Situated just outside the Sydney Opera House along the lower walkway, The Opera Bar has always been one of my favourite places for a couple of drinks, good food accommodated with a rich and extravagant atmosphere and view.

The Food? Fish and Chips how could you go wrong? Well, to be honest, I have always loved my fish and chips, well seasoned with the taste of fresh fish without heavy batter. This is what I came for, a balance between batter, fish and salt.

Now, who could forget the taste of oysters, well, for all those Oyster lovers out there, we all know there are different types of oysters which can be accommodated with different herbs and spices as well as preparation. Let's just sum it up, the oysters are fresh, with a buttery taste a key attribute to NSW's Coffin Bay.

Recommend. However, be mindful this is a tourist-filled area, price point comparison of your meals compared to Sydney Fish Market is a lot higher but either way a nice place to hang out to catch some rays or the gentle breeze.

Average quality food and the drinks are seriously expensive. Great location, great views and the staff are friendly. Very hard to get a table outside - you have to plan to hover for a while until someone leaves.

Visited with some friends for the cocktail festival in mid-November. Service was great; everyone is very friendly and happy to help, even the ones who probably had to repeat the same things ten times over to a million different customers. Food is 'eh,' nothing to write home about and a bit on the pricy side. Drinks are better but also not cheap. But really you're paying for the view and ambience.

Be careful and dress in layers; especially if you're sitting in the upper area by the water (best photos). It can get quite hot if the sun is beating down on your back and then suddenly cold when the sun goes down. View is great either way, though.

Seagulls can be a real pain in the butt always watch your food. ALWAYS.
Fortunately they have someone with a dog running up and down whose only job is to bark at and scare away seagulls, it's pretty funny/cute though.

To be fair, the million dollar view surrounding the opera bar has already elevated it to cult status. What has kept it there over the years, is the delicious food, great service and changing/seasonal menu. The price tag isn't too hefty to accompany the views. Be sure to check it out during the day (as well as the evening,) to get the best of the Sydney sun whilst you people watch.

If you want to eat the most convenient is to try the pizza :)"

As an Australian, I am ashamed to have a bar like this in such a iconic location. Food and drinks were standard but the bar is let down by the rude and ill mannered wait staff. Without asking, a staff member started wiping down our table while we were sitting at it, Failing to even lift our drinks, he pushed them around with a dirty towel. Later, another two staff hovered around our table, waiting to snatch our not-yet-empty glasses. I suggest avoiding this bar and trying one of the many better establisments in the area.

The view, the view, the view! It gets pretty crowded in the early evenings and the food isn't that great. But what a view! Not to mention the constant battle with the seagulls who are always in the lookout to snatch your food :). They have a crowd pleasing alcohol menu and the cocktails are as described. Service is super friendly but a little harried as they've just re-opened after the pandemic shutdown. Overall definitely worth a visit.

The view is undeniably quality. But the rest of the bar is shocking. The drinks are way over-priced, the food is terrible and also over-priced. But the arrogance of it is, they don't care because the know people want to sit there and admire the view. Don't waste your money there

An incredible view, and worth the trip. But, expect overpriced drinks, just OK food, and most importantly, bartenders that clearly don't give a damn about their customers. Thanks the reason for 2 stars

The view is out of this world. But it's just too big and soulless and it's always packed in summer - unless it's 3pm on a Monday afternoon. Great to grab a drink at before a show at the Opera house, not so great to hang out at for hours on end.

This place has improved immeasurably since it reopened. Table service. Beer in pint glasses. More tables. A lovely dog to chase off the birds. Was fully booked on a Tuesday so don't show up without a booking. Oh. And $30 for 2 drinks. But it was always pricey. Forgiven.

The best place to hang out on a Sunday mid-day.. Specially after a crazy party weekend!!

They have various live performances on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.. The sunset is something not to be missed specially if you are travelling in Sydney!!

- Price - Nothing worth mentioning.. (standard prices)
Finding a seat can be quite difficult at times.

Fantastic bar with fantastic views. Every time I have visitors from overseas or out of town, I take them here to enjoy the harbour views. The drinks are also quite good and cocktails well made. It does come with a higher price tag, but well worth it for the view you get.

Wonderful place to be for night time views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Not 5 stars because very, very busy and very noisy. We were unable to get a seat unless we were going to eat in the restaurant.

Food was awesome. Had the seafood platter and the only steak available on the menu. The food came out nice and quick but we were then ravaged by the local wildlife. Food I'd give a 4.5.
Service 4.5. It's the seagulls that killed it.
