Old Anchor Resort Goa Review

Booked a deluxe suite but the room they gave us was horrible. The curtains were falling apart, there was no trash can, even the furniture was very old and scratched. It seemed like we had come to some horrible guest house. This hotel is no where near 3 stars. It is 1 star at best. Even outside the rooms it was very dirty. The pool area was dirty too.
We have lived in many 3 star hotels, but this was very bad. Don t book here! When we requested a room change, they told us they had no other rooms available and to go to some other hotel even though we had booked one month in advance.

The staff is very rude and unwilling to cooperate. They seem to not be aware of how to run a hotel.
Also poor WiFi connectivity in rooms and they said that WiFi will only be available in lobby and pool area.

Overall very bad experience. There are other hotels in south goa. Go there

Very beautiful, large, well-groomed area. On the one hand, the river Sal flows, from the territory of the hotel you can admire the wax in the morning, the calm flow of the river pacifies. Great pool, clean. The pool sun loungers, umbrellas showers, near a bar and a restaurant-type eatery on two floors. Very diverse, tasty, vegetarian breakfasts, fast service. Next to the pool, Ali Baba's Treasure Store. It works Raphael. Decently speaks Russian. Believe and take note, rags, tea, gold, silver, natural stones. You can choose, order by your design, repair your jeweler. Quickly, efficiently, politely. Prices are several times more profitable than on the prominade in the shops. Bargaining is appropriate, you can always negotiate. Opposite the entrance to the hotel, the road is industrial, the traffic is insignificant, 2 minutes and the beach. In the neck of the hotel there are almost no people, the guys quickly and politely serve, everything will be delivered to the lounger and put umbrellas from the sun. Within the limits of service dishes, they understand and try to speak Russian. Free wi-fi, weak as in the hotel. Hotel rooms are different, from the a la janitor's chambers, to deluxe rooms and suites. There are flat TVs in the period from 3.12. 18. By 13.12.18. Not working, like a black square. Very worn-out furniture, shabby doors, cleaning is regular but Hindu surface. Plumbing is not cleaned, toilet paper on request, even in the suite. Shampoo, body balm, soap. Bed and polate very worn, but change. Tea set, tea, coffee. But it is not so important, you are in India, the luxury of the sea, nature, everything covers. Fruits are in Russia, bargaining is complicated. But in the pharmacy cheap and very well helping drugs, both medicinal and cosmetic. Just to the left of the entrance to the hotel across the street is a coastal cafe. Friendly, fun, professionally working waiters, everything is sooo delicious, live music, dancing, delight. Amazingly clean, even in the closet. At the reception in the hotel, polite, intelligible through Google translator service personnel. On the minute readiness perform requests when contacting. On site, an ethnic music group by the pool, a puppet theater, every evening. The administrative apparatus, the disco hall, is located in the built-in hull of the ship, a few years ago, the hull of the beach rusted. It seems that it successfully applied. All the buildings in the Portuguese-style hotel have two floors. If you want relax, sea, fishing, you here. Just stock up on antibacterial wipes, mosquitoes, good mood, knowledge of the characteristics of India. Else, there is a yoga instructor. We were very lucky to be present at the wedding of the Hindus in the hotel, we received the maximum positive joy of happiness from the relationship. Beautiful people, happy, enthusiastic eyes. Invited to the center of the dance circle. Great, like Bollywood. In the evenings on the beach, at the shacks they put tables with candles by the sea, you can order food, fire and dance. If you update the furniture, make redecoration, enhance Wi-Fi, restore the work of TVs. The rating would increase by 2 stars. In general, a very pleasant experience, depends on a positive attitude. Some room had bad odour, some had leakages. Worst behavior staff's and management people. Don't come and lose ur self respect.

Very bad room service. Rooms are old least maintained and not cleaned. Water issue in all rooms all taps are broken. Location is good food is ok. Not at all recommended. They provide only quality services to foreigners russians.

Hotel with worst service. An order placed will take literally 1 to 1.30 hours to get into your room. No generator backup. If you have patience after placing an order than you can be flexible with the place. The rooms intercom is not working, TV provided with dish tv is not working. No doubt the place is old but due to service i would not recommend this place.

The place is really nice and at a great location but there is a lot of scope for improvement when it comes to service.

Very nice resort surrounded by beach at one side and river another side with good amenities. Rooms are bit cozy but good though. Had a nice stay .

The Byke Anchor Resort is one of the oldest and a huge property in South Goa. The rooms are clean, great hospitality and the best thing is the food you get in the resraurant. You can book rooms in the hotel for a mid range resort. Also beach is a 2 min walk down the roadside. There are many beaches in South Goa but the beach near the Byke resort is amazing. Also this area of South Goa is best to stay as you find all high rated resorts and cafe/pubs nearby.

Currently staying in Room 319. Worst experience in goa with pathetic room service. Room service is very arrogant and management is also ignorant. Fan in the room is not working, AC in the room is not working. Room is filled with mosquitoes. 2 complaints made in the last 10 hours without any improvement. Strongly advice NOT TO SELECT THIS RESORT. The hotel doesnt deserve even 1 star, but no option less than 1 star..

Pathetic experience.. Will never suggest this lace to anyone.. Management very poor.. Slow service.. Staff is clueless.. Horrible experience ever..

Excellent food but average to below average rooms. The property has not been maintained well. But the hotel is well located.

When they were naming their resort "Old Anchor", they were not kidding! This place is older than probably independent India and is very ill kept. They didn't even provide hand towels or shower gel. The rooms had only 2 electrical plugs which were occupied with the tv and the dth. Dirty cupboards, disfunctional AC remote, shabby looking bedding were few more demerits.

Only upside was the location. Very close to the beach which was very clean and peaceful.

Be extremenly careful while paying or booking online...Its sales department Mumbai is hungry for your money...Else goa resort is good and manager is reasonable

Best place to spend holidays. It's very calm and pleasant place. Has spa, dj party halls, swimming pool and more.

The place is situated at a really beautiful location, right in front of cavelossim beach. The staff is very helpful, the place not too crowded. But the place is not very well maintained.

The place is big and there is a lot of greenery and the lake behind the resort is superb, peaceful.
But the rooms and bathrooms are dirty, especially the foyer spaces. Our room had a bad damp odour, we complained and no one bothered about it. The staff is doing there best with what ever cleaning equipments they have, the management is minting money and looks like they don't care much about customer complaints. I would give 5 stars to the restaurant staff and the food there. It's a vegetarian place, but since the food was good I didn't miss anything. One plus point is the hotel is very close to Fisherman's Wharf and the beach is walkable distance.

Pros
1. Really good property
2. Great food at the buffett (breakfast and dinner)
3. Really complete swimming(has a wide range of depth and a bar along with resting chairs)
And that where the good things end...

Cons
1. Slow and irresponsive room service (we wanted water 8 bottles and so we informed the reception as we close by to it and the receptionist called and informed the room service. About 10 minutes later I had to call again to "remind" them and again after 5 minutes.... AND finnaly ended up getting only 4 bottles instead of the required 8....)
2. Rooms are in a baaaad condition, especially considering the property
3. Hygiene in the restaurant is absent

I was fooled by this hotel. Low prices for rooms that are disgusting. The hotel is run down and super arrogant and obnoxious.

Situated on the banks of the river Sal in Cavelossim, South Goa this place has an amazing view of the river on one side and the Arabian Sea on the other. The beach is hardly a few meters away.
With such a strategic location this place at first glance seems the ideal option for a relaxed stay.. However once you check-in you start noticing the negative points. The rooms are in bad shape.. The bathrooms were clogging.. The wooden flooring was in terrible condition.. The television wasn't working..
After complaining we were asked to shift to another room and there the fridge wasn't available. On pointing this out they moved the fridge from the earlier room to the new one.
The housekeeping staff is one of the most arrogant ones that you could come across.
I fail to understand why the management is overlooking these issues which if dealt with could ensure a packed resort throughout the year.. Mind you this is a Pure Vegetarian resort, in Goa, and even then there are many people, Indians and foreigners alike who stay here just for the location.
I request the management to spend some money and time to make this the most wanted place

Bad smell in rooms ., unable to sleep closing windows and if it open.. insects are entering..

Offered rooms without proper cleaning.
Cupboard is full with dust, couldn t use.

Beware stay at your own risk.. old run down hotel with poor services. Swimming pool and rain dance is closed. We were shocked to note the same specially when one is coming for family holiday. Pure vegetarian with limited choices which will meet your taste with in room dining doesn't work 24x7. Average housekeeping service. If you want to spend your holiday following up and asking for services which are normally given by default in a hotel which is quoting 5000 Rupees plus taxes then please do book here. Hotel management is non existent although one will find one or two persons in grey coats now and then but they are least focused on guests and into there own thing. Bed mattresses are very poor one can feel coil springs and will have back pain and poor sleeping experience. Kid's play area or zone is in a poor state. Towels and bed linens will not be changed everyday unless you demand for it. Power failure followed by power tripping happens randomly specially during night. No tea coffee maker items were in the room until asked for it. Although we are staying in a luxury suite with prior arrival information to the hotel room was not clean and cockroaches were found in the master bedroom and ants in the living rooms. This hotel really requires a major renovation and deep cleaning of rooms to give a safe and comfortable stay to its guests. Only saving grace was the location being close to beach which is around 100 meters walk from hotel main gate. However overall very pathetic experience and wish others don't go through the same.

It's an old resort with the rooms not really well maintained. It's a big place with the beach very near. If you are on a budget then this place will do well.

Conveniently located. Few meters from Serene cavelossim beach. Perhaps the only resort with only veg restaurant.

Only the entrance and reception looks great. Rest everything is poor.

Big hotel with more then two hundred rooms. Positives : 1) Beach is just 4-5 mins walk from hotel. 2) Big space in hotel with many in-house amenities like Rain dance, Swimming pool, Beautiful garden with Back water view and also in-house disco. Overall nice place to walk around. 4) Courteous support staff Negatives: Proper hygiene is not there in room. Paints are coming out from walls. Seepages can be spotted on walls. One good thing is rooms are big and spacious. When we were entered the room we found that water was spilling from fridge. We spotted many matchsticks in room. TV remote was not working. However the staffs tried to address the issue in quick time. Electric feetings were not proper and many bulbs were not working. (Room no 310). You can easily spot rust on towel hanger in washroom. Further, if the hotel is fully occupied than finding a table for breakfast in restaurant is a bit time taking and a small queue is also there. Food is only veg but taste is very good and also reasonably priced. Overall a value of money.

Very poor experience. I stayed in the byke old anchor resort during my goa visit. It is a worst experience. No electricity and water suppy throughout the day. Staff is non supportive. They did not respond when contact to them for the issue. And at last they keep their fone receiver side.

Hopeless rooms.. Smells rotten.. Full of cocroch and mosquitoes.. Reception ppl are useless.. Never ever suggest to anyone.. Not a good experience

Worst service and food, found multi insects in food

Beautiful place to spend a chilled time, beach is just across the road, the place has a river side backyard and a pool and rain dance platform. Service is descent, it's a veg restaurant only, had a disco too. Rooms are good for the price

They say they are the pride of Goa. Apparently that's not the case! Clearly a poorly managed property. The rooms are worn out. They need serious refurbishment. Right from the linen to the walls, floor everything was dirty and moldy. Not to forget a peek a boo gap from the AC vent which is wide enough for any passerby to peep into. There were water stains on every appliance in the bathroom. We stayed for 4nights and on the very first morning there was no water supply in the bathroom for at least two hours. When the water supply started the WC was overflowing. Cherry on the top was that All our complaints were handled with complacency and no empathy was shown towards us. Hence we decided to spend minimum time in the room and explore outdoors. It's safe to say that The Byke Old Anchor is not the pride but the SHAME of Goa. To all those who want to go there, my two cents... ABANDON SHIP!

1. Nice location beach is a walk away, this beach is peaceful. And on the lap of river..
2. Resort is large and lot of things to do inside. Rain dance, swimming pool etc...
3. Services are beyond expectation staffs are well behaved.

If you plan to stay at south goa then choose this place...

Never ever go to this hotel ,worst experience of my life !! Beds have bed bugs , A/c does not work , service is pathetic .. and food is a never try!!

the best resort , they having swimming pool , restaurant , open garden , best rooms , and also room service .
But when i was there , i call room service for one spoon and plate for my dinner food they just say sir , we just send it sir but i got that spoon and plate after i finish my dinner.

It's ok for budget travellers. Rooms look a bit tired.

The most unprofessional people manages the resort. We were given a damp room in the ground floor. I was supposed to stay there with my infant grand daughter with all the mosquitoes and dampness. We wanted another room they refused to give. The front desk people were making fun of us when we were trying to get another hotel around. Very disappointing situation.
