Amazing zoo!! One of the best in the country. Kids and adults will love it here
Great place to take the family. Clean facilities and decent food. Don't visit the monkeys before eating unless you want to lose your appetite by watching them eat their own feces. Or do if your on a diet and need a little appetite suppression. All around great time !
Incredible zoo. If you find yourself in the Omaha area take a day and go here you will not be disappointed.
Had an amazing day with the family. So many exhibits and so much to do. Could've easily spent two or three days there.
This zoo happens to be the best place to go for the family. The aquarium is a breath of fresh air and there is always something cool to see.
They have a wonderful new splash area for kids and adults with all types of whales and other ocean animals. Really neat. Plus other new attractions for young kids. They also are working on a new exhibit which looks like it will be great also.
Aquarium was fantastic, exhibits are great! Sting ray beach was really fun with the opportunity to touch and feed the stingrays. The kids Adventure land was a great place for the kids to run around, pet goats, float on a raft and play in the tree house.
Worlds greatest Zoo. So many exciting new attractions coming! Daughter loves the red panda! Have been a member for years and do not regret it in the slightest. Excited for the summer and seeing all the different animals.
Awesome zoo to enjoy with the family. Lots of walking, plenty of hills.
Not much to see probably because of covid but still for one of the best zoos in the USA could be a lot better
Way too busy and some of the animals were not out and visible. The food and drink prices were pretty hefty. Staff was friendly and zooi was clean.
The high ratings are deceiving. The zoo grounds are big but it seemed not to house many animals. My daughter said we are here to people watch. I don't if it was because it was March maybe? However we made the best of it.
This place is amazing!! They have an Alaskan adventure splash park for kids to play in water. They also have many indoor exhibits like the lied jungle and desert dome which makes it a perfect place to visit in winter. They had many animals. We had lots of fun!! It s the best zoo in the U.S.
Fantastic zoo. Our group did the overnight stay - in the aquarium - which was great. Get the zoo to yourself and get guided tours of a couple exhibits to see the animals' nocturnal activities.
This zoo is one of the best in the world. They care for the animals and you can learn quite a bit.
Great visit and my family really enjoyed it. We spent a full day there. Many kids were in swim gear for the water play areas. I didn't realize this was an option before getting there, but we had plenty to see and do while staying dry.
First time in many yrs loved it they have much much more then what we had yrs ago
We always have a wonderful time at the omaha zoo. I love that they are updating in chunks so that guests can see the progress as it's done.
Wasn't busy at all and the animals (primates especially) were out and playing around. As we continued walking we found more and more, always surprised by how big and full of different exhibits it was. Definitely a must see Zoo!
The weather was awesome, so my kids and i were able to see a lot of animals outside.looks like they're doing more construction work. So is getting better each year
A really nice zoo and only a 2 hour drive from Leavenworth, KS. Especially liked the free ranging peacock.
Always super fun to go to. Lots to do and tons of attractions.
The zoo is amazing. You could spend 2-3 days here. Make sure to check out the aquarium as it's unlike anything I've ever seen. Seriously this zoo will surprise you with how amazing it is.
This zoo is always so amazing! 11am is a great time to visit, crowds aren't bad, parking is good and the animals are all out and about.
Omaha Zoo I will NEVER spend my time or money coming to your zoo ever again. Took some friends during a trip here this weekend as they have never been. Low and behold, we spend the day in the zoo but they close the gift shop down early, before the zoo closes? Wth? I now have friends and kids that are genuinely upset they can t take something home with them. Shame on you. I watched HUNDREDS of people coming up to try to get something and the lady watching the door was rude and not sympathetic that people just spent $50+ to come to the zoo and then get no apologies that they can t get something from the gift shop. Other zoos are at least accommodating to allowing an extra 30 minutes to come in to grab those souvenirs after zoo closing. Just utterly, shame on you Henry Doorly.
I really enjoy the Henry Doorly Zoo, but I can't rate it any higher due to the worst hours of operation I've ever seen. During the summer they close at 5, even though there is plenty of daylight left. During the winter they close at 4, when people are getting off of work. You'd better love crowds and traffic jams if you plan on going on the weekend This zoo seems to exist for school field trips and stay at home moms. I think they could also learn from the Denver Zoo and do something like Zoo Lights during the holiday season to bring in more business and give people something to do on those long winter nights. With that said, I really do enjoy the zoo experience they offer.
It was not bad. I dont know if it was worth all the money I spent. Lol
Seriously am incredible zoo. It's so clean and will maintained. The zoo staff are so knowledgeable about the animals and genuinely care about the wellbeing of their animals. The habitats are state-of-the-art and are appropriate of their inhabitants. They are constantly expanding and improving the habitats and their hard work pays off. This is quite frankly one of the best zoos in America. Well done Henry Doorly Zoo!
Great zoo. Many exhibits closed due to Covid however.
Possibly the best zoo I've been to, out of dozens around the Midwest. It's huge; you could easily spend two or three days if you want. We were there on a rainy day and still had more than enough to see just in the indoor exhibits. The swamp under the Desert Dome was unique and amazing. You walk boardwalks right over swimming crocodiles. The jungle, aquarium, and children's adventure land are also each worth a trip!
Such an amazing zoo! My kids loved it so much! A lot to do and see. Highly highly recommended it!
Beautiful facility with all sorts of amazing animals and fun interaction.
Best Zoo EVER! so busy, but it feels relaxed and plenty of room for everyone. You never feel crowded. Animal environments are beautiful and grounds are stunning. The facilities are modern amd clean. Truly the best place to visit!
Had a ton of fun! Plan on a long stay because you'll want to see it all!
Loved it!!! The new exhibits are phenomenal. Plan to stay the whole day so you don't miss anything
Much nicer than many of the zoo's I've been to and getting better all the time. The one gorilla needs to destress though before being placed for public obsevation.
An amazing zoo, a must see for anyone passing through Omaha, NE
Great place, unfortunately a lot of exhibits are closed due to Coronavirus
one of the best zoos i have visited around the world, fantastic layout amd scenery, animals on show were great and going in end October/early November the trees and leaves add to the experience and no crowds so you can really enjoy without queues.
69000 animals at the omaha zoo, there is plenty to see and do! Food and drink is regular zoo prices but hey that s a lot of animals to take care of so... make time to take the train, great view of everything.
A lot of closed areas. What was open was very average for a zoo.
Didn't have enough time to see everything. Will stay longer next time, because we will be back!!
Paid $67 just to walk around the zoo and almost pass out of heat exhaustion. Seriously though if half of the attractions are closed then the public should not have to pay full price.
It was great with my wife and kiddos! All the animals were very up close and active and all around a really cool Zoo! My favorite part was the Gorillaz! They are beasts... They have domes and lots of Windows and they come right up to the window and it's just amazing!
Great place to take the kids - but it's also fun for the whole family! There are plenty of exhibits, and I doubt anyone in the family will be bored. They also provide tram and train rides for low prices!
I Love Visiting this zoo. The Gorillas Are AMAZING. They have multiple of each animal. The zoo is nice and shaded. The homes for the animals are Good sized. The Animals are Well talking care of. We went 2 days a total of 6 hours and still didn't see everything. Worth Every Minute! Love the Memories .
Great experience, the animals are amazing. Note to self....bring window cleaner wipes if you plan on taking nice photos, the glass gets smudged really quick. Bring Clorox wipes, there are signs everywhere stating surfaces are not regularly cleaned. Also, I didn't know this ahead of time but outside food and beverages are allowed so pack a picnic and bring your drinks! Food is expensive but not out of line with what I would expect.
Best parking for the Summer is at the new North gate, new children's area & splash park are phenomenal! I recommend you bring sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, swimwear for the kids, and walking shoes. Yearly memberships give you way more bang for your buck! Worth every penny!
Took my family there for the first time. They totally loved it! Got to admit it brought out my inner child in me. Felt like a kid again. Not to mention I was with my teenage kids!
One of my favorite zoo's. I will definitely be taking my kids here in the future. They have every kind of animal you can dream of and it is all laid out so nicely. They have a ton of animals and it takes you a day to get through the zoo alone.
We are having a great time, just wish all animals were out
I would normally give it 5 stars, but the last time we went...so many things were under construction. I've been to this zoo before and it was amazing, but we had no warning on their website or anywhere that half the zoo would be out of commission when we planned our 6 hour drive to go here. Pretty disappointed. Still giving it 4 stars since I remember the visits before being great!
Was literally 2 feet from a giraffe. So cool! Super clean zoo with a ton to see. The animals have huge living spaces for the most part, which is heartwarming to see. Not trapped in cement walls.
Definitely a must see, plan for a whole day or 2! There's so much to see
This has got to be one of the best zoos I ve ever seen. We definitely walked 5 miles that day and we still didn t get to see everything. It was an amazing zoo. It was during the winter time and the animals were in a different habitat that kept them warm but we still had such an amazing time and can t wait to go back in the summer to see them in their normal habitats. Be prepared to pay anywhere from $10-$20 per person for food. But the admission is well worth it!!
Always l love to go to the zoo and take the kids. It is a good way to spend the day with them, let them have fun and learn all at the same time....
Omaha's zoo adds more everytime we go!! Now they have a splash pad and play area for the kids. Plus the jungle, butterfly exhibit, aquarium, desert, gorilla house, carousel, train, teams, sky ride- like a ski lift. We loved being able to feed the giraffes and stingrays. There is so much to do now, that it's nearly impossible to make it through in one day. Great exhibits and animals! A must see if visiting or living in Omaha!
Wrong temperature for the animals. It was in the 90's.
Omaha Zoo is on the top biggest Zoo. Really fun for the family and kids and so much too see.
I love the zoo. There is always a lot of people and is a little crowded on the aquarium. I love the rainforest and it has a lot of things to see. Has water and also a lot of concesions, the ice cream is really good.the lift if nice and the train is a little boring but not for kids they will enjoy it.
I hadn't been there for several years. It seems very spread out, and not as many outdoor animals as I would have thought.
There is a lot to see and somewhere around five interactive locations! There is enough that my ankles are hurting after visiting maybe half of the stuff! Great place to visit, just make sure you stay hydrated and you may want to bring some sun screen!
Excellent zoo! There is a large variety of animals, but it's the various habitats that make this zoo special. From the desert dome, to the lied jungle, they allow you to see the animals in a way beyond just cages and enclosures.
Amazing exhibits, cool animals, and location in the city is perfect. plan to spend all day here!
My daughter and son-in-law took me and my wife here for a Father's Day gift. With the kids and grandkids, it was a fun trip. I'd say the aquarium is a little more special than the zoo. The aquarium has this glass tunnel that you walk through, with fish swimming all around you. Pretty cool! We also liked the steam train and the "ski lift" rides at the zoo. It's best not to try to see everything in one day. We allocated four days--two for travel and two for gawking. Our grandkids are three and five.
The additions are awsome! Other than spending alot its an all around fun time.
Best zoo I've ever been to (and I've visited quite a few "top" zoos)
Great place. Accommodates all ages. One of the best zoos in the US!
Coolest zoo I've ever been to! I have been here 3 times now and there are new things to see every time. Highly recommend visiting here! I dont plan this as part of a vacation, it IS our vacation!
Ingenuous adult nights. Need them more often. This place is consistently getting better and better. But pricey.... So that's likely why.
It was really sad. This zoo is for the rich! We came from out of town and hoped to go with friends, but the pricing is pretty outrageous. Since we drive all of the country and spend a lot of time on an 8000 acre ranch, been to many zoos, we aren t missing much. However, I feel bad for the people who don t have the money to visit a place like this. And right now, we re tight...will have to pass.
I ll definitely go back to this zoo. I think I d enjoy it more in the fall or spring. Preferably a weekday afternoon.
I remember going when I was younger and seeing more glassed in exhibits and understood why they Were one of the top zoos. Maybe that has changed? What happened to those (only a few now)? I was able to see the entire zoo in a couple hours. Hung around to catch some of the "shows". Not really worth it as an adult if you've been to other zoos. St.Louis is still the best and it's free.
Only a great place to go! Keep in mind there is construction always going on but only to make the zoo a better place for the animals and for you to view them in better living habitats. Great for all ages anytime of the year. Always me and the wife and our 2 year little girl making weekly trips to hit a couple exhibits at a time (great way to hit the zoo if you live locally and have a membership)!
This zoo is absolutely amazing, always a great trip!
Amazing! The train ride is fun! Got to see a baby gorilla and baby giraffe
Amazing zoo. Parking is rough though, and some exhibits will have a lot of traffic. I recommend a weekday for zoo excursions.
We did the overnight with our girl scout troop and had an amazing time. I highly recommend it. I think it's called sleepover safari. Best time I've ever had at the zoo!
I haven't been to this zoo in years! Loved our trip with my parents, kids and grandkids. Loved seeing the excitement of my grandkids seeing the zoo for the first time
Zoo, aquarium, dome: exceptional facility but be careful of going in summer if you have health issues as the heat is excessive and there are few places to rest in shade
One of the best zoos in the U.S. and second to the San Diego Zoo.
An excellent experience! They truly are working hard to keep this a great experience for families. All facilities were clean and I used one of the new nursing rooms in Adventure trails. It was so clean. A worker would come in and clean the area quite frequently. It rained our first day but I was awesome to be able to still see most of the animals inside. Very impressed about the upkeep of this zoo. One of my favorite zoo's alongside the Minnesota Zoo.
This zoo is amazing! Clean and such an enjoyable day.
Best zoo I've been. We got the yearly membership and my 3 yr old daughter loves to go here. The zoo staff is very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms are clean, same as tje grounds. Animals are healthy and the staff seems to actually care for them. Love all the new additions also.
I love the variety of animals you get to see and lots of them are coexisting together like they would in the wild. All the enclosures are as close to being as they would in the wild as you can get. The place was very clean and everyone was super friendly too.
BEAUTIFUL!! This zoo has it all! (Not literally, but close) it is so fun to go to and it is definitely time consuming. The sights and environment around you are truly beautiful. Seeing the different animals and different activities there are to offer make this zoo keep its place at #2. They are building a new exhibit and it will be huge. Hopefully it will be enough to put it at spot #1 like it deserves.
