Worth alloting time to visit if you are in Florence. Huge, awe inspiring, elegant space with beautiful frescos and sculptures . You will also learn about the various floods, notably the flood of 1966 and their impact in the city, which is a valuable history lesson.

The facade resembles the style of Il Duomo, but the rest is Franciscan (it's the biggest Franciscan church in the world). A must-see in Florence, also Michelangelo, Galileo and Machiavelli are buried there.

In this Franciscan Gothic church you can breathe the air of the poetry of Ugo Foscolo inspired by it, calling it "Temple of Italy and glories". In addition to the aforementioned poet who wished to be buried there, Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Galileo, Rossini, Leon Battista Alberti and Vittorio Alfieri rest here, many great men who marked the artistic history of Italy. Many sepulchres and many works exhibited there, including tombs that represent priceless sculptural and pictorial masterpieces: think that Vittorio Alfieri's tomb was made by Canova. The entrance ticket costs 8 euros but it is absolutely worth it: in addition to the church you can visit the adjoining convent (cloisters, refectory and Pazzi Chapel) which displays the crucifix of Cimabue and the Last Supper by Giorgio Vasari, to its former glory after a restoration that lasted for years following the devastation suffered on the occasion of the tragic flood of Florence in 1966. Here we celebrate the art that survives everything!

A really beautiful church, grounds, cloister and museum. Plan on spending several hours here. We visited three years ago, and would have revisited two years ago, but it was closed for restoration. It is a very special, holy space.

The church of Santa Croce is famous for being a sleepy place for the great men of Florence.
There are monuments in place of the cemetery, but there are famous people such as Galileo, Michelangelo, Dante, Leonardo Bruni and others.
Entrance fee to Santa Croce Cathedral 6
The interior of the cathedral is huge.
I thought you shouldn't take pictures inside, but many people are taking pictures.
However, no flash.
Santa Croce Cathedral has a lot to see.
