These folks have repaired and reupholstered several pieces of furniture for us (two living room chairs, a leather/wood chair and ottoman, 8 dining room chairs, an antique sofa), and they've consistently delivered on workmanship and customer service. We first met Furniture Specialties when they came to out home to service a piece of furniture that we had purchased elsewhere. They did a first class job.
When it came time to have the seats for our dining room redone, we asked several sources where to go, All pointed to Furniture Specialties. We took 8 seats to them, they quoted a fair price and then did a fantastic job. We will not hesitate to recommend them to friends and family and they will certainly be our first choice when looking for custom furniture and repairs on things we already own. They showed us their facility and some of their capabilities, all very impressive. They are true craftpersons.

Their work is excellent. A rocking chair had to have all its springs retied and casters were added to a make-up stool. It took about six weeks. My biggest challenge was finding the shop as I was not familiar with north-western Asheville.

Great service and craftsmanship. I had an antique Chinese dresser that was falling apart and a chair from the 30s that was cracked and wobbly. The dresser was completely taken apart and re-assembled, now sure to last another 100 years. The chair has a new leather seat and looks almost as it did 50 years ago.

Had a Mallin sling chair re-upholstered, and they did a great job.
I had an ottoman that all seams where ripping apart after only 13 months after purchase. Furniture Specialties repaired it completely, leaving it looking new. Furniture Specialties did a different type of upholstery than the original which will allow the ottoman to last forever.
April has such a eye for beautiful design and creates the most stunning interiors! Not to mention she is superbly nice and professional. I simply ADORE everything she puts her touch on!

We had furniture pillows that we wanted to have dry cleaned but they had no way to remove the coverings. We took them to Furniture Specialties and within a few days took the covers off and installed zippers. We were very satisfied.

After thoroughly interviewing all possible professional upholsters from Asheville, NC to Hickory, NC, we decided upon the folks at Furniture Specialties. We weren't disappointed! They offered special concierge services every step of the way in completing two specifically difficult and large re-upholster projects for us within a few weeks, unlike others we could only pseudo-promise 3-4 month turn-around.
First, a large Executive completely tufted leather desk chair was meticulously rebuilt and finely upholstered with the finest distressed leather available, complete with new expertly applied nail-heads. The results were absolutely breathtaking. Nobody comes close in even replicating and making this chair any more. In fact, we first bought a new "wanna-be" chair from Hancock & Moore Manufactures for more than four thousand dollars (these are the historic folks that build the chairs for the U.S. Supreme court justices and more), but sadly returned it because it just didn't meet our standards of expectations. Quite instructively, it took the skill and loving care from Furniture Specialities to bring our classic 35 year old solid hickory-framed Executive chair to life again, unfortunately making Hancock & Moore's chair look like a cheap reproduction.
Furniture Specialities also reupholstered a leather Media Sectional making it look and function like new.... all the while saving thousands of dollars for jobs that will likely last another 20 years.... The bottom line: These folks have the skills, the know-how, the care and talent to make your furniture dreams come true! Never skimping on quality of design nor old-world craftsmanship, Furniture Specialties consistently ensured the best possible price while respecting your time constraints, keeping the entirety of all our aspirations within budget. Furniture Specialties of Asheville, Inc. refinished my mother s child s chair and she was born in 1925. They refinished the wooden chair during the coronavirus (March, 2020).
Decisions made on stain, etc. were all done electronically and the chair is stunning! If you have a sentimental piece of furniture, or just a piece that needs to return to its former glory, this is the company for you! Years ago they repair a damaged headboard on a new bed, and to this day I cannot find where they fixed the damage. Bryan and his team are amazing!!!

As an interior decorator, I've worked with Furniture Specialties on numerous occasions to have sofas reupholstered, sofas and chairs custom built, outdoor cushions steam-cleaned, and FiberGuard protectant applied to furniture. They are quick to correct something, if need be. They have been 5 star on every occasion. And now they have a retail shop well worth a trip!
We recently had several upholstered pieces recovered and had Furniture Specialties make us an upholstered headboard. All of the work was impeccable and the results are just beautiful. We've used Furniture Specialties a lot over the years for a variety of needs. They built and delivered a custom chair and ottoman for us, have made house calls to apply stain repellent, and have cleaned furniture stains that we couldn't get clean ourselves. They have access to every fabric known to man so they're great to use when you're picky about the fabric color or style you want. Most recently, we used them to fix the hardware on some chair legs that a big box furniture retailer had repeatedly screwed up. They do everything!

We were in the market for a nice recliner. I stopped by on the way home late on a Friday evening and met Hannah who showed me around and explained my options. I was impressed with her and as a result my wife returned the next day, a Saturday of a holiday weekend. Hannah was off, but Bryan, the owner worked with my wife to find her "dream chair". He actually delivered it that afternoon! Now, the problem is that my wife likes the chair so much I can't seem to get her out of it. The quality is fantastic, the warranty is fantastic and both Bryan and Hannah were wonderful to work with. I am impressed!!!! The next time we need something in the way of home furnishings or reupholstering, we will be back.
