef, Chicken, Ground turkey, Liver, Ground Fat, Suet, Tallow, Pork belly. There is tasty Fat left on the pieces which I appreciate as Fat is essential for the carnivore dit and health. Organic, Grass-finished. Everything is fresh and Very delicious. Orders are prepared and shipped in a very short efficient time.

The best butcher shop overall I've found in my opinion with delicious, healthy, humane, and local meat. The staff are EXTREMELY knowledgeable - I asked what they fed their chickens and the butcher told me without blinking an eye. How many butcher shops can tell you exactly what their livestock is fed. The meat quality is fantastic, and Pasture to Plate offers a very large selection of products for health-conscious buyers like beef marrow bones, beef liver, etc. If you buy a large enough quantity you'll also get a 15% discount on all beef in your order which is amazing if you're stocking up for a month like we do.

I've shopped here casually for a while, they upsell a little but not the worst - but the other day I bought a 1.4 kilo rolled pork roast, all neatly tied, for $42. That should've fed 6 people for at least a couple days, and I roasted it as per usual, but when I cut it open I discovered that it was almost entirely solid fat. Not marbled, not even large chunks, just a single blob of fat with a very thin strip of actual meat. It was enough for a small mouthful each.
That's bad enough, but when I brought it back, the man in charge tried to tell me it "looked delicious," (seriously, this was not "fatty meat," this was pure gooey white fat) that it's a feature of how the pigs are raised, and that it was my fault for picking this roast, or for not unrolling and re-rolling it (when he'd sold it to me as a pre-tied roast).
I'm still a little agog. He was condescending, flat out lied, and tried to bully me into accepting something that was completely inedible. When I said (calmly and a little sadly, because this was a very convenient location for a butcher's, and I hadn't had a problem there before) that I couldn't see my way to coming back, if this was what he was going to sell and pretend was meat, he sputtered and demanded to know what I wanted him to do about it. I said I wanted my money back, and he did that, but I have no confidence that there's anything like decent quality control here, and wont be able to go back.

Love this place. It is nearly the only place I shop for food. Great variety, quality and a very friendly and helpful staff keep me coming back for more. I have yet to find better tasting cuts of meat anywhere else, and I also fully support their farming practices--which are far more humane than commercial farming and produce a much healthier product. I would highly recommend anyone who enjoys meat and animal products to check them out!

This is the only place we purchase meat now. We have been buying from them for about a year, and we are happy with the quality of the product. The meat taste much better then the traditional meat products, and it is definitely the more ethical & healthy option. The staff are helpful, and remember you. They recently changed all of their sausages from either beef or pork to 50/50, I told them I had beef allergy. The next time we came in the lady behind the counter told me she had put in request with the owners for one sausage that was all pork, and the following visit she informed us they had an all pork sausage now. I highly recommend this butcher.

I should have read all the reviews. Purchased a bunch of stuff for pickup $150 worth. None of the meat was anything special. Not even the sausages. Don't order for pickup because you have to check expiry dates. We paid 25 bucks for a small bottle of olive oil and it was expired. They would not give a refund without returning the item but driving all the way back wasn't an option. Much better butchers and customer service elsewhere. UPDATE: the $15 pickled pineapple jar was expired too. DO NOT BUY HERE!

Ordered online for the first time for pick up at the Denman location. I paid before they validated the cost (goes by weight not volume) so there was a $23 diff which they waved for me! They said due to the issues we are facing currently, they appreciate our business. That is good enough for me to def order again but more so that the chicken was amazing!!! Thank you!!

Same experience as some of the other reviews. Way over priced and the quality is nothing special (sevice was nothing special as well). I got a few pices of cured meats and liver pate. It cost over $30, but not better then the Freybe stuff you can get at a super market at 50%. I really miss the Peat's Meats butcher on Arbutus. Hopefully I can find a comparable not too far away from the drive.

The quality of the meat is good but:
1. The cut is subpar. The ribeye steaks are thin like 0.5".
2. What they have displayed, is what they have. If I want to order prime rib roast or beef short ribs, I have to order a month out.

I've been buying all my ground beef (and sometimes steaks) from here for 2 years now. Love it, highly recommend it. Just wished they had some sort of delivery service for large orders (eg, over $200).

I like the idea of this place but sometimes it smells very off and my steak tasted so wierd last time I had to throw it out. This has happened before and now again I can't justify spending so much on meat that may or may not be good.

Best bone broth/stock in town. It's actually gelatinous and made from healthy paired animals. I particularly like the pork broth.

They have a good selection of pastured meats too from their own farm in the interior.

I had some errands to do on the drive. I would have gone in but unfortunately, two of the three staff were not wearing masks and physical distancing seemed challenging. So I skipped it. I'm curious to know what other precautions are being taken.

I would like to state that I eat out very often. Me and my girlfriend are major foodies. We eat out very often and know our food. This review will be honest and fair based on our experience.

When we walk by this restaurant we both thought the layout and decor was very nice. Everything was very clean also. The menu was simple but still had decent varyity. We are big on organic grass fed meat, quality matters to us. So we decided to eat there with my parents and brother.

Once we got our orders no one was satisfied with their meal!!! It was seriously that bad... The bacon they use is very very fatty and they burnt it. Fatty bacon that taste burnt...the burger patties were super overcooked, so was the steak and sausages.

The two cooks were two younger guys that looked completely lost!!!!! They were poking the meat and cutting it open constantly to see if it was cooked. Making burger patties isn t rocket science...

We even asked them to not over cook our meat since the negative reviews we read mentioned that. Even after letting them know, all our meats were burnt. (Steak, bacon, beef patties and Sausages)

I took a look across the counter to see what they were doing wrong. The grill was very dirty, that explains why all the meat taste really burnt... they need to clean the grill after every use.

This place has potential... it s a shame that it s being ran by employees who don t know what they re doing in the kitchen. You can see that they re just completely clueless. (No disrespect)

The place was empty on a Friday evening and now I know why...

Hopefully they can get better staff and really turn this place around. With great ingredients like they have this could really be a hot spot.

Very friendly staff, and so good to finally have a butcher shop on the drive! I like the idea of buying all BC raised grassfed beef. A couple of complaints after my first visit. Paid around $24/lb for new york strip steaks, which would get you tenderloin at lots of butcher shops, but I decided to go for it, no complaints there . Flavour was very good, but the meat was tougher than it should be for this price. Breakfast sausages actually tasted a bit off to me, although it could have been unusual spicing. Hoping that once they get the bugs worked out they become my new go-to meat shop in the neighborhood.

I have been ordering online and having my orders delivered. I am very pleased with the quality of all the items I have received. Everything delicious but items particularly good - pot pies are great and the brats are outstanding and very traditional. Really amazing amount of work must have gone into setting up this kind of farm to plate business. Ordering and delivery is so easy and works very well.

GROUND BREAKING SHIPPING FOR BIODYNAMIC ORGANIC GRASS FED & GRASS FINISHED MEAT

Pasture 2 Plate delivered us over 20 kg of meet from their shop on Commercial Drive, Vancouver to Parksville, Vancouver Island (125+KM). We missed the UPS delivery and it shipped the next day. All the meat was completely frozen solid. The packaging was even frozen on the bottom and sides of the packaging.

The most amazing organic bio dynamic meat available. I am so grateful that I can now get it delivered anywhere in North America.

Im sorry but i must share my experience.

Im sorry but i must share my experience.
Delicious strip loin and eye of round, but my girlfriend and i both got food poisoning from sharing the two. I have experienced it before, and rarely eat meat. I am sure it was the steaks. Early today, she was vomiting, by late morning I felt it as well.

As soon as i walked into the shop, i could smell the effect of the heat on all of the meat in the front cases. I have worked in a number of kitchens as well as a butcher shop in victoria, i know the difference between the smell of fresh raw beef, and that which is turning.

After the ten minute walk home, the steaks were cooked to medium/med rare, with just a little pink in them.

I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and give you a second chance based on other reviews, i will just be sure not to purchase in a heat wave or past the midpoint in one of your bimonthly deliveries.

Excellent quality meats but very expensive. I find better value at either of the Windsor s. Every time I leave PtP, I say never again cause it hits me in the wallet so hard. Anyway, no problem with the service or quality so if you re feeling rich, knock yourself out.

Just purchased $300 worth premium quality organic meat. My list included chicken, lamb, and beef.

Here's the difference when you cook good meat:

1. It doesn't smell as bad when put in stews or fried
2. The meat melts in your mouth when put in stews
3. The meat doesn't taste rotten (you get this with whole foods and other chain supermarkets)

They also cut and pack whatever you want on the spot. You pay a premium and I am happy to pay it with what I get.

Highly, highly, highly recommended.
