Dr. Mandel is an excellent surgeon, forthright and pleasant. I highly recommend him. The staff is is great and helpful. I have been having serious issue since I had ACL reconstruction by another (unnamed) surgeon 3 years prior due to a workplace accident. I knew something was wrong but I'm not a doctor and I figured it was just excess scar tissue. Unfortunately it was much more than that and Dr. Mandel did an excellent job. My knee is 2/3 the size it was before the surgery and that is with post-op swelling! I am still very sore 2-1/2 weeks out but from the extent of the procedure that is expected. I am happy God led me to him. Since it is a work injury I hope Dr. Mandel can provide me the detailed documentation I need. For now I will give 4 stars but if he can help with that I will return to add another star (though I would prefer to give 6 more) for the overall experience.

Had a knee injury that resulted in surgery with Dr Mandel. Having had 2 arthroscopies on my other knee, I knew what to expect. Dr Mandel was very professional and thorough and certainly would put a novice at ease. He answered all my questions and I never felt rushed. My surgery was uneventful with a very easy recovery. Thank you Dr Mandel for your expertise. I highly recommend him.

The physicians are top notch. Nurses are wonderful. Front desk? Not so much. After telling the receptionist on my way out that the doctor wanted me back in 3 weeks. She asked what time of day I preferred, which I told her. I also told her any day was fine. She filled out my receipt and my appointment was written on my receipt and I put it in my purse. The next day, I noticed that she had scheduled me for follow up in five weeks. When I called to change it to three weeks, they were unable to secure me an appointment. The earliest they could get me in was four weeks. Doesn t seem like a problem on the surface, however, when one is wearing a cast, one week does make a difference. Just saying this is a former medical professional... I know you re busy in the front desk, please pay attention to your patients.

I had ACL surgery in March of 21. I was a college athlete, currently a firefighter paramedic and a baseball coach. When I first sat down with Dr. Mandel he assured me of the quality of rehab at OA. First, I am so thankful of how fast I was able to get surgery from the first time I walked through the door. I think 8 total days. And the care I received after was top notch. I have done PT for a few sports injuries in the past and have never been impressed with the cookie cutter stick to the same sheet of paper for each injury that walked through the door. It was exciting to sit dow the Dr. Hughes and go through my plan and see how quickly my recovery would be. After about 2-3 months my recovery came to a halt due to long on going back issues from my military service that have been over looked and neglected for years. I am so unbelievably thankful for the pta that has gone above and beyond helping ALL issues going on that will ultimately improve my daily lifestyle. She helped treat issues long over due and made a plan very specific to ME not just another ACL to walk through the door. Mrs. Tucker has shown a great passion in helping her patients and I am truly great full. At my fire department we have had a string of knee injuries and ALL of them have been recommended and had surgery with OA, I have also recommended my youth athletes that are recovering or just need some added strength to help them all based on the care I received by the Dr s and Ms. Tucker. Thank you for all the help!

Long but very honest review.

Long but very honest review.

Definitely would recommend looking elsewhere if at all possible.

I worked with Dr. Shaia for spinal issues and he was just alright. He's friendly and by no means unprofessional, but everything is EXTREMELY rushed with him; to the point where I couldn't even remember half of the issues that I wanted to discuss, not that I'd have the chance to even if I did.
Another issue that I have is each time that I saw him, it was as though it was my first visit. He doesn't remember a lot of the things you discuss in past visits, important things that should probably be documented.

His secretary, Jessica, is absolutely AWFUL. She is extremely rude and not helpful whatsoever. You can tell she's bothered to even have to speak with you. I have never experienced a more unprofessional and unpleasant secretary in my life. It was so bad that I did everything in my power to not have to speak with her because she was so off-putting. If I had spoken to her to begin with, I would have never chose to come to OAI in the first place.

The billing department is also miserable when speaking on the phone. I had a lot of spinal procedures done here, and attempted to work out a monthly payment plan; the woman on the phone was very snarky and not friendly at all.

I've also overheard the way that the front desk staff speak with the elderly patients, and it actually heartbreaking to witness.

Overall not the best experience, and I probably will not be returning. You go here to get better because you're most likely already suffering from whatever you're seeking help for; you don't need to be more miserable from how awful you are treated in the process. It's beyond sad. Strongly suggest to go elsewhere.

If there is zero star I will give them. They wanted to do surgery for my daughter for a very simple injury. We told the doctor that we are not willing to go with the surgery option and will use a splint instead. Two days later we received a call from the office that our surgery is scheduled in a later date. Later I received a bill from them for three services, I called the office and the lady explained one of them as a charge for (how to use and clean the splint). I am glad that they did not charge me for greating me twice when I came and when I left. Never going to them again!!

I have graduated from physical therapy with my shoulder 100%. From Dr. Mandel and his staff to the excellent therapists that worked with me, I want to thank each of you. I have and will continue to wave the flag of Orthopedic Associates to all of my family, friends and co-workers. I cannot believe that better care is given anywhere.
Thank you

If I could give Orthopedic Associates zero stars, ...

If I could give Orthopedic Associates zero stars, I would. BEWARE OF DR. LEW. I saw Dr. Lew back in January for an injury that I had sustained to my foot. Dr. Lew made me wait 45 minutes to be seen and only saw me for 5 minutes. His assessment was that my ankle was really messed up (his words verbatim) and that I needed PT that was going to be really hard. What Dr. Lew failed to notice in his 5 minute exam of my foot was that my anterior tibial tendon was completely lacerated and non-existent when I lifted my foot up. Due to the fact that he and his nurse (who was very rude) ignored me and sent me to PT instead of going to get an MRI, by the time I got to a competent orthopedic doctor (who noticed the tendon wasn t functioning properly immediately) the tendon was 4 cm apart. This meant that instead of just fixing the tendon, I had to have a donor tendon inserted. What I experienced as a patient of Dr. Lew was nothing short of complete incompetence and gross negligence. I blame him and his nurse for the fact that I had to have a more invasive surgery than would have been necessary had Dr. Lew examined me properly and not sent me to PT, which worsened the injury. Had I not sought out a second opinion, I would still be walking on a lacerated tendon. I would warn anyone against using this office and I especially caution you against seeing Dr. Lew.
