On April 13, I did something already habitual, to know what we have of the best in our country and I visited, alone, the park and palace of Monserrate.

This type of visits, which I do have as sole objective to know what we have of most beautiful in our country.

This time, I was not disappointed at all.
The park was well maintained, something just possible with the work of people who like what they do.
An exemplary cleanliness that enhances the romantic ambiance even more.

The entire Sintra parks team was attentive and always friendly and available to answer questions that the visitors put in without showing any sign of dislike.

The security that was on duty, was super affordable and available to help, when asked about what better ways to do, along the park, was super friendly, without responding to "dispatch", giving up tips from places we would definitely enjoy.

With this, I would like to thank you, for you are an example of what we have the best, of our country, to present to the world.

A big thank you to everyone.

Beautiful place, does require a little bit of walking up and down paths to get to the palace. Take comfortable footwear. Nice to watch the sun go down. The light bounces off trees and creates interesting shadows.

If you arrive in Lisbon it is near unforgettable not to make an exit in the small town of Sintra. Trains to this destination are very frequent and the journey up to about 40 minutes but here you will definitely not get bored because you have many palaces and castles to visit.
From the station you have 2 possibilities to make the routes of palaces and castles.
A) You can choose a tour with tuk-tuk (light car discovered with 5-8 seats). For this you will pay 25 euros per person.
Those who organize these tours say that it will take you 4-5 hours. They will wait for you in every location you want to see until you return to your car. Personally I think you need a day to enjoy all the goals. Entries to castles / palaces will be paid in addition to the 25 euros for transport.
B) You can make routes with the buses provided by the authorities. These are 2 minutes walk from the train station. The price of a ticket is 12 euros. - Lisbocard does not offer you a discount. Taking such a ticket you have 3 established routes. These 3 routes will take you to all the objectives.
You have the opportunity to get off at what you want, to visit it and to wait for another bus to your next destination. (Hop in Hop off as many times as you like) The disadvantage of this second option, that of the bus, is that to visit all the objectives each time you must return to Sintra from where you will choose the next route.

At the time of the visit, Monserrate villa, as this was the purpose of the construction was in rehabilitation. There were no exposed furniture and no access to the upper level.
The gardens around the building are very spacious and beautiful. A walk of about 45-75 minutes will suffice. The price of tickets depends on the period of visit. Between 6 and 8 euros. This price offers a discount for those who own Libocard. There is also a discount for those under 18 but also for those over 65.

The opening time is 09.30 - 10.00 - depending on the season in which you visit - the closing time 17.00 -19.00 for the Palace and 18.00 -20.00 for the garden. The last ticket for the palace is offered 30 minutes before the closing time for the palace and 60 minutes before the closing time for the gardens.

In 2013 he won the European Garden Award in the category Best Development of a Historic Park or Garden

One of the main tourist spots in Sintra. This palace and its gardens to personal taste are perhaps the ones we liked the least compared to the rest such as the Palacio da Pena, the Quinta da Regaleira or the Castelo dos mouros (among others). If you go to visit it and plan to go later to other monuments or palaces, it is a good place to buy tickets for everyone else, since the queue is not very crowded and then you will avoid waiting in other places to already have tickets.

Entry value is expensive. But it is definitely worth the price. Very beautiful place with magnificent gardens. About 3 hours of walking. There is a park at the entrance, but on busy days, it can fill up quickly.

emblematic location, magnificent garden almost endless ... and crannies behind most places, always with more plants and stunning scenery. Great place to explore with time to enjoy it all.
As for the Palace with a well framed surrounding architecture, interior with a exelente exposure details ... always nice to revisit.

Visited in early January. Disappointed!!!! The "Palace" is just a big house, barely a mansion really. Sure there are some nice designs but I really would have been happy if I hadn't wasted my time and money there. The garden is nice although not much to see in January. Skip it and save your money unless you like to walk in the garden.

The park is really beautiful and large with vegetation from different parts of the world and a relaxing atmosphere of tranquility. The well renovated house is to be discovered. The central corridor, the kitchens and the library are beautiful. A bit far from the old town of Sinatra.

We were outside the palace, just opposite. There, there is a natural park, very well signposted, to take a nice walk. We did not enter inside as we were going with our dogs and entry is not allowed.

Worth to extend the road and visit the place. Bucolic and quiet place. Take your treadmill and lie down on the grass to enjoy moments of relaxation. He deserved a little more care in the gardens. I recommend the visit in the spring as there are beautiful gardens.
