Currently staying in one of their rentals, sewage ...

Currently staying in one of their rentals, sewage is spewing into the basement and we are unable to use the showers or toilets. We were simply told "we will fix it when we get a chance" , these conditions are deplorable and the customer service is horrid. I will never be staying with outer banks blue and I Will be telling all of my friends who come to the outer banks to avoid them.

This house and location was perfect for us. House was clean and stocked. We watched the sun rise every morning- beautiful beachfront! We loved our short time there! Most impressively- Halie from OBBlue checked in with us daily! We'll be back!

I reserved a condo on the 14th of July . I did not receive a rental agreement so I called on the 15th they said they would have the office contact me to take payment within 24 hours I called again on the 17th having not heard back and they gave my rental home away.

So recently we rented a house from Outer Banks Blu...

So recently we rented a house from Outer Banks Blue rental agency. The trip was with my extended family and our mother and was put together in memory of our beloved brother/son who died last summer in a fluke fishing boat accident. The house was upwards of 9000 dollars for the week. We ve never been to the outer banks before so we were all very excited. At first glance the house looked perfect! But as we slowly examined the house we noticed many things wrong ..and not things that could be ignored. Most of the ceiling fans were either broken or only turned very slowly. The remotes to the TVs were non functional and most did not have batteries in their backs. The MAIN tv which looked beautiful could not be used because the remote was not functioning. (After many calls they did send someone to fix it the last day we were there.)The pool filter did not function and the water was cloudy(they did send someone to fix it eventually) The grill was filthy and had old hot dogs in it from a previous renter. ( see picture) The couch on the bottom floor had old beer bottles and cereal in it(mind you we couldn t check in before 4 because of their extra cleaning). The basketball net rim was hanging from the pole and looked like it was going to fall any minute. One of the kids had brought a basketball down on his lap for 8 hours but even tho they came and got the rim they never replaced it. The swing set on the property was broken and had a hanging broken swing on it. One of the closets(that they knew about previously because they called the first day about it but never came out to fix it) leaked water from rain and smelled like mold and mildew..that was the room where 4 young teens slept. I called Monday and talked to someone in their customer service who typed everything down and said we would hear from someone. When the day went by and we didn t hear anything I called back and was told they had no record of my phone call. I then talked to Terry the manager who was condescending and never even apologized for all that we had to deal with until I begged him too. Another day went by and nothing, so my brother who is a state trooper called and spoke to Terry. Terry said to write down everything and send him a text. I want to emphasize that I d the company had been remorseful of everything we probably would have let it go..but they were horrible!!! Today we received an email saying they would offer us 200 dollars off our next rental with them...are they CRAZY!!?!!!!! Like we would ever rent with them again! Anyway..the purpose of this review is to let you know of all the trouble we had and a rental company that gladly took our money and offered NO restitution at all in response to all of our inconveniences. If we rented a place for 800, I could see this but 9000!!?!! I m beyond speechless.

They have been awesome. Midges are horrible right now. Our screened in porch was missing a screen. I notified them and within 36 hours of notifying them, the screen was replaced. The home is beautiful and was cleaned very well. OBX Blue cant help that there are midges everywhere but they sure did provide a clean, beautiful home and quick response to a maintenance request.

My family has been going through Outer Banks Blue for the last 3 years and we plan on coming back this year in June. We've never had an issue with contacting them when something wasn't working properly in the houses we've rented. Outer Banks Blue is an awesome company to rent your vacation home through.

We just returned from a week at A Wrighteous Time ...

We just returned from a week at A Wrighteous Time in Kill Devil Hills. The house was beautifully decorated in a beach theme and had a wonderfully stocked kitchen. We were even able to bake cookies on a rainy evening! The pool was clean and sparkling and the hot tub was wonderful. We enjoyed the pool table, also. The short walk to the beach, miniature golf, restaurants, and the grocery store made this a wonderful family vacation for us. Outer Banks Blue Realty was a pleasure to work with--we plan on returning next year.

We stayed @ Mermaid's lair for our 2017 vacation. This was our first year booking with outerbanks blue and we enjoyed our stay. We were treated good by everyone that we talked to. House was clean and loved the open floor plan it offered. I liked being able to text any concerns or issues and had a friendly response very quickly. We will use Outer Banks blue again.

This was our first rental from Outer Banks Blue (OBB). We stayed in Shades of Blue (KDH010) from 5/31 - 6/7 2020. Their online process for rental agreements and payments were easy to use. There was no additional charge for our dogs! It seemed the property owner and OBB collaborated to make a wonderful experience for the renters. The home was recently renovated and very well maintained. The home featured a touch screen information center and a Nest thermostat (very modern). There was a level, roped off area in front of the home for toileting our dogs (no more trolling through sand dunes!) The property was clean and ready for our arrival. We rented during the COVID-19 crisis. We had some concerns about contact with surfaces in the home. OBB posted a video showing their extra disinfecting processes which was very reassuring to us! Upon our arrival, we found a hand written note from OBB welcoming us to the home, and a welcome message on the information center. OBB also left a gift bag for us with beach towels and other amenities. Throughout our stay, OBB checked-in several times via text messages to see if we needed additional services. Check-out instructions popped up on the information center on the day of our departure. We did experience delays when phoning their office. An answering service took messages when we called, and the main office returned our calls within 24 hours. I believe the delay was due to employees working from home during the health crisis. We were very pleased with OBB and will rent from them again.

My family has been fortunate enough to rent homes a few years now from OBX Blue and there is a reason we keep going back. They have the best response time and effort by any other rental company we ve used along the eastern seashore and they always have a wonderful selection of homes in our price range that offer just what we need. If you re a newcomer to OBX or just looking into another rental company, I HIGHLY recommend Outer Banks Blue!!!

Recently stayed at one of your property's, slates beach house, have to say it was a terrible experience wouldn't recommend your property to anyone . in a world in which we are living a pandemic covid -19 this place was the filthiest had to clean it ourselves , very awful not to mention no one can control weather but it was bad so now we are stuck in the dirty house with no working televisions . the furniture was so discusting no one felt comfortable sitting on it!!!! The place should have been spotless considering the pandemic and we were the first of the season to stay there. The real estate company was of no help!!! Then we rented bicycles that were waited when we arrived my daughter got on one to go for a bike ride and said there was something wrong with the bike, I got on to check it out and realized the whole front end was put together backwards and the wheels were all loose she could have gotten hurt!!!! Wouldn't reccommend any of this to anyone!!! Also was in the hot tub something shorted out ,could be very dangerous, real estate company said they would send someone to check it , no one ever came!!! Would never rent from your company or recommend it to anyone!!!!! Also real estate person commented "they are not in the business for refunds they are in the business to make money" how very rude and inconsiderate we didn't ask for a total refund!!!

What started out a bit rough Sarah acted quickly and moved us to a different property. She went far beyond what she needed to do and I will be forever thankful. We have rented homes during Thanksgiving week from OBX Blue for the past 4 years. I have been especially pleased with the number of properties that are wheelchair accessible because I have used one since I was born. We love the great service that OBX Blue provides and how responsive they are to any questions we might have, even recommending area services for handicapped folks.

Casa Del Mar was everything I expected. If I were to rate the agent who booked me and the home itself, I would give them a five rating. When I booked this location my agent asked what the occasion was and I told her my 50th birthday celebration. When we arrived there was a bouquet of flowers wishing me a happy birthday from my agent. My celebration was fabulous, but ended on a sour note when Blue outer Banks vacations management arrived at our door the next morning with contract in hand stating they received a complaint about over crowding and too many cars parked on the street and grass. The two advised me that they don't allow for parties or catered events (of which nothing was catered each guest arrived with a dish). They proceed to speak about the septic tank and how over crowding can cause major problems. Well, did I mention that Casa Del Mar is a 9 bedroom 8 bathroom home that sleeps 26 people. Well, I had 32 guest of which five couples rented rooms at the Hampton inn and when management arrived the next day there were only 7 cars parked at the home. Did I mention that their were 7 BMW newer model cars, Lexus's and many other Luxury vehicles that attended my celebration and not to mention we are black Americans, which I believe was the real reason for the complaint. My guests are all professionals (Doctors, educators, retired military, retired police officers, active police officers, business owners etc.). Yet and still something illegal must have being going on because of our skin color. Shame on the person who made the complaint for their ignorant bias and shame on blue outer Banks management for entertaining that foolishness. This was my first time visiting the outer Banks and it was truly beautiful, but I had been warned that they do not take kindly to black Americans and I guess they proved right. So with that being said I will continue my stays at the outer Banks just not with this company.

Our daughter rented for Thanksgiving holiday. When...

Our daughter rented for Thanksgiving holiday. When we arrived on Wednesday we found the house not clean, and it appeared to have something on the sofa in the living room. We thought at first it was slugs. We cleaned the sofa and dusted and clean the counters. On Thursday morning which was Thanksgiving we discovered that a rat had eaten the pies that we left on the kitchen counter. How did we know it was a rat we found there rat poop. We could also hear them running around in the walls. we could not get a response since it was Thanksgiving however we did call the next day. They did send someone out who brought rat traps and placed him in the loft area and the addict. they also were aware of this problem because we also discovered another rat trap in the loft area. Upon returning the very next day they had caught two large rats and apologized. The toilet downstairs one of the bathrooms did not work and that had to be fixed. There were cobwebs and dirt everywhere. We did ask for some compensation and we're offered only $400 for our daughters inconvenience. every day that we were there we had to clean up rat poop and we had to wash all the dishes and silverware in the pots and pans before we ever could cook anything. Stay away from this company they do not back up what they say they did not disclose that they knew in that there was a rat problem. P.s. they just responded that they offered us another home. THAT IS A TOTAL LIE. We were never offered another home. You should be ashamed of yourself.!!!!?

My two children and I spent the week at a lovely house called "Aurora". It was clean, beautiful, comfortable, and everything we could have hoped for! We appreciated that the beds were made, and plenty of towels provided, as well as an ample supply of soap and toilet paper. The house really had everything we needed, and many extras that were appreciated. We had unusually rainy weather the week we were there, but still plan to return again next year! Many thanks for a relaxing vacation!

I have been renting from Outer Banks Blue the past several years and have always had great customer service and friendly knowledgeable encounters. They seem to go the extra mile for their guests to make sure they have a positive vacation. I like the fact that there are many perks included in their rentals (linens, towels, no extra pet fees). Their properties seem to be better maintained than other rental companies. Overall, I would highly recommend renting from them!

I am very pleased with Outer Banks Blue Realty. This was our tenth year renting in The Outer Banks and our first with Blue realty. Signing the lease went smoothly, questions were answered via email in a timely manner, and questions or concerns over the phone were handled in a professional and friendly manner. We rented a house in Corolla called A Promise Kept. We had 19 people in this house and were very comfortable. There was plenty of seating in the living and dining area for all of us, and the kitchen was large enough so that we weren't bumping into each other. The house also had one of the better game rooms that we have seen - a spacious room with a nice, comfortable sofa, a pool table in good condition, and a nice kitchenette area. The bedrooms were very nice and there were plenty of bathrooms. We had one minor issue with the washing machine during our stay that was handled on the same day that I emailed the office to let them know about it. The repairmen worked so fast and quietly that we hardly knew they were there. An overall great experience!

Stayed at Blue Sky.We love the now keyless entry so you don't have to pick up or drop off keys, the early check in option, and how communicative they are. They texted us during our stay to see how things were going. Also the $250 of beach gear for free is great! We've already booked for next year!!

Have used outer Banks Blue for vacation rental a couple times and was very pleased. We particularly like the key code feature so we don't have to actually go to the office when we arrive. They communicate quickly and efficiently and handed and minor problems quickly and efficiently as well. Everyone we encountered was pleasant and helpful.

Our family just returned from a week at "Foster" house just before Whalebone. The accommodations were superior! The hot tub clean & wonderful. Plenty of space for all 6 of us & 2 tots. I highly recommend Foster ..if you can get it.

we have been renting in OBX for 20 yrs and now rent exclusively through outer banks blue. you can reserve and know the price of the rental on line whereas
a lot of the other rental agencies allow you to put a hold on a house but don't know the rental costs til November. also very pleasant to deal with and when we have had maintenance issues they respond quickly. we also like the option of early check in.

Fays Sunny Days: We wanted to go through VBRO but did not realize that rental companies are now using VBRO. Tried to check in earlier but rental company wanted $150 to come in at 1pm as check in is 4pm. 1st night we get there we discover black ants all over the Kitchen, no trash bags paper towels, and barley toilet paper to cover all bathrooms. This was not an investment I wanted to make since a reality group was managing. Called next day and they sent a tech to spray. First night, the hot tub did not heat and there were no instructions on how to operate so we could not use. Although staff was good on helping us learn to operate and guided next day , we still needed help 3rd day to operate. Instructions would of been nice if they were provided on hot tub.....It would of been nice. My expectations were high now that we was using a realtor group but for the price I felt it was to high for the experience. 2 days of calling realtor was not fun.

We booked a house through this company and the experience was just terrible and they did not seem to care about our issues.

1) They did not let us check in until 9 PM because they were still cleaning the house. Check in was scheduled for 4 PM and they called us to tell us it wouldn't be ready until 6 PM. That was fine, but then we received no further communication. We arrived at the property hoping to relax and get our kids to the bathroom but we were told we couldn't enter until the cleaners leave. We had to wait outside for 1-2 hours with exhausted kids and parents.

2) The house basement and pool area flooded after a storm. We reported it immediately but the company didn't send anyone to clean the pool until 1.5 days later. We were not able to use the pool again because of this. We had to use towels to dry the basement ourselves. We had to spend a lot of time dealing with these issues when we were supposed to be relaxing...It cost us almost two days of our trip.

And what did the company offer us? $200 back! We spent more than $5k on the house and they weren't willing to refund us for a single day.

Don't recommend and won't use again.

Had a horrible experience with them when staying in their rental Hoakie Heaven in Kitty Hawk, NC.
While the location of Hoakie Heaven is great, we had several complaints that neither the homeowner nor the property management company thought were problematic.
First, there are roaches. They appeared daily in nearly every room of the home. The property managers came when we called to spray Ortho Home Defense which did nothing to alleviate the problem. They also refused to give us notice before they came despite our asking as we traveled with four small children under the age of four who we did not want to expose to the fumes.
Second, there is no warning anywhere to let you know that there is an electric current in the ground around the pool. When entering and exiting the pool, you experience an electric shock that passes through your body. Our children complained of pain from the shocks and therefore couldn t use the pool which is really one of the main reasons you would rent this home. Their response to this issue was as follows: I do apologize that you did not have as an enjoyable of a vacation as you would like to have had. However, there is nothing in this letter or in our findings at the home that will constitute any form finical consideration. The bugs and leak were addressed in a commercially reasonable manner and time frame. The ground current is a naturally occurring phenomena in this area that is not dangerous, cannot be predicted or controlled.
We have been to the Outer Banks 7 times and not once experienced either one of these issues. From brief research online, we found that the current issue is related to a pool not being properly grounded. Therefore, know going into renting this home that the pool will be an unpleasant experience and that you will deal with bugs all over the home. If that s your jam, then this is a good spot for the location, otherwise, look elsewhere where the pool is safe and the house is clean.

UPDATE:

Upon arrival home, we found roaches in our luggage. We now have to professionally clean any items we had at the house, including EVERYTHING we had to pack for our 2 children under the age of 4. As you can see by the below response, the owners and operators of this property don't believe this roach issue to be a "problem" at all.

I have lodged a complaint with the local BBB branch, and I also have emailed the health department of Kitty Hawk to ensure this issue does not happen to another family who has spend their hard earned money to be living a week in a house with bugs.

I have to agree with @hlove here. Same situation where we were scheduled to arrive on May 30th but live in a locked down state thru the end of May. Did not matter. As long as the BRIDGE IS REOPEN, you better be here or forfeit all. I lost 20% of my salary due to this pandemic, did not matter. Flights were cancelled and even if we could fly, 5 small children under 8 and we can not even sit next to each other on any flight, this doesn't matter. So long as this BRIDGE IS REOPEN there is nothing that should prevent you from getting here. I talked to 4 different reps, same scripted response. It made me feel like I was insulting them. I called another rental company in Alabama to cancel my in-laws reservation, they got full refund, no questions asked! When I did try to cancel with OBB they told me if the home is not re-rented during your week you basically lose it all. I said what is the likelihood given the circumstances that the home will re-rent...........<crickets>. Now I read the contract, and I was fully aware of the terms and also that of the travel insurance, but come on folks. The airlines and all other vendors including the rental company in Alabama basically relaxed the terms in an effort to provide relief. What happened to #WEREALLINTHISTOGETHER???? I was finally able to negotiate with the homeowner to delay my arrival to 2021. A generous thanks to them, but OBB will need to rethink its policies. I see some serious legal ramifications coming from all of this. Now it was only last week that I was able to move my funds to 2021 and the clients calendar had not opened up yet. I got a call today asking if i was ready to select my week for 2021. Come on folks! Never again with this company. And I would highly recommend anyone shopping for rentals explore ALL OPTIONS before renting with OBB.

Easy booking and great communication at all times prior to and during our stay at a beautiful property. Any questions I had were promptly answered via email, phone or text. They also helped me with beach concierge services. We booked the same property for 2021 within a few days of leaving.

Beautiful house, responsive customer service. We had some minor maintenance issues (burned out pool lights, etc); they sent out a guy named John that same day, and he went out of his way to make sure everything was set right. Will definitely choose properties from Blue again.

My friends and I stayed at Sunfish last week. The house was spotless with the exception of sand on the bedroom floors. The kitchen is stocked with every gadget you could possibly need. Every room was freshly painted and decorated beautifully. The only complaint is that the pool wasn't cleaned while we were there. The office was contacted but no one came out. If not for the pool situation, I would give them 5 stars.

Renters beware this company is horrible on so many levels. There cleaning service is the worst I've ever seen. Upon entering the home for the first time the washing machine was running (empty by the way) and there was a chicken bone on the floor. Bathroom shower liners have black mold and pet hair is hanging on the sides of the sofa and chairs. Carpets are stained with urine spots which smell especially in the stairway landings. Our washer which the cleaners left running when they left the home ran for 5 hours straight before my family could get it to turn off. It took 4 days before Outerbanks Blue could get the washer corrected. We had a family of 10 at the beach and we had no washer for 4 days. Unacceptable.
I could go on and on with the condition of this home but it is obvious to us that Outerbanks Blue company just does not care about their homes or their clients.

poor customer service. we've been visiting OBX for many years and have used different property management companies. OBB did not check on us once, even with having a broken/replaced stove and grill. No manager or rep came to receive the stove, they depended on me to take the paperwork etc for the stove, manage the workers in and out etc. One screen door was missing from the screened in porch, which made the porch full of bugs and unusable. Upon our arrival to the property there was cat poop on one of the decks. I called them a few times about the many issues with the property (1032 LIghthouse Dr, Corolla) before they replied. OBB fell way below my expectatations. I would recommend Shoreline Preferred or Seaside or Village Realty. So sorry to have to place this review here. Maybe they were having a tough week. Blessings to them.

The house was very easy to book. I LOVED the location. It's close to grocery stores, shopping, and has beach access right across the road. I also loved that every room has its own bathroom. The house isn't the most amazing that I've stayed in. It could use a deep cleaning and a few upgrades. However, it was worth the price and I'd stay there again. I also like that Outer Banks Blue Rentals is easily accessible with texting or email. We had a few issues while there and they got back to me very quickly.

I would recommend this house for sure.

Unfortunately we had the displeasure of staying at a blue rental near the beginning of September. We got there first it was not clean they told us it could be late as 6 till we get it cleaned then I called my mom who was told it had been cleaned so they got a new cleaning service out there who were very friendly and nice but still the house was not at the place it should be i will post the second post cleaning photos

Also had a fan light fall off the fan and fall 3 inches from my head.

Toilet paper holders were off with exposed screws, cobwebs, bugs, filthy carpets and furniture, dirty showers/bathrooms exc.

They did not have bed bugs so that is nice at least.

For some reason they change the code an hour before check out and my young sons were inside thankfully with my mother but could of easily locked themselves in the house since we would not of known the new code.

I expressed I felt my mom deserved a partial refund for the day we waited around for cleaning crews but I was told they don't give partial refunds for time wasted.

I do not think my family will be using one of the facilities from Blue again but I am sure some of the houses maybe nice just not the one we stayed in.

The staff at Outer Banks Blue made it simple and easy to book our reservation. Our rental was, simply, phenomenal!! It looked as if the owners and the property managers cared about it!.It was the first time we had had so many compliments from our family/guests. In fact, it was the first year out of eight years of vacationing on the Outer Banks that our family requested that we re-rent that same property. SO WE DID!!! We can't wait until Thanksgiving 2019. In the process of renting this property for 2019, I did have some trouble doing so on the internet, however, OBX Blue was so gracious and willing to help. I will definitely be recommending OBX Blue and the rented property to others!!!

Have rented from them for years at the same property. They try hard to deal with problems and most of the time are very good about maintenance, keeping appointments, etc. Over the years they have changed out gas grills (24 hours), replace door lock (6 hours), replaced fire alarm (4 hours) and responded to a cleaning issue (2 hours). Also responded to a lock out crisis of our own making...less than an hour. Houses are not perfect but we have always been pleased with the help we have received. It's why we stay with them.

Upon calling to rent I was told one thing but after signing, I was told another, they were unwilling to work with us because we were last minute bookers I would have cancelled altogether but don t want to lose the deposit or the amount we paid because they can t rent it to anyone else I would be more understanding if it were in season or anyone else was interested in the house but... or for that matter last minute.. it was three weeks out at least....but none of this is the circumstances....in other words they would rather not get our business than split the payment into two weeks.. the girl on the phone was polite but as a business, we will be taking our yearly (plus occasional long weekend) business elsewhere....

The broken dishwasher was known about before our arrival and still had not been fixed by the time we left. It sucks doing dishes by hand every day, for 9 people, while you are SUPPOSED to be on vacation.

There were a list of other things that needed fixed. A few of the things that WE didn't take care of, were taken care of by Blue while we were there. "If you see something, say something". Well, we did.... so you're welcome next renters of Sea Scapes.

A big complaint everyone had was how dirty things were. Air vents, lint trap in dryer, dishes... I suggest that someone do random walkthroughs to verify the work of the cleaning crew.

This is our second time renting with Blue. I hope you guys take customers suggestions to heart and work on changing some things.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. The customer service and organizational skills are severely lacking. I spoke with several agents regarding my rental and though Laura was kind, Heather who I'm assuming is the manager was abrassive and very rude. We were given inaccuarate information several times. It did not feel like a vacation...we cancelled due to covid and they refused to work with us on changing the date. At one point they told us bridge closures were in place and we would be getting a refund and then 5 days before our stay we thought was already cancelled they told us we were expected to show for our stay or lose our $1300 deposit. We forfeited our $ to protect our family and their residents. I know they are running a business but we were willing to work with dates or credit for a later time...this is an unethical coompany and they will never get another $ from this or my extended family and friends... SIDE NOTE: we did tell them we are from 3 different regions in NYS with the highest # of cases and we are all essential worker's that would face 2 week quarantine and possible job loss if we came down for the vacation, not to mention we could potentially expose residence in the 5 states we would have to travel through to get there... they don't care about humans just $...our stay was booked for the day bridges opened may 16th 2021... don't give them your money!

Don't book your vacation rental with this company. Go through VBRO so you don't have to deal with their terrible customer service (Terry). The rental would have been 3 stars (probably too generous) except this company's responses to repairs/issues during our stay was downright insulting. I tried reaching out to come to a resolution, but it seems that reviews are the only way to get the message through to them.

We paid $12k for one week at the beach and I expected a luxury and near perfect experience for that price and what the listing represented. It was far from that. Here is my letter to them describing the issues with our rental. In response, they only offered me a $200 credit to use towards my next vacation if I book with them. I AM NEVER BOOKING WITH THEM AGAIN. Unacceptable. And the response was a big f* you from them, in my opinion.

"Hi Outer Banks Blue team,

I stayed at your Avalon property with my family this past week in Duck, NC. We had a wonderful week and the weather was amazing, but unfortunately the house did not meet our expectations. I am writing this email to provide you with feedback on items that need repair and also to request a re-evaluation of our fees paid in light of these many complaints. The house is falling apart and damaged when you look beyond the nice decor and it is definitely noticeable even to those guests who are not used to fancy accommodations.

The first thing we noticed on arrival when picking out rooms was a dirty diaper on one of the bunk beds on the first floor. We made sure to book a house with enough rooms for everyone, but after seeing the diaper on the bed no one wanted to stay in that room all week. I notified Shelley via text and she sent new sheets, but the sheets did not arrive until the end of the next day and by then we had already figured out how to not use that room.
The second thing we noticed was that one of the dishwashers had mold inside and looked broken. I also notified Shelley of this repair and someone from maintenance stopped by the next day to fix it. It seemed to be fine after that but it was annoying to have to spend time coordinating repairs on our vacation.
The next thing was the sliding door to the patio in the master bedroom. When we tried to open the door to sit on the porch the door handle fell off and was severely rusted underneath. The maintenance person took a look at it and said he would return but that did not happen during our stay. We could not enjoy the ocean view patio from the master bedroom as a result.

The other items were cosmetic, but still important to bring up. The carpets had stains all over them, multiple boards on the porches were loose, and the pool grout was very cracked and in poor shape, the pool furniture was old and very worn, sand and trash was all over the porch when we arrived. We all tried to make the best of it, but the feeling from everyone was that at $12,000 for the week we wanted things to be pretty near perfect and they definitely were far from it. Please see the photos.
I believe that a fair resolution would be to at least refund us for the bedroom that we could not use which was 1/6 of the rental or about $2,000. We would also appreciate being refunded a portion for the repairs and damage that prevented us from fully enjoying the house.

I hope that this email helps improve the property for future renters, because the location is great and the decor was beautiful. We just felt that the listing and photos did not represent the home that we experienced.

We re staying at Sandfiddler.
When we arrived there were screens busted out, doors off the hinges and sitting next to closets, trash in and around the house and the gas for the grill and fireplace? Not a chance. The dishwasher leaks onto the floor and the inspector said he d reported the same issues over and over again and nothing ever happened. Even after we left a phone number with maintenance to possibly get the fireplace working they only ever left a door tag (maybe because the doorbell doesn t even work?). Never called the phone number we d left; never cared to. Stay far, far away from these folks unless you want a rental that looks like it barely survived the last kegger. Who knows if this stuff gets fixed for the next 2 days we re here, but as of now it all amounts to a terrific waste of money.

Outer banks blue was amazing! They were very quick with responsding. I was actually able to text them throughout my vacation, which was super convienient. We stayed at Inn Jeopardy and it was perfect! The house was gorgeous! We will definitely use them again!

Outer Banks Blue is the best place I have ever ren...

Outer Banks Blue is the best place I have ever rented from at the OBX. We have been using them for the last three years and have never been disappointed. Their vacation homes are always clean and operational. This year we rented The Greystone II in Kill Devil Hills from June 13-20 and was highly pleased with the home. It was immaculately clean just like the pre-arrival video stated. House had numerous outside decks to sit and relax as well as a screened in deck. A short 5 minute walk to the beach and businesses. The private pool and hot tub allowed us to enjoy quality family time together after being at beach during the day. It was a blessing to have an elevator which made loading and unloading things from floor to floor easy. It had a bonus living room with TV, full bath and mini fridge on the ground floor that allowed the kids to have their private time playing video games and watching TV. The staff always checks on your stay via text messages to assure that you are enjoying your vacation. Our family is looking forward to our next stay with Outer banks Blue.

My family and I stayed at one of Outer Banks Blue's rental houses and enjoyed every moment. The OBBVR team was quick with their responses to any issues we ran into and also did a fantastic job of cleaning the house (which was a more tasking project during COVID-19).

I highly recommend any of the rental properties through this company. You will love every second while you're there.

We had a very unhappy stay with Outer Banks Blue. Let me lay out the facts and suggest your sincere consideration.

My wife, two kids and I were in one of their homes called Looking Glass, a beautiful ocean front property they rent out. We were only here for three nights. We arrived Sunday night excited for our stay. We unpacked and went to bed, however when we woke up the next morning, there was a puddle of water on the kitchen counter. It appeared to be coming from the ceiling. There was not an active leak at the time, though, and so we called it in to their office and explained what happened. They were very courteous and asked if we wanted someone to come out then. Well, we were not that excited to have our vacation interrupted by home repair work, so we said that there was no water leaking at all now and it was just a small puddle so we would appreciate if it was addressed after we left.

However, we got up, got dressed and ready and went out for a brief lunch. When we arrived back at 1:00 pm there was a bigger leak and across a broader area of the kitchen. We did at that time call again to their office and suggest that some one come out. Of course, at that time no one knew how long it would take, whether it was a quite problem that was easily solved or a much longer ordeal. Well, one person came, then two then the owner and his son came. They were polite, but it was taking longer than we wanted. They thought they were wrapped up by about 3:30 or so, but then they came back and worked more. Ended up they were here until almost 7pm. When I spoke with Bill at their rental office, he said that any compensation for our inconvenience would be the owner's decision. The owner was here at the house and knew well what was going on and how it had interrupted our stay. So, I talked with him. He was not only not understanding, but frankly seemed utterly tone deaf to the fact that we were not happy to have four men sawing and banging and marching up and down the levels of the house. He was just plan rude and said he would not give us any compensation. I talked with Bill the next morning and he also said that the rental company could do nothing for us. I urged a simple fairness issue. While no one can help when a pipe gets a leak in it, that we as renters are responsible for certain things and that they as rentees are responsible for certain things. They had not provided us with the nice quiet beach cabin that we paid for.

In my opinion, Outer Banks Blue did not fulfill the contract. We had rented a house from you to have a quiet time with our family on the beach. Instead, we had one of our two full days in the cabin occupied for almost 7 hours with men who marched up and down sawing and hammering for hours. I can't imagine that that should be read as acceptable. I also have told friends we know who live in the Nags head, Kill devil hills area and they were astonished and said that they will tell their friends not to use your company. It is off season, so this is not the height of your busy period. I appreciate that the repairs too a long time to complete. But it is unbelievable that we should be expected to pay for such service as this. I would be ashamed of myself to have asked a renter to pay the full amount for a house of this condition.

In my opinion you couldn't pick a worse company to rent from... from the condescending attitude by Sara to the lies she told us .. to the miscommunication to the owner about our late checkout we paid for and had the owner show up while we were trying to pack...you can't have a dinner party... you can't have anyone stop by for coffee... they treated us like we were 22 year olds ...they are completely unreasonable! I can assure you my family as well as all the other families that vacation with us their every year... none of us will use them!

Sometime I read reviews and wonder is we are all on the same planet. Such is the case for our experience with Outer Banks Blue . . .

If you are fortunate enough to spend time on the Outer Banks, spend it at an Outer Banks Blue managed property. While it is hard to not like any OBX accommodation, agents vary greatly and can make or break a vacation. From initial inquiry to closing the door one last time after two weeks, Outer Bank Blue was with us. Everyone we dealt with was energetic, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, responsive and oh so professional. In sum: world-class customer service.

We especially appreciated the communication outreach -- both for routine matters and during Tropical Storm Isaias. Further, we were confident in and completely at ease with the company's COVID practices. (Wow, the summer that almost didn't happen!)

The accompanying photos record just a few or the great memories that OBX Blue helped make for us by taking care of business while we took care of the fun.

Sure there were maintenance issues . . this is a house directly on the Atlantic. What we appreciated was the timely response and remedy of the issues (slow running drain, dusty vents, unsecure shower head). What really impressed us was that pest control made a scheduled, routine visit during our stay to get ahead of any issues. Pests like the OBX as much as we do and this kept us from making a service call.

We unequivocally recommend Outer Bank Blue to handle your holiday. We have been vacationing here since our honeymoon almost 50 years ago and will be dealing with OBX Blue for years to come . . .

I recently made a reservation via OuterBanks Blue for Memorial Day weekend. I chose the house based on the description and what was offered. However, once we got to the location, the description was partially incorrect. They mentioned services and amenities (hottubs, locations, bedrooms, etc). We reached out to the office to let them know they falsely advertised and they said that even though they listed the amenities that it doesn't mean that it has to be working. So they did not try to rectify the issue at all. Long story short, call and confirm that you are getting what you are paying for.

Stayed this week in a house that is listed with yalls company, the Caribbean breeze, when we arrived the house wasn't cleaned properly, everyone's sheets on the beds were dirty, we called and they sent house keeping. She cleaned the floors but nobody did the sheets or vacuumed the rooms. Later on through the week we found other issues. We tried to use the jacuzzi tubs in the bedrooms, when we turned them on they shot black crap out everywhere, and one of the tubs had a broken water line and caused a flood in the bedroom. Now you can't even walk on the carpet without brown water shorting up out of the carpet when you walk. Nobody came and cleaned the pool or hot tubs, grass was up to our knees when we arrived. One of our guests that came with us, has almost like hickey marks on there back from where the hot tub dosent blow water out of the jets, it sucks water.

I mean we walked around the house and wrote a huge list of things and maybe only 5 were taken care of. It's pretty sad to spend this amount of money on a house for a week and it turns out to be crap.
