So crowded, even on weekdays. The childrens play area is amazing and fun, except that there is 2 adults for 1 child and it's so full that my kid can't enjoy himself. There needs to be a limit, it would be awful to drive there and get told it's full but it's not fun when there is no room to turn around. Also the past 2 times my mother has gone she has got extremely sick. Sick for weeks. Do they sanitize daily? Luckily my child hasn't been sick. We probably won't go back for a few years.

The museum was ok. I did the featured Pompeii exhibit, the rest of the museum, and the exhibition theatre. The permanent exhibits were somewhat interesting but very dated. I chose to see the Forces of Nature movie just because it worked out best with the time I was there and again, super dated. The Pompeii exhibit was very interesting but super short; I felt like it ended as soon as it started (but this is a traveling exhibit so this is probably not the fault of OMSI). I was pretty bummed by the whole experience as it seemed like the exhibits hadn't been updated in 10+ years. I don't think this experience was worth the $30 I paid for it.

This is the best museum I have ever been to and it is not just for kids. Once a month the museum is open late for people 21 and older, which is a great time to experience the place without competing with kids.

Nice and clean searing in the imax. The Lazer show in the planetarium was dizzying and I would not recommend it. Kind of boaring. Not sure how the other shows stack up to the one in NYC. They have some cool labs you can participate in and some fun since gizmos to play with. Very hands on. Was a little disappointed with the room for the really little kids because many of the machines were broken.

I came here during the OMSI After Dark Brewfest and as beer lover was delighted and surprised to receive 10 tasting tickets, generously poured by the vendors. I went from beer to beer and show to show trying the puzzles, watching the spectacles, and making new friends who stopped to see the same thing that I did. Had a great time!

What a great museum! I took my 4 year old wondering if he d be old enough to engage and he absolutely loved it. They had an amazing temporary exhibit on robots. We also loved the science playground. As a bonus, we ve been trying to get him to accept that we re having a little brother soon, and there was a huge display on human life in the womb. Very helpful to have visuals!

This place is amazing!!! A go to for kids and adults of all ages. If you are visiting Portland, you have to make the trip. The robots exhibit was by far our favorite. My 10 year old and 6 year old loved the coding, chemistry lab and cause and effect hands on exhibit the most. We only had 3 hours to spend and could have easily spent another 3 hours taking in everything OMSI had to offer. I am a frugal Mama, but this place was well worth every dollar spent!

Spent 4 hours here! There is alot to see so give yourself the time to get everything in! The sub was a highlight for me with the tour done by a veteran who spent 20 years in a sub! There is a robot Exhibition at the Museum right now.

An overall enjoyable experience. The premises is well maintained (clean, minimal signs of disrepair or age, etc). The exhibits provide a decent amount of entertainment capable of adult appreciation, as well as that which is meant for younger patrons, and thus, provides something for the entire family... Prices for gift shop items, food, and novelty exhibits/rides are, as expected, is on the rather pricey side... Still, overall, I'd recommend to anyone looking to kill a day with the fam...

Always an amazing time! Amazing exhibits and they are ever changing. Highly recommend for families and just anyone that is interested in the wonders of the universe. Went to see Body Worlds this time around and was not disappointed. They were great about social distancing and had you select time slots to make sure there weren't too many people flooding in at the same time.

I was a little uncertain about taking my kids to OMSI because they get bored very quickly with everything, but I was pleasantly surprised at how engaging the exhibits were throughout most of the museum especially in the big room with the old generator. There are so many great physical science experiments for kids. There is lots of stuff to touch and put together for little hands. There was actually too much to do for us and we left after three and a half hours because we weren't prepared for all of the activities available. The kids did not want to leave so I suggest bringing food or money for the eatery inside of the museum. Our trip to OMSI was somewhat impromptu so we weren't prepared to stay more than a few hours, but there was certainly enough there to keep the kids busy for a bit longer.

I took my one year old recently and we had a wonderful time! He loved the robot exhibit! The children's playground was also a great hit! I've never been in there before and we could spend all day in there.

We went on a rainy winter Sunday and OMSI was packed, particularly with families with kids. It couldn't have been more fun. Watching kids diving into all the experiments and experiences was a huge treat; the submarine tour was whipped topping. ("Packed" doesn't mean Disney-length lines, just lots of life in the house.)

It is becoming to expensive
The traveling exhibits and interactive learning areas are great but over the years I've supported OMSI I've seen a price rise making it difficult for me to continuing to expose children to it.

OMSI is a great place for kids to learn about the sciences, and for adults to remember how to be curious. In addition to the regular interactive displays, there's always something interesting in the temporary exhibit hall, too.

Beyond the exhibits, there is a submarine you can tour through, as well as a giant screen theater, and a planetarium.

The only downside is the expense- the basic admission is on the high side, and to do anything beyond the basic exhibits is an added expense, and an extra $5 to park. Tickets are sold in packages, so you can decide how many extras you can afford to pack into the day.

Great place for the kids. Accommodates folks of all ages. The submarine is really interesting especially if you can get a tour with the ex sub captain. Note that the sub tour is not really special needs accessible (not a huge surprise. It is a submarine after all). Theory cafe is really nice and is a real step up from the standard "kids museum" fare.

Unfortunately, OMSI was a real disappointment. The main exhibit space is very small, so for 20+ bucks not worth it. I've been to science museums in Boston and California, and even as an adult could enjoy them. The quality and variety of the exhibits just weren't there for "older" kids. Plus...the kids!!! Because it was so small it's overrun, so no one else can really enjoy much of anything even if there were exhibits of interest.

What a great museum. But there is so much to see that you have to pick and choose. The planetarium was a lot of fun, but I would not recommend it for people who have vertigo. The tour of the blue back diesel submarine was wonderful, but could be difficult for anyone not in good shape. The hands on exhibits were a good way to get viewers involved.

The best place ever! I love OMSI, go there, take your kids and they will love it too! Go to an OMSI after dark event and really experience OMSI at it's finest, but under the influence. Great for dates, and great for solo adventures, and in the end you might even learn a cool thing or two

This is an amazing 2 story museum with many hands-on science exhibits, interactive displays, and some science labs.

The submarine tour is worth the extra money. The sub has original equipment.

Our 9 yo had a blast! Some favorites of his: the laser planetarium show (didn't want it to end), the robotic arm game, boat building and testing on a wave machine, earth life lab, chemistry lab, and physics lab.

Excellent museum. Lots of activities for kids and still a bit to cater to the adults. For the grand admission (museum access, sub tour, movie showing, planetarium, and parking) it ran me about $31. But I was definitely entertained the entire time. The submarine tour was fascinating and afterwards I had made a stop into the Theory kitchen for a bite and a beer (pictured). Great food. This place is awesome. I just wish it was bigger.

My family loves this science museum. The permanent exhibits are good for kids, especially younger ones. Plus, they always have a traveling exhibit that never disappoints. They also have a planetarium and an IMAX theater.

There is so much to say about OMSI, but I am not going to, I'll just say this. You can spend days having fun here and a Membership and parking tag are absolutely worth it. It never gets dull as world-class exhibits rotate through multiple times a year. If you have kids, this is the place to go in Portland. If you are an adult, they have tons of stuff for you too, including exclusive adult events.

Lots of science educational activities and stations for kids. We didn't check out the submarine tour though that sounds interesting. There were some well-presented other exhibits, like the series of fetuses of increasing ages, and a good presentation on the effects of global warming on native Alaskans. Other than that though, a bit thin in terms of high quality in-depth science presentations.

Great place to bring the family with lots of things to keep everyone entertained. Planetarium, movies, different exhibits(right now on robots) and a really good cafe with lots of options. Only 4 stars because of the expense. Almost $100.00 for 3 adults and 1 child for exhibit and 1 movie.

We haven't been in a year and idk what happened. There's hardly any exhibits left. It's sparse. No animals in the little back room. No 3d pen or so motion video stuff. And that would be cool if there was anything in its place. Maybe they're in between stuff. Basically you have to pay to get in them pay $15-20 to see the exhibit (right now it's robots). My kids use to love coming to OMSI so we were all pretty disappointed. And they've started charging members for parking too! That's an unpleasant surprise.

Each time I visit there's something new to discover, especially with the changing exhibits. Great for kids, who'll enjoy the science section and adults can have fun too or at least walk along the water front.

About OMSI

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is a premier science center located in Portland, OR. It is one of the most popular attractions in the region, drawing visitors from all over the country. OMSI offers a wide range of exhibits and programs that are designed to educate and inspire people of all ages about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

OMSI was founded in 1944 as the "Oregon Museum of Science and Industry." Since then, it has grown into one of the largest science centers in the United States. The museum's mission is to inspire curiosity through engaging exhibits and programs that encourage visitors to explore scientific concepts.

One of OMSI's most popular exhibits is its planetarium. The planetarium features a state-of-the-art digital projection system that allows visitors to experience stunning visuals of space exploration. Visitors can also learn about astronomy through interactive displays that showcase different planets, stars, galaxies, and other celestial objects.

Another popular exhibit at OMSI is its submarine tour. Visitors can explore an actual decommissioned Navy submarine called USS Blueback which was used during Cold War era missions. This unique experience gives visitors an up-close look at what life was like for submariners during this time period.

In addition to its permanent exhibits, OMSI also hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year on various topics related to science and technology. These exhibitions often feature interactive displays that allow visitors to engage with scientific concepts in new ways.

OMSI also offers a variety of educational programs for students ranging from preschoolers to high schoolers. These programs are designed to supplement classroom learning by providing hands-on experiences with STEM concepts.

For adults interested in continuing their education or exploring new topics related to science or technology there are many opportunities available at OMSI as well including lectures series on various topics such as climate change or artificial intelligence.

Overall,Oregon Museum Of Science And Industry (OMSI) provides an excellent opportunity for individuals who want an immersive experience with STEM subjects while having fun at it too!
