Horrible experience ... unfriendly and unhelpful staff, completely annoying just because we were foreigners. We had booked by talking directly to the manager and then as soon as they arrived they kicked us out of the way saying that our tables had been given to someone else. Strongly not recommended.

Food has surprised us on both visits with at least one of our dishes exceeding all expectations. The place is spacious and hasn't had a wait when going in the evening. The only ding against it is that the music can be loud if you're trying to chat with your party.

I rarely give 5 stars! The Oliver Plunkett deserves it. The only pub in Cork that plays authentic live traditional music 7 nights of the week. Music Options. For more modern music stay downstairs, for more traditional music and dancing, venture upstairs. The food was really good. A simple selection of genuine Irish dishes that are very well presented and taste amazing. You ll not be dissatisfied with a visit to The Oliver Plunkett. Make sure to include it on your Itin when you visit Cork.

As soon as I walked in, the guy at the coffee counter yelled "we are not open for lunch" and as I turned around to explain I just wanted to sit at the bar and have a drink, he saw my camera, assumed I was a foreign tourist and yelled louder and slowly "we are not open for lunch!" Not a great way to treat a guest, but I'm seeing Cork is by far not as friendly as other places in Ireland

The best night out in Cork by far. Great choice of drink, although why you would veer from either the Murphys or the Jamesons I don't know! The real draw here is the entertainment. Superb musicians and top class Irish dancers. This is entertainment you would definitely pay good money for, but there's no need - there's no entry charge and it's all part of the experience. Prepare to tap and sing and clap - Can't recommend highly enough.

Oliver Plunkett is to Cork, what the Temple Bar to Dublin. Fascinating every day, with live music, a very varied and cosmopolitan atmosphere and a smoking area so beautiful you'll want to enter even if you do not smoke.

KEEP ON WALKING BY!!! Started off well, got the tasty seafood chowder (hence the two stars not one) Service was EXTREMELY slow and poor from here. 15 minutes waiting for the plates to be cleared and then another 20-30 minutes for our mains to come. Steak sandwich was like eating cold sawdust and the fish & chips had zero flavour, stank of frying oil and enough batter to cover 2/3 fillets. Chips were obviously cooked a while beforehand and then just refried. Would not recommend at all unless you want to waste your money in a typical & traditional Irish tourist trap.

Food was fine (tasty, generous serves) but service was impatient and not very friendly or welcoming. On recommendation of the hostess, we went upstairs for the traditional music and dancing with set menu (good options), only to be informed after ordering that our entrees and mains needed to come together as the kitchen was going to close (we waited ages to order and could/should have been told this while ordering as it would have influenced our choices).

Very nice and big pub on two floors, live music played on both, rock on the ground floor and Irish traditional on the 1st floor, loads of people and nice atmosphere, and very big smoking area witch has its own bar(loved it). Good place to go out and have some fun and enjoy the evening or come for some meal at day time(don't know do they serve food in evening hours). Definitely recommending if you are in Cork.

Pub is lively with a live band on Sundays. Staff not particularly friendly behind the bar. Also was sat at a table with full drinks and got asked to leave the table so people could sit down to order food. No mention of trying to get us different seats or any thanks. As a paying customer with a full drink I felt this was very rude
