Great museum with lots of hands on activities. Definitely a family/kids museum, it was complete madness and felt like I needed hand sanitizer the whole time. Would love to check out the Plantarium one day

This is a phenomenal place for both children and adults! We have been very grateful to have the opportunity to come here numerous times, all of which were very fun, exciting, and adventurous. For the Young at Heart, the adults, I suggest the Omsi After Dark! It's a great time to socialize, drink good drinks, and have some fun without the kids! I find their rotating exhibits are very fascinating. All-in-all, I highly recommend Omsi, they always do a very good job for me and my family.

What a fun place for both children and their parents. The place is so huge we could not go through everything in a day.
Your children will learn by playing, which is the way to go!
We have an infant and a preschooler. There was a big playroom you get in without shoes on you and it has a fenced infant play room where non-walkers or a mature walkers can play safely.
Good place to take a break for parents too.

Their cafeteria has surprisingly good foods. The quality is good, the quantity is great, and the price is average.
We went there on the first Sunday. Hence the admission fee for an adult was 2 dollars.

We ve been going to OMSI since the 80 s, but it had been about 3 years since our last visit. We went this time because of the Pixar exhibit, which turned out to be fantastic. Spent a good 2 hours in that exhibit alone. The rest of the museum unfortunately is a shell of its former self. Much has been removed and it feels very dated and empty. 5 stars for the Pixar exhibit; 3 stars for the rest of the museum.

This is a great place for children aged 1 and up! They have a great "playground" area upstairs that is for children under 6 (they even have a small infant area in there). There are also a lot of great interactive exhibits that children and adults will enjoy throughout!

Great hands-on science museum! Restaurant, gift shop, great permanent exhibits, and interesting visiting exhibits. I once saw Egyptian mummies there (no touching, of course). They also had a Sherlock Holmes forensics exhibit. And dinosaurs. And many other visiting exhibits.

Great place for kids. There are so many activities for kids of all ages. They even have a cute area with a fish tank close to the ground for babies who can't walk. I recommend going when it first opens so that your child can run around, then around 11 the resturant opens(which has great food). I was surpised on the amount of parking spaces were available, which is always great. My only complaint about the restaurant is that they didn't have fruit bowls for kids and had to pay extra for a small bowl of berries.

If doing the sub tour and really want a thorough experience, catch the technical tour. planetarium was neat, except fpr the young girl in front of me wanted to "snap" (or whatever you kids say) the whole thing. a swift kick to the back of her chair stopped that. be sure to check what special exhibits are there. other than that, I'd bring my child here once she gets older (5 - 10).

We took my kid here about a month before his 8th birthday. Before the trip, he said he didn't like learning. But he spent a lot of time in the chemistry lab asking about what all of the molecules do. He also seemed to love the robot exhibit, and very nearly chose a robotics kit as his souvenir.
Even without the kiddo, we love seeing the special exhibits, as well as the movies. The accessible seating is up the elevator, but they sat us before general seating, so we could be sure to have enough room.
There's quite a few single occupancy bathrooms scattered around the museum, and all of the ones I've used were larger than standard accessible bathrooms. I very much appreciate the extra room!

Great family activities for all ages. Went on a rainy day and spent hours with elementary school kids and adults highly entertained. Brain puzzles, science, things to build, animals, engineering, tons of things to do. We bought the basic tickets and avoided special exhibits. Memberships save you money, don't get you in free. We didn't get to all the stations or rooms.

Great place for little kids and big. Lots of hands on things. My youngest loves the sand box. I am annoyed that the main exhibit always costs more. And everything else seems to too. Like why have a 170+ membership and then still have to pay for the shows.

A lot of the reviews note that this is for kids but actually adults can learn a lot also if you are lucky. There are loud bacteria-ridden kids all over the place so learning something can be a task. Basically the environment is kind of like giving two monkeys, one banana. Plan to arrive early and avoid rainy weekend days as they are the most crowded. Visiting the planetarium can take away from time exploring the massive display area - if you want to see the stars, drive out of city limits and look up. There are many inactive teaching activities and so many it is hard to see it all in a day. OMSI needs an adults only day.

Submarine tour is one the best here. Lot of Engineering hands of activities.I have been in lot of museums but this one has THE BEST exhibits kids can experience. ex: electricity transfers, picture with Einstein. If accompanied with adult who is engineer you have whole day to spend. Good part is volunteers who help kids to understand the concepts.

Great place to bring the family. They have a submarine that u can tour keep in mind it is 5 dollars extra, they also have a planetarium, definitely a must see, it is so kool the kids will love it. Drove here to see "King Tut", waited in line for an hour after trying to find parking and sold out. Waste of time... We will not recommend OMSI to anyone. Why even have an Xzibit you can't see or have limited viewing.

Over priced, over crowded. Could not enjoy the Pompeii exhibit because of the cattle-call crowd. Could not even get close enough to some of the exhibits to read about them. Over hyped, under whelmed.

Extrememly dissapointed in how we were treated. A last moment decission to visit the Pompei Exhibit and did not have my parking pass or Memebership Card. Brett was unfriendly. He struggle to find my membership even with my information in front of him. He was unable to help with validating that I had purchased a year long parking pass and I was charged an additional fee without apology. No smile or thank you.
We received two tickets to the Theater ony to find out that it had nothing to do with the Pompei Exhibit, as we were told and that the Planetarium is closed. The Volcano experience was, to say the least, underwhelming and a childish.
The exhibit was otherwise fascinating but now that I have to pay each time and have tickets that I can't use, I won't be back. Or renew my membership.

Great place for all ages! Attractions for teeny tiny to adults. Nights for just 21+ with drinks and food samples as well as food to order. Prices are kinda high buy worth it if you make a day of it to take in all the museum had to offer! Very educational, fun, hands on. Must go!!!

About OMSI

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is a premier science center located in Portland, OR. It is one of the most popular attractions in the region, drawing visitors from all over the country.
