It is one of the important churches to visit in Florence, even if you can not see inside because one of the days only allowed entry to the marathon runners that weekend had, and the next day they did not allow to enter because they were out of schedule although at the door there was an unsafe security

Very impressive from the outside but a bit underwhelming on the inside (in comparison to all other gorgeous basilicas we visited). I'm it has a lot of beyond valuable work but I'm not enough of an expert to see that and be able to judge its worth at a glance. Extremely long lines, so either come early in the morning (without a ticket they open at 10, with ticket at 8:30), or right before closing (4:30) then the line will be about 20 minutes.

A wonderful church, the churches in Italy are always something
special and all have a special atmosphere. This is also the case in this church. If it is possible you should always visit the churches on the way, no matter if
famous cathedral or simple
Town or village church, all are always something special in their own way, we have experienced in Rimini 2 churches, about 1.5km apart,
at the viale Elena, each one different but both beautiful
And adorned and cared for with love.

The beautiful basilica was designed by Arnolfo di Cambio between 1294 and 1385 and owes its name to a splinter of the Holy Cross donated by King Louis IX of France in 1258. It was consecrated in 1442 by Pope Eugene IV. Made in marble, in More

Santa Croce, rebuilt for the Franciscan order in 1294 by Arnolfo di Cambio, is the burial place of the great and powerful of Florence: Michelangelo, Rossini, Macchiavelli and the Pisan Galileo Galilei, who was condemned by the Inquisition and who, therefore, he could not have a Christian burial until 1737, or 95 years after his death. There is also a memorial monument to Dante, but his sarcophagus is empty (he was buried in Ravenna after his exile from Florence).

Beautiful the church and the various tombs that it contains, in my opinion an exaggerated ticket price for what can actually be seen. Surely the visit is better if you use the free guide service.

Unfortunately, we were 5 minutes late and we didn't get to see the temple inside. From the outside it presented itself very effectively. 5 stars for historical and architectural values. Sightseeing (during the holiday season, I don't know at other times) is only possible until 17.00. Guide and websites say 17.30.

It is the Pantheon of the Italians. One of the memorials of the unification of Italy and the great men who made Italy great in the world. It is also a treasure chest that preserves the works of the artists who have contributed to the history of art and architecture. If you are in Florence, a visit to this church is a must, which in Stendhal thrilled to such an extent that you experienced what is now called Stendhal syndrome.
