Not worth the price for a glass. Unfriendly, wine isn't taste full like other wines worth 20$ at a liquor store for a bottle. Neat facilities nothing good to say other than that.

The Zen Palace of US Wine. The wine is amazing, and the winery inspirational. An expensive visit, but well worth it. Staff and setting are formal, but approachable and attentive. The production tour was highly informative - thank you!
We came here because of the prestigious name and the amazing building. We thought the property and building were really impressive. We sampled a glass of their wine up on the terrace which was really nice. It is a shame that they didn't have any other tasting options besides the steep price for a glass, so we ended up sharing it. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could
There are staff who speak Japanese. Tasting is $ 25.
Extremely pretentious company which enjoys making other enthusiasts sink. Stupid and futile.
Visited when they opened their new tasting area, summer 2015
Friendly staff
Walk in tastings allowed
They have tastings of only one really nice vintage - $45 for a 4oz pour - it is really good
They also have baskets of water crackers in the tasting room.
Ambiance:
- Terrace has very nice view of the mountains and vineyard
- You park right next to the vineyard
- The building is a round, monolithic fortress-like structure from the outside.
Very elegant but not too pretentious as expected, which was good. Great wine.
Opus One is the result of the joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild (Mouton-Rothschild) and Robert Mondavi (now Constellation since 2004). This domain is located in Napa Valley in California and its first vintage is 1979. The domain receives 50,000 visitors per year.
I tasted the 2010 vintage, it was okay, nothing more, certainly not worth the 60$ price for a glass
After drinking some of this wine, it is the first time to come to the place of origin
There is much better wine for a lot less money elsewhere
We had gone to celebrate my birthday and we loved the ambience, very peaceful and upscale! Our guide Kalab was very friendly, let us take our time to enjoy and shared a lot of knowledge about the wines and vineyards which enhanced our experience and went home learning something new. He even told us about the upcoming plans of the winery which was great as we are sure to return!
Where to apply for a tour in advance...Advanced winery
Unfortunately the winery was closed for tastings but this place looks amazing.
Order the wine, don't waste your time on the winery. The service is terrible.
Just recalling our experience here when the concierge asked if my wife and I were a Trojan Horse and if other people like us were waiting outside. Beware wearing khaki shorts and a polo shirt here! Judgment will be passed.
The luxury aisle in Napa. This compound is incredible.
Beautiful winery with fantastic tasting room. Knowledgeable staff. Appointment needed. Excellent wine. Tastings are expensive depending on what you want to taste. We tasted 3 wines, $60, $40 and $20 a glass.sat in roof terrace. Beautiful
Overwhelmingly luxurious building compared with the surrounding wineries.
This tasting on the roof terrace is also exceptional.
At the time of 2010, the tasting was $ 40 and the second overture was remembered as $ 45 / book.
I bought a case and drank it over a year.
It is a place I want to go back to when I go to SF.
Beautiful winery. $45-$60 for a tasting - they offered the 2012 vintage and reserve selection. This is a great ending spot for a Napa tour. Note that they only serve 1 wine to you, so it's really one tasting, rather than multiple glasses. You're primarily coming here for the scenery, as it's quite amazing!
If you're coming here for the wine, I'd recommend you just dish out the $200+ for a bottle and enjoy it with friends. Come here for the scenery, not the wine!
It is worth checking in one by one. But there is almost no inventory in good years. Single trip is a bit expensive.
Awesome once you are inside, reminds me of a place a king and queen would live. Expensive yet delicious. A bit Napa snooty.
Very nice wine with a landscape that fits postcards. Relly beautiful and a reason to spend some time enjoying the moment.
Wine is elegantly tasted on a vast site. You can enjoy a glass of wine while looking out at the vineyard on the terrace. I'm not familiar with wine, but Opus One seems to be a good wine. Because of that, the tasting is a little higher, but I think it is worth visiting.
Exceptional welcome in a unique place. The quintessence of wine.
The gentleman in partner's room ask me to accept the glass wine I bought with fly inside and he told be it is binary while wine producing! Really????
Excellent tour, however a 40 minute tour with only a taste of wine in the beginning e.g overture, ouch, and a small pour of opus at the end for $160, what a scam. Prices at vineyard no better than at home. Skip this place, if you have to have their wine, just buy it at home, it's not hard to find. For me, I won't visit again or frankly ever buy their wine again. Another napa vineyard with a little too high an opinion of itself
Taste their famous opus one 2013, great taste but a bit overprice.
Opus One winery is also popular in Japan. Located in Oakville, the heart of Napa.
I visited Napa and Sonoma wineries in more than a dozen places.
The building itself is beautiful, and the view of the vineyard from the terrace seats on the second floor is worth visiting as a tourist spot.
Paid tasting is of course expensive, but it's rare to compare Opus One's vintage drinks in Japan.
Drinking wine while looking at the view from the terrace seats is the best.
When I tell people I went to Opus One, the first thing they ask is, "where they all like snobby and pretentious?" The answer is no quite the opposite.
In fact this might be the most enjoyable visit to any winery, anywhere. And I've been to wineries all over the world. I think what people forget is this winery is a combination of the best of two cultures French and American. Over thirty years after its creation, Opus One still exhibits the vision of the two founders.
Everything about Opus One winery is about crafting the highest possible quality wine from the meticulous vineyard management to the high tech lab to the entire winemaking facility.
Whatever your opinion is of the winery, you can't deny Opus One's place in the world of fine wines. People who leave negative reviews might be forgetting this winery experience is meant to be different than many other winery experiences. It is what it is, and I absolutely loved visiting Opus One!
I want to go there once
The price is high
It is better to make a reservation when it is crowded
Laura was a beyond lovely hostess. She walked us through the offerings - Overture, 2016, and 2014. She also explained the upcoming modifications to the property that are still coming in the next 9 months or so. For my mother and grandfather this was not their first visit, and while it was my first visit Opus is forever elegance in the most beautiful setting. Being able to relax and enjoy the flight as well as enjoy the glass after the flight without being rushed around was so wonderful - that's seemingly the prerogative of most of the wineries.
Think I had higher expectations. Glass of tasting from $50~ and most of the wine we had tasted too early. Great facilities but not utilized well enough. When in Napa, I have a lot more recommendations that I wouldn't spend too much time here.
Visited by paid tasting (required) because it was included in the winery tour, as others say it should go once in a lifetime. The scenery and taste are the best but the price is the best, when I went there it was very vacant and I could enjoy tasting in the quiet courtyard and the atmosphere was outstanding. It seems to be insanely higher than in the past
As soon as you enter the room, you will be struck by the scent of wonderful wine. Second label is recommended.
Very elegant place. They taste by the glass. The non vintage is $25 for a 4 oz glass. Their 2014 was $50 and the 2012 was $65. Arrived without a reservation and they were very nice and I got a tasting with minimal waiting. This place is not for everyone but then again neither is their $300 bottles.
Love the wine yard and the professional staff. Pity that I did not have the opportunity to dine in. Not forgetting the wines too!
Very formal and high end compared to other wine tasting experiences. You basically only get one glass of wine but it's worth it. The staff is super personable and knowledgeable.
The famous cult winery of Napa Valley You need to call one week ahead to register a tour.
I went on a winery tour from San Francisco.
The tasting was $ 50 a cup. Delicious but a little expensive.
Beautiful grounds, just as expected from a vineyard at this price point. Service was good but lacked the wow factor. Wines seemed a little overpriced at 300+ for the most affordable cab. Wine itself was good but again, lacked the wow factor.
Very pretentious and way over the top on expense.
It is no where near the experience or the flavors of Stag's Leap or Cakebread Cellars selections.
It was very pleasure time. I visited Opus one for 90 min touring. Staffs were so kind and had very highly etiquettes. They served welcome drinks which was Overture and 2014 Opus one . If you want to tour, you should make a reservation on the website. I saw the basement of winery and a tour guide told about history of this wine. I highly recommend this winery when you head to Napa. One thing I was disappointed that in February, the grape trees were so gaunt. There were no leaves, no grapes. I recommend go to Napa in Summer.
The wine is one of the best in the US. The space is monumental. However, because the demand is so high, the tour doesn't offer a lot of extras. Additionally, since the range of products is pretty narrow, there are not a lot of exploration as in other winery tours.
The communications manager, Morgan, is extremely kind to answer my questions. She solved the problem promptly with sincere attitude. I will definitely visit Opus One in the future. Thank you.
Absolutely amazing wine. Beautiful property and so kind and professional. We accidentally mixed up our times scheduled and they still accommodated us. Will definitely return.
The price might be very high compare with Silver oak and RM, but you have to find out yourself why Opus One is Opus One. Please take the tour to see it for yourself.
Our fav winery in Napa.
Tips:
make an appointment few days in advance (especially for weekends)
Deff try and head down the cellar ( which is right under the trees of the grand entrance)
Tip your server well, they will take care of you
Cons:
There is no tasting. Only by the glass. Starts at $50 ( but worth it)
Beautiful property and building. Great views of the valley. Very friendly, helpful staff but not stuffy. Tasting by appointment only.
The construction of the building that was supposed to end this summer is long, and tasting is in the prefabricated hut. Even though it is a prefabricated hut, it is set up with Opus One.
Beautiful winery. When we went it was cold outside but they have a nice terrace where you can take your glass and take in the view while you enjoy their wine. Tasting is expensive but the 2014 ($65 for a glass) was exceptionally good.
Was somewhat disappointed. Came looking for world class wine, but instead found a hidden Illuminati Temple. 2/5
Very high end winery. Reservations are recommended. The building it self is spectacular. One of the best wines in the region
Simply the most iconic winery in Napa Valley. Unmissable
Make reservations. What a great experience to taste such wonderful wines.
Got a bottle of Merlot 2008 from a friend for Christmas. .really like the favor
I came to the winery, the staff does not have a pleasant attitude about its demeanors. I felt like that I was ushered to the exit door when I came without reservation. If I came to your winery, you better believe it that I am going to buy your wines. I rather take my dollars to those who appreciate my business.
You can not enter unless you make a reservation.
There are a variety of tours available with transfers from San Francisco, but most tours have less choice of wineries to go to, and tend to go to regular courses, so there is less local freedom.
If you want to go around the winery for your own preference, it is much more flexible to make your own reservation online and move on your own.
During my stay in San Francisco, I traveled from the ferry building to Vallejo, from where I went to Napa Valley by uber.
We went around several wineries other than opus one, but we can move enough on a day trip.
The tasting while looking at the fields was exceptional, though I thought that the tastings that mattered were really delicious, but now that the same taste is also cheaper.
I think it's good to go there once.
2008 !!

Robert Mondavi Opus oue
Robert Mondavi .
Our guide and wine educator Sandy was very personable, knowledgeable, courteous, respectful and mindful to my girlfriend and I. We are only in our mid twenties, and Sandy treated us not like royalty and not like peasants but as genuine individuals with an intrigue for wine and all of its components.
Sandy described very accurately and specifically the role of every person at Opus One. The facility is magnificent, state of the art, beautiful, and timeless. Opus One is legendary and entails extreme historical significance.
It is an honor to tour and marvel the facility considering Opus One s role in the Napa Valley. A highly acclaimed winery in the New World which romanticizes and respects the roots from the Old World. Keep in mind when you visit here, you are not there only to appreciate what is in your glass. You are there also, to hear first hand the story of Robert Mondavi, Philippe de Baron Rothschild along with every single Farm Worker, Architect, Concierge, Artist, Landscaper etc. that helped shape the Napa Valley into the ultra premium wine region it is today. If you enjoy history and beautiful architecture, you will enjoy your visit to Opus One.
Thank you for sharing your winery with us! It was a wonderful experience!
Joyce was awesome! Loved the history and also the Wine! 2009 and 2013 were unreal. Thanks again!
The king of California wine? ! OPUS ONE winery.
You can also participate in winery tours if you do in advance.
Don't miss the wonderful tasting room.
