Ogden the Experience:
Ogden the Experience:
On the outset we started noticing some very odd behavior regarding lack of communication and the communication we did receive was an email with broken sentences.
o This made us start to feel uncomfortable with working with them.
Website barely works and was even told by the property manager that it wasn t very good.
o Application process was clumsy on the website. My application was deleted and still was charged for the application that wasn t processed though I was told I wouldn t be charged.
I reached to the phone number listed on the charge and spoke to a gentleman that stated they would get back to me that afternoon. Never received a response and I was never reimbursed for the extraneous charge.
o Had to physically drop off the paperwork due to their site not functioning.
Received no reply from the administrative assistant after following up via emails.
We reached out to the property manager for follow up via their cell.
o Was informed not to reach out to them via their cell phone.
o At this time, we were also updated that the admin assistant is not very good at following up on emails.
Once we finally received notice that we were approved, we had to pick up the 18-pages lease and Ogden paperwork. The person that had answered the door was quite curt with me and seemed annoyed that I was at their doorstep getting the paperwork.
o A lot of the paperwork made us curious
Started reading up on the company and found numerous reviews from other clients that had very similar experiences. General theme was lack of communication and accountability.
There were issues ranging from not processing rent properly and poor response times for maintenance. We also found a review with an interaction of the owner of Ogden and how poorly they handled the client's situation.
o The people we worked with, were also mentioned by the name in the reviews that did not have any positive points.
o It was communicated that we had not received all the paperwork right after we had stated that we were planning to drop off the paperwork that evening.
Fortunately, we did not sign any of the paperwork nor drop it off. Due to this huge oversight, this took an extra week for us to receive those documents for review.
I find it irresponsible and borderline negligent to have the expectation of us signing a contract when the signers do not have all of documentation or facts.
It was decided that this behavior and lack of professionalism did not align for us. We did not sign any of the paperwork and waited to see if there was any follow up. It took 13 days for Ogden to realize that we had not provided the signed lease or security deposit.
I would not recommend this company and while I have only skimmed the surface of dealing with them, I think the poor reviews are a very accurate reflection of Ogden as a company and its culture. The lack of communication, professionalism, and follow up/through was quite disappointing.
Reading so many reviews in which owners and renters having even worst experiences should give anyone with even a modicum of morals and ethics pause and reflect whether they should proceed with working with this company.
