Nice historical theatre. The set design for Little Shop of Horrors was amazing. Hope to see more wonderful productions like that here
This was my first visit to the playhouse and it was pretty amazing. I saw "It's a Wonderful Life" presented as a radio drama. So this is a review for the anxious individual. The aisle seats are the best. The seats are average size, very comfortable, and similar to the older movie theater seats. The venue is small and I would compare it to an elementary school auditorium when considering the distance you will be from the stage. Since the stage is raised you will have a wonderful view as the seats are tiered. The website says that restroom breaks are only allowed during intermission but I asked and the attendant said I could re-enter if I left during the performance. The restroom for women has only 4 stalls so there is a bit of a line before the start of the play. Parking is directly across and in an underground parking lot. $5 flat fee and closes at 11 p.m. There are also public restrooms in the building above the parking garage. They are very clean and less crowed than the ones at the playhouse.
Bordertown Now is a terrific play. Very relevant and timely. Worth watching.
One of the cultural jewels in the Crown City . As part of the Theater Ministry of All Saints I saw some excellent productions this summer with Culture Clash and Native Gardens with Frances Fisher . Such a deal for great seats .
My husband and I saw The Great Leap as part of our anniversary celebration. The Playhouse is beautiful. It definitely has kept it's vintage charm. Love the stage, seats are comfortable and staff is so welcoming, accommodating and helpful!
Have subscribed for several years. Always enjoy this historic theater
This theater has now become one of my favorites. I went to see Little Shop of Horrors. The production was phenomenal and the offerings for future productions looks really promising. I cannot wait to visit again. All the seats are good seats as the theater is small and intimate. The seats are not super crammed and there is lots of leg room.
Beatiful building and user friendly parking around the area
Love this place! Even though it's an old venue, but it's has a lot of character. Seats are comfortable with plenty of leg room.
Lovely venue, spacious yet untimate, rife with history.
It was wonderful and beautiful and 100 years old! Outstanding acoustics!
It's a gorgeous theatre with excellent acoustics and it didnt hurt that "The little Shop of Horrors" was AMAZING in fact saw it twice!!
Awesome special Tour of historical landmark of 1920's first full functioning Theatre, performing arts school and more. Learned about innovation of the benefactor and contributors, many famous actors, stage managers, set design, etc. started here.
Came here especially because supposedly my Great Grandmother performed Vaudeville here..still researching because of her alias. Recommend this tour.
The production was excellent, the restrooms were clean, the ushers were friendly and helpful and the aisles in the theater were wide enough for people to walk through. Little Shop of Horrors was an extremely well done production with a stellar cast.
This a great venue for stage productions. The seats are very comfortable and spacious the staff is very professional and very personable.I would highly recommend going to the Pasadena Playhouse for any Stage production.
World class theater. Never miss an opportunity to come. No bad seats.
This historic theater is in good shape, not a bad seat in the house, and terrific plays. Recently saw Cluture Clash's Bordertown - i give this a two thumbs up play, up-to-date with current issues.
A small little play house on top of a Mexican restaurant. Perfect date night, have dinner and a few drinks at the restaurant then walk upstairs to the playhouse. Chairs are comfortable and you feel like you are in the middle of the play. The tickets were around $40 a piece and it was well worth it. It's open seating so come early to get the best seats.
Great show and were very accommodating to my friend who has issues climbing stairs; he was given seating in the orchestra section. Every seat is good.
Such a delight to have a delicious dinner next door & then see a great play on a Summer evening! Good Boys was wonderfully written and acted. Very intense, and disturbing story - but timely and poignant.
Nice old refurbished theater. A local fixture with lots of good shows. Very good parking and near the revitalized Old Town ambiance so fun evening.
Such a stately, but comfy atmosphere. Great entertainment. Needs more bathrooms.
Favorite venue for stage productions. Quality of the show's is top notch, excellent casts and inventive direction. Parking is very convenientand nearby restaurants are excellent.
The theater is a nice size. Great seat no matter where you sit!
We watched It's a Wonderful Life and it was such a great experience. The theater itself is cozy and they're doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. Lighting, sound, performances were all superb. We will definitely come back again.
stay away until the artistic director stops using this facility as his own propaganda machine. Unprofessional and irresponsible. Mr. Feldman needs to start serving the community rather than his massive ego.
Great place to see a show or music act. Historic and open. Court yard is fantastic. Grab a reservation at the restaurant next door.
Some great productions are done here. It's a smaller theater so it has a more intimate feel. The service is fast and there are parking lots available if you don't want to hunt down street parking.
Visited the Pasadena Playhouse and had the chance to see 'Ladies In Vaudeville'
Love this little theater. Besutifull inside. Always presenting good plays.
Expensive but fantastic fun. Being part of the show that's going on around you is a great experience. Saw Pirates of Penzance and enjoyed it so much I went again and brought my 6yr old daughter.
This theater is gorgeous, and the area surrounding it is lovely. It feels like old Pasadena mixed with modern amenities, and I love the symbiotic relationship that the theater has with the neighboring businesses (most especially Trejo's Tacos). The parking garage directly across the street is very convenient and couldn't be easier to access due to the flashing pedestrian crosswalk. Looking forward to attending another performance here.
Beautiful theater, high production value and extremely talented actors
Been going here for over 10 years. Always top quality productions. Not a bad seat in the house.
Great play to see a play. I enjoy sitting in the balcony. Best to use the bathroom across the street. Figure out where you are going to park before you leave. Tons of restaurants around the Playhouse to eat at.
Great place to see a performance. I love the stately architecture and the location. While I am not always thrilled with the plays I see at the Pasadena Playhouse I do enjoy going there every time. It's nice to see older California architecture still around!
Ah this makes a great date night. Its California's official theatre. Why? Yeah I have no idea. But its old and a classic. The courtyard is great to hang out before hand. The ld lady ushers are adorable. If you dont mind walking parking a few blocks down theres free no limit parking at night.
The plays are pretty good, not all hits but as a subscriber they select winning plays. Love the 30's style decor.
I saw little shop of horrors tonight for the first time, and also my first time at the Pasadena playhouse. It was beyond amazing! The location is simply beautiful and the attendants were so nice and accommodating.
Shout, Sister Shout! Was an excellent play with fabulous performers. Love this theater and recommend it highly
A wonderful venue with outstanding performances. We only go as seldom as we do because we live an hour away; otherwise, we'd go all the time.
Great plays in an historic theater celebrating its 100th year. Anywhere you sit is a great view.
Attended a matinee performance. Parking was easy and reasonable. Lovely old theater. Not a bad seat in the house. Lots to do and places to eat afterwards within walking distance.
Absolutely love Pasadena!
Little shop of horrors was the best show I have ever seen! The play house was beautiful and the staff were so kind
The official State Theater for California. Many a famous star earned their chops here to hit their marks and say their lines. Worth a stop and look even if not going inside for current production. But go see something and support the arts!
Princess Michael Wilkins at the Pasadena Queen's Court 2020 coronation
Beautiful establishment and cozy enough to make every seat in the house an enthralling experience!
The State Theatre of California with a 100 year history of great theatre. Easy parking, lots of nearby food and and always a memorable experience.
Small cozy theater that has all seats having a good view of the stage. The one missing star is due to ackward bathrooms. Lots of food choices near by as well.
Beautiful historic theater with many options for dining within walking distance. Every theater lover should see at least one show at this wonderful venue.
Beautiful historic theater, not a bad seat in the house.
Excellent space. As others have noted, even seats in the back are good.
Quality theatrical productions in a historic theater! Accessibility needs work... and yes, it can be done without marring the historic building.
Great venue. Saw Pygmalion from a seat in the far back and still enjoyed it quite a bit!
Trejo tacos...good: food was good, but not mind blowing.
