Well .... I see most people said they need to get there business straight. Sadly I have to 8-12 weeks to get my birth certificate because they was not trying to help and sound uninterested. I need the certificate immediately to travel ....but they took too long to ship my birth certificate before the early time was up. Is bad I that I wasted my money to get my birth certificate rushed . They charge the same for standard and they deliver in 8-12 weeks.

I PAID FOR BIRTH CERTIFICATE TWO DIFFERENT TIMES AND I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY. I LIVE IN ANOTHER STATE, I NEED MY BIRTH CERTICATE TO GET A STATE IDENTIFICATION CARD AND A PASSPORT. I PAID $100. DOLLARS. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. IT HAS BEEN 7MONTHS AND NI BIRTH CERTIFICATE

When I got a copy of my father's death certificate, it was very fast & simple, it only took about 20 minutes

Worst service ever. The operator is half asleep answering phone. She would come on and then put me on hold and after waiting 15 min she hung the phone up.

The most poorly run, ineffective government office I ve ever had the misfortune of visiting. Came here to get our marriage license. Not a great way to start our wedding weekend.

Does not conform to website which says they will take credit or debit cards.

Forms ask for information that turns out is not necessary unless it is on the birth certificate. But how would anyone know? We aren t allowed to ask questions and little guidance given.

I appreciate a good form but I don t appreciate people with bad form when they are validating our love.

Y all make money validating Love by the state so you could at least make this easier.

Apparently there is only 1 person in the state of Louisiana that works there that deals with death certificate issues. NOBODY else can help me because that ONE person is on vacation and NOBODY else has clearance to do a damn thing. What a joke

I ordered a copy of my birth certificate and it arrived with mistakes. My middle name is Richard, but they wrote it as Richland. What kind of a middle name is Richland? My mother's middle name is Elise, but they wrote Eline. Finally, my father's name is the same as mine so I am a "Junior". They placed the "JR" in the wrong place on the birth certificate. Since then, they sent me a birth certificate with the corrections for the "Richard" and the "Elise" but they refuse to place the "JR" in the correct place on my birth certificate. This has caused me problems with my passport and bank accounts.

Do not, I repeat, do NOT go to this location if you want to get married. They are incredibly rude, and if you do not have a Louisiana birth certificate, they will make you go to a court house to get a waver despite the fact that your birth certificate is an original. It really seems like they don t want to marry people. We were not the only ones to be turned away, every out of state birth certificate is not accepted. For you own good, stay far away from this place and especially the people who work here. Also, the receptionist does not care to be there, she will spend 45+ minutes chatting with friends and sharing pictures instead of helping anyone.

This review is NOT for this office. I was on the phone trying to order a birth certificate from my home state and let me tell you, I spent hours on the phone. Everyone I spoke to sent me to the wrong phone number and I d have to call back and wait another hour to speak to someone. Terrible system. No one know how to do their job. BUT after the last attempt to speak to someone I came in contact with Mrs. Charolette Sykes, and let me tell you, I wanted to hug her through the phone. She informed me that the website I ordered my certificate from was fraudulent and she gave me step by step on what to do. She got it all worked out and mailed my birth certificate out immediately. She was a lifesaver working for a company in which no one else could help me. I am so thankful for you Mrs. Sykes!! Thank you so much!!!

Had my mother order my birth certificate after a fire destroyed all my identifying documentation and paid 30 for them to mail it and waited 6 plus weeks for them only to send a letter that needed to be signed for them to mail it and a bill for the amount I already paid. Ridiculous. Thanks for making a traumatic experience even more harrowing.

Everytime I call and speak to someone regarding my child's birth certificate they are very very rude. They need to hire better women to help people because this is ridiculous. Need to be reported to the Better Business Bureau. Nothing but ghetto ass women.

Umm not much to talk about...its vital records. You do need an appointment now due to covid.

More than a few inquires on here about the prices for birth/death certificates so I'm posting this photo from their form (up to date as of November 2019). $15 for a birth certificate and $7 for a death certificate. I arrived at 2pm on a Thursday and waited less than 5 minutes. Wish the rest of government services in N.O. were as efficient as this place.

Very fast and efficient. I obtained my certified birth certificate within 15 minutes from arriving. There was no crowd. Much better than expected.

Extremely rude. Typical. I sent my daughters birth certificate back a few months ago because it was incorrect. I called right after opening one day to check on it, and from the moment this woman answered the phone all I got was a nasty attitude.

Dont let these negative reviews fool you... I just got birth certificate today an the lady was very nice an got my certificate correctly... Keey to being respected is by being respectful first!! Have clear manuscript when writing down your information so nothing will be incorrect... Thank you Mrs/Ms. Stella for your help in getting a copy of my birth certificate... (Ps. Worst place to do business slow Employees have attitudes and I have to pay for parking and they take the time I guess to keep the mentors getting paid

Slow service, got hung up on and still haven't gotten my child's birth certificate. If the insurance company stops paying for my child's medical expenses because they haven't gotten the birth certificate someone is getting sued!

For the past year I have been trying to get these people to send me my sons birth certificates from their adoption. I've called multiple times and every single time I do I get a answering machine. I've left messages but I have never recieved a call back. If I could give less then a 1 star rating I would. The people running this place are incompetent and lazy. If you can go somewhere else I suggest you do because you will not get any help from the people running this place.

This place needs to be shut down. I ordered a birth certificate for my son and they told me they couldn t find his birth certificate. How can he not have a birth certificate when I had him at Ochsner hospital.The lady on the phone was very rude, and I told her don t even worry about assisting me anymore. I went to the clerk of court here in Baton Rouge, and they found his birth certificate with no problem. Thank God I didn t have to make a blank trip to New Orleans. This place is the worst!!!!

Filled out forms and paid for my marriage license about 3 months ago. Haven t heard anything back, and I can t get anyone on the phone. Half the time it gives a busy signal when you try to call in.

Couldn t get them on the phone in the first place. No answer, mailbox full... so I drove to Slidell for a marriage license

I was charged a $45.50 processing fee, plus $15.50 for a birth certificate. It was delivered by Priority Mail September 16th, 2018. It is November 9, 2018.and I have not heard anything. Called and checked the status. I was told it will be 8-10 weeks from the 16th of October, the date it was filed in the system.
This service is a rip-off. I told them "Pony Express" did not take this long to go coast to coast.

Best experience ever I stay in another state and I order my son birth certificate and got it rush with in 4 days that was very awesome

This was the best experience I have ever had with a government office. I was in and out in 15 minutes, something I was not expecting at all. I figured since they always get hammered I could leave some positive words!

The customer service is very poor. My birth certificate was issued with the incorrect spelling of my last name, which was an error by the department and I was required to pay for the correction on top of the poor service! I'm glad I do not reside there.

The least understanding and most incompetent office staff I've ever come across. They spelled our last name incorrectly in the system and we somehow now have to pay AGAIN, get with our officiant AGAIN, fill the paperwork out AGAIN. Not only has it wasted almost two months of time between phone calls, messages, and dropping by the physical office, but it's the lack of empathy on top of that.

The same woman who filed our paperwork the week before our wedding and spelled our name wrong, (after asking us 5+ times how to spell the name while shrugging her shoulders and refusing to make eye contact), was the same woman who told my husband today that we have to pay again to file the license.

Wish these government offices could be held more accountable. Extremely disappointed and hoping to get this sorted soon.

If it can be avoided, avoid this office. Take your marriage licensing elsewhere.

The service is very slow. When you call you are placed on hold for over an hour. You stand a better chance emailing. I rushed an application to obtain records and a month later they still have no idea of what's going on. Even though a signature was obtained. My case is now being held up because no one wants to do their job. I wonder how they'd feel if a surgeon walked in the O.R. and took hours to get set up and started??

I sent in information to have my birth certificate corrected in May and still have not received it. Now they want me to pay again for something I have never received.

First of all, parking is a hassle because of distance and cost. The parking garages are all connected to hotels and banks and whatever and it s easy to get lost. The vital records office is located on the fourth floor and shares the building with another hotel, credit union, etc. Finding the place is very confusing if you ve never been there before. Once you finally complete your journey to the office, you have to wait about an hour to get your stuff. The room smelled like unwashed bodies. Directions are so obscure and it s easy to get lost. The trek back took almost an hour because I couldn t find the right garage. I was walking around in some strange building. There were rich people everywhere, they were having a banquet or something. I guess that s where all the rich and important people of New Orleans hang out at. I didn t know what was going on. I was so confused. All this just for a birth certificate.

It's March 23 2017 and I just called them to see how long it takes for brith certificate would be in and they were very rude with me, they need to get there heads out off there ass and get a better attitude with people

Got in and out in less than 5 minutes. Lady in the office was very sweet and professional.

Horrible!!! Went there to get my son's last name changed. I gave them all of the paper work that they asked for, the attendant looked over all of my documents and told me that everything was in order, i paid the fee for the name change and got my receipt. Months later I get a call from a woman telling me that I need to send them more information and that I need to go to the court house and get documents that never existed on top of the court order signed by a judge that I had already submitted. They told me that I needed to have my paperwork notarized which is completely understandable but at the time I submitted my paperwork to the attendant, she told me that she didn't need me to submit the notarized paperwork that I brought, instead just needed to verify that it was notarized and make copies to submit. So on top of the ridiculously long wait to have the name changed, I would have to wait even longer once I submitted the new documents. This broke my son's spirit because he was looking forward to using his dad's last name for that school year. These people obviously cannot do this job and should be shut down.

By far the most unorganized unprofessional agency I have ever delt with. I have been trying to get a birth certificate for a year now and still do not have it. They have LOST documents i have submitted, and misplace my child's WHOLE file. Once I submit documents they request- saying that's all I need, I find out months later BY CALLING that more documents are needed. They do not return calls so don't bother leaving a message. Nor do they send a letter telling you what's going on with the documents you request. I advise you to call everyday, expect alot of bs and don't expect your document in a timely manner.

Unorganized, disrespectful, and overall unpleasant to deal with. All the people I talked to about the birth certificate issue I have were unhelpful. What can be done about firing the entire office and hiring competent people, is that possible? Something needs to be done, why is such a vital office so disabled by its employees? Is there any justice in Louisiana when it comes to poor customer service?
