Beautiful park to spend couple of hours walking around, picnicking and enjoying outdoors
Was hoping for a nice day out at Painshill Park, pre-booked and hassle free car park. Only to come back and notice my car had been broken into. Staff were not really helpful and no CCTV cameras are installed in the car park. Given the horrible experience, I really hope Painshill Park invest in CCTV cameras to prevent future burglaries happening again.
I love Painshill, it is a truly beautiful place to spend a few hours at any time of year. BUT... I really wish the tearoom was managed by somebody who knows what they are doing. Tepid lattes are the norm and on my last visit the leek & potato soup I ordered for lunch was in fact the thinnest brown broth with a few very finely chopped bits of vegetable, mainly carrots! The response, when I questioned whether I had been given the correct dish, was almost laughable. "Yes, it is leek & potato soup", end of conversation and they walked away.
That doesn't even come close to acceptable customer service!
Good place for a walk with interesting follies ar various vantage points
Excelent place for a couple of hours walk. Amazing views.
It is a beautiful place. I am planning another visit soon. My Mother was in service here in the 1930s so it means a lot to me
This park had been recommended by one of my friends. I didn't expect such a beauty. The scenes are like coming straight from paintings. You can walk around the park and see different places like Gothic temple, the lakes, a ruined abbey and More
Enjoyable day out for kids, Mum and Dad plus Gran. crystal grotto really amazing. Some massive trees and eccentric follies.
Landed up here by accident, on a weekday afternoon and found it a great place to spend time at and walk around. It s a historic park with lots of things to see. With great parking and stunning vistas, this place is not widely visited as not many Londoners know about it. The grotto is stunning, and the Tea Room is nice and cosy. A great place to spend an afternoon walking around.
After wanting to visit painshill for some time, we finally got a chance to come and explore. There is so much to see here and it makes for such a good afternoon walk. The crystal grotto did not disappoint and the staff were so helpful with answering our questions and explaining the history of the grotto and painshill. A lot of people just walked past the volunteers, but if you take the time to talk to them, they are so knowledgeable! The beautiful setting of the very well kept park is truly outstanding and make you feel like a kid when you stumble across a part of the park you didn t realise were there. Make sure you make the climb up to the top of the steps in the gothic tower as the view is well worth it. The food in the cafe at the start of the park serves delicious food and drink, so be sure to make a visit as you ll need it after all that walking !
Really nice park, but during February half term most places inside (eg grotto) and some paths was closed. Unfortunately entry price was normal.
Beautiful location and walks suitable for all abilities
As a park that I learned from the Forest School program, I really like the trail course with stories every season.
If you stay in England for a long time, this is a great place for a day walk!
A park containing 18th century landscapes. However, in some places, the noise of the highway makes it negative for a beautiful park walk.
Really Lovely place, first time coming here and amazed on how large the place really is. Lots of greenery and space great for family and kids. Unfortunately the downside was alot of the places inside were closed off which took the shine away. I would visit again but i would call to find out if everything is accessable.
Lovely gardens and lakes to walk round well maintained clean and tidy great day out for the family. Well worth the visit we will be back again.
Never get tired of going here. It's different every time
This is a beautiful place worth ever penny spent on entrance first time here and will definitely be coming back clean fresh beautiful park areas took our cocker spaniel he love it grand kids love it we love it .
Beautiful venue , we had our wedding here and were helped by the wonderful wedding coordinator Ella Roberts. Thank you so much for making our special day magical!
Absolutely gorgeous park with a little something for everyone. Customer service isn't fantastic - one member was incredibly rude to myself and the person I came with, another member was incredibly sweet when I was purchasing some books and the rest just didn't give a very friendly, welcoming vibe.
Ended up here by accident as Wisley was closed.
An absolutely beautiful walk around the lake.
The staff were very helpful and pleasant.
Well definitely be recommending to friends and returning ourselves.
Wisleys loss Painshill gain
Painshill Park is an award winning 18th century landscape garden, Stroll around the serpentine lake, walk through the woodlands, marvel at the vineyards, Painshill Park has so much to offer. Visit the crystal grotto, temple of Bacchus, climb the gothic tower, or find the hidden hermitage.
Painshill Park is one of my favourite places to go for a walk . It has a different beauty in every season and is somewhere I can go alone and enjoy the tranquility or else take family and friends.
Gorgeous sunny day, the heritage and upkeep of the facilities is well worth the admission fee! Glad we found this gem here in Surrey.
Quiet gardens for a stroll on a Summer's day. Fantastic views from various Follies. The footpaths are smooth so are great for buggies and wheel chairs.
Gorgeous place, be advised that you will need a few hours to see the main attractions.
Great walk especially in the sun. Grotto was fairly stunning and guides gave a good talk through all the features. Nice scones.
Beautiful park to walk through and spend time in, picturesque views with great spots to sit and have a picnic. Annual membership is worth it if you're local and can visit often. Don't forget your camera...
Sweet place for a picnic lots of space for the kids to burn some energy.
The landscape garden stretches along the banks of the winding River Mole on land that has a number of natural hills and valleys.
Surprised my mum for her 70th birthday with afternoon tea at Mr Hamilton's tea room. We enjoyed it very much. Had a wonderful time. Gwenda and the staff were very friendly and made you feel welcome. Thank you.
This place is absolutely magical. First time we came here it was really a shock to us as we thought we had entered some sort of a magic garden which is what this place really is like. There are so many little micro areas around here to check out and experience. Wildlife is also super cool. The view from a little place where you can sit on the hill is out of this world. A must visit place!
Great park. Reasonably priced. Constant noise from the A3 is a bit of a shame but nothing they can do about that.
Coffee served in disposable cups with single-use stirrers and sugar satchets. Not very green? Signage could do with a bit of improvement.
Lovely place in general though - well worth a visit. We'll be visiting again for sure.
If you do go make sure you visit the crystal grotto.
Absolutely amazing place. Stunning views and beautifully kept landscapes
Nice big park, well cared for, friendly staff, highly recommended !!!
Would be 5 stars but no sandwiches in the Gothic Tower cafe at 1pm. Somewhat disappointing after the long walk to reach it. Otherwise stunning location, fabulous follies and views. Will return, perhaps with a picnic! Admission seems cheap for what s on offer!
Nice walk when thecwrather is kind. Cafe&Toilets open.
Absolutely beautiful, very well maintained park with a great variety of trees, and one of the best places in Surrey to enjoy stunning autumn colours No need to pre-book your visit if you are a National Art Pass holder.
Festive illuminations and Father Xmas
Really really disappointing. Father Xmas was not in the grotto but a tent this year, the children go in as groups so they don t get 121 time with Santa. The illuminations were dire, the walk was really dark, uneven and hard to see. There were so many oppportunities for them to have installed some great lighting illusions, so a real shame. I heard people remark that they had seen better lighting on the m25!!
Not worth the money or time/ effort to get tickets. There are much better places in Surrey to see Santa.
Wonderful place for a walk and a picnic. Everything is clean and the grounds are well maintained. Great little cafe for coffe and snacks.
A place of space and beauty. Well organised to cope with Covid19 issues though the toilet arrangements could be better.
Lovely park, full of history. Netflix was filming period drama Bridgend when I was there, amazing costumes and set...
Amazing views
Parking is free
Didn t get lost on the route following m25
Not a whole day thing unless ur having a picnic
Be warned Crystal grotto is just a 2/4 walk through...
please see pics.
Didn t get to check out the ice house near the temple
Walk near the Sabine statue and you will find it on left... somewhere there
the Chinese peninsula plantings well hardly anything there. Didn t go all the way to the gothic tower. Took me a slow stroll of 21/2 hours to get around... sat around for a bit at the gothic tower
Great for dog walking.
Boats there maybe can hire
More for couples and younger children 5-10
I work with young people.. thought I d check it out, although beautiful I couldn t take my them there.
Check out the cafe
Such a beautiful place! So much to explore in the large park. Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to explore it all.
One of the most beautiful parks i have visited. Cant wait to go back in the summer. Great for family/ couples. Takes about 2 hours to walk around the park. Must visit if you like walking .
Had a really glorious day. The most magical place in Surrey.
Had a lovely walk with mum on Sunday 8th November. Seeing all the autumn colours, cows in the field next door. Also at 1 point the sun coming out and the reflection on the water beautiful. Cafe for take away at begining of walk had sausage roll was really nice. Then after our long walk had a lovely scone and coffee. Really nice 3 hours there. Would recommend to go there. Need to book and 2nd lockdown shuts at 4pm. Last people they will let in is at 3pm.
I have just taken out a membership, I think my rating will improve with better weather.
Lovely place, but the experience of wandering in the gardens was spoilt by a frustrating lack of clear signage and waymarking. The map provided was not sufficient.
I came here only to see Crystal Grotto actually but wow , all the Park is very interesting and amazing . Plenty of forest and few great landmarks to see . At visitor center you will get the map of the park and if you follow red arrow ( More
Has lots of attractions but also closed due to the obvious but a very good walk in the park
Fab place for kids / dogs / cafe - went here today. They had a special event for world book Day. My kids did archery (awesome bloke running that). Generally lovely dedicated staff. Cafe food was excellent quality. What a gem of a place. Interesting follies too especially the grotto. Thx. We'll be back.
Beautiful landscape garden with a stunning grotto, watch out for the pig farm
I'm a little angry. We had our wedding in September. My husband chose this beautiful park for photography. At Junius, we went for a trial photo and asked about the details of the wedding photography. Two ladies were sitting at the More
Fantastic day out, beautiful gardens and a very interesting history. Pop up cafe in the tower provided decent refreshment after a long stroll.
Would be nice to be told whats open and whats not before paying. Other than that the ground are a lovely walk
This place is really special. We went on the Summer event weekend so there was a bit more going on but I can imagine even without, this place would still be special. There are the various points of interest but the grounds alone, they are just spectacular.
There were moments I actually felt like I was in a different era and it was great! I had a wonderful chat with an older gentleman at the water wheel and I could see how passionate he was about the place and it's story.
Imy hudband and I soent about 4 hours here so it's a good day out. I suspect we will be back!!
Some constructive feedback - it would be great to maybe hand out a pamphlet at the start with information on the history over time and the owner Hamilton.
Very clean and beautiful park. I would recommend it for a little but of quiet time away from the city. You can choose a shorter or a longer footpath depending on how much time you have to spare.
A lovely place to visit for a calming walk and admire the views of the lake. Plenty of space to social distance but booking online in advance is required at the moment. Great place to picnic on the grass on a sunny day. I always enjoy a walk here, especially when I feel the need to de-stress myself, or get a bit of exercise.
Lovely grounds. We took the kids to Santa s grotto this year and *all* of the young staff we encountered (elves, ground keepers and refreshments) were absolutely excellent. The ticket and tea room staff we ran into couldn t have been more contrasting... Literally rude and disinterested, really spoiling the mood.
The grotto itself is a fantastic place and Painshill in general is beautiful but the competition is high (Santa and settings!), we won t be returning soon.
Just loved it here ,i found it so beautiful and calming .It is so well kept ,i cant wait to go back i will go on the buggy next time .i wish i was fitter so much to see
A beautiful and well looked after park. Staff were wonderful and the day spent at Painshill was well worth it with the family.

Ganga Muralidhar
Beautiful park and collection of the most unusual buildings from across the globe, stunning gardens and lakes, amazing backdrop and the most ornate fairytale grotto being the centrepiece of this magical place. Various events throughout the year such as Dragon week with its detailed Dragon sculptures trailing throughout and the forthcoming Christmas events make Painshill Park a must visit for all who enjoy the outdoors with a bit of extra zest
Lovely place to walk with interesting follies to see. And then a lovely cafe for afterwards
Nice and relaxing park. Very pleasant and well maintained. Large enough for a nice trip.
Lovely place for a picnic. Great walks
Pity the tea room had closed the kitchen because they had a backup of orders. At 13:30 with only half the tables occupied.
Lovely place to walk around and changes so much with each season. In my opinion outstrips the nearby National Trust place!
Enjoyed our visit today. A lovely place to walk and wonderful old trees. Need to be reasonably fit as a lot of walking even from the carpark to the entrance and cafe. Well tworth the effort once you are there. As we were in a campervan it would have been helpful if there was something on the website warning of the height barrier at the entrance and suggesting phoning in advance to arrange opening.
Excellent, clean park with beautiful scenery Lot of lovely spots to take pictures and to relax Grotto is the best attraction here IMHO. Don't miss it as it closes few hours early in the evening. No signs or helpful boards in the park, so be prepared to find your way
Painshill car park is a pain
The lady at the counter didn't inform us that the car park will be closed at 6pm as well. We came back only by 7 pm to find that the exit is closed along with the car park. We expected atleast someone to go around the park once in a bike or battery car to make sure nobody is inside. They didn't even consider our car in carpark before closing the car park gate
Atleast they can ask visitors to provide their phone number and car number while buying the tickets. So that they can call to inform them before closing the car park gate Absolutely, they scored points for customer service.
But the security staff were kind enough and tried their best to help us out. But none of them had the key and they suggested us to go home and come back by next morning. We travelled more than an hour to visit this park and left disappointed as we need to come back again the next morning
Luckily the couple who stay near the park reception helped us to take our car out. Many thanks to them for saving our night and next morning
My two cents. Plan to visit the park in the morning and make sure you have atleast 4 to 5 hours in the park before 6 pm
Painshill What would we have done without you during lockdown. You have been asked solace. From the Dragon text trail to the snow safari my daughter has absolutely loves coming here. Very Covid safe and always friendly. Beautiful place lovely staff
We went to see Father Christmas today and had a great time. Every member of staff we encountered was helpful and friendly. Father Christmas himself was very chatty with our 3 children, asking them what they wanted for Christmas, we felt like we weren't rushed at all, it was a really memorable experience. We headed to the cafe for lunch afterwards and had a very nice meal served by helpful friendly staff. We decided we will return there next year as it was really rather special.
This park is absolutely beautiful no matter what time of the year and is well worth a visit!
My favourite part was the crystal grotto as the ladies who worked there were so informative. Obviously it's beautiful but the information about it was actually really interesting and it's good to see people be so passionate about their work.
The cafe itself is okay on the whole. I would avoid the coffee as that's terrible but we had a hot lunch and cake there and these were alright for the price you pay.
It was really a good finding. We went from London and temperature was around 12 degree. Would like to go again in summer.
This is a really great park, the entrance is not cheap though so we don't go as often as we want.
They do produce quite a nice sparkling wine that is available in the shop too.
First time going to Painshill such a beautiful place can't wait to go back there again
Regular visitors, always enjoyable. Good to see the improvements since last visit. Two new bridges installed. Looking forward to returning when the grotto id's finished.
