The Oasis is the place to find authentic middle-Eastern food in Iowa City. We had the lamb skewer with couscous and humus. The lamb was tender, the sides tasty and well-flavored. The crowd is loud and happy ... Overall it was a great experience, and we all agree - we'll return.
Can t beat Oasis! The food is the absolute best accommodates vegetarians and vegans too. Everything is always fresh. There isn t a ton of seating inside when they get busy, but the takeout it quick and travels well too. A great choice for lunch or dinner any day of the week.
People are nice. The chicken falafel sandwich was AMAZING. Chickpea salad is okay.. was expecting better. But the sandwich MORE than made up for it. Also amazing Baklava.
Love the falafel. The Genie's Plate really hits the spot. The freshly fried and generously seasoned pita chips, made from the part of the pita cut off for the pita sandwiches, are awesome. One of my favorite spots in the Corridor!
The gyro is unique but amazing. My favorite around town. The falafel and the Mediterranean salad makes puts this gyro in a league of it's own.

Food is delicious and well seasoned. Service is friendly and fast. Atmosphere leaves something to be desired... but I still highly recommend trying this place out if you haven't. Turkish coffee & lamb skewers are very good.

Oasis has been our go to place for decades. Naftaly and Ofer are the best! Try the Turkish coffee too if you are a coffee drinker. So good! My favorite is the falafel as is my wife s. And if you are adventurous like my son, try the sultan s platter. Dessert? They have baklava to die for!

I never heard anywhere falafel added to chicken Shawarma sandwich. The falafel sandwich here was good. The bread was very good. They serve labneh without bread.
The shopfront may cause you to think to stay away. Don't! Oasis serves Middle Eastern food prepared by an Israeli family. The lamb kebabs, served with two sides of choice, makes the visit worth it!
Awesome falafel and gyro joint. They also have a nice variety of hummus and baba ganoush that you can buy in various sizes. The wait is a bit long sometimes, so I'd recommend called in your order in advance. Would definitely be back.

People were friendly and the food arrived in a timely fashion portions were very good sized. Only complaint I would have is that the place could use a little bit more Decor. That being said, everything seemed to be pretty clean and updated.

I like to get falafel from here. It's very fresh and tasty. Pretty much everything on the menu is delicious. The staff was very nice. The only reason I gave this restaurant 4 stars is the price.
Best israeli/Jewish/Middle Eastern food in Iowa City. I currently live in Austin, but whenever I come to visit my in laws, I make sure to make a stop here. Their hummus is very authentic and tastes AH-MA-ZING.

The brown rice with caramelized onions side is a bit dry, and although the sizes match the portions it would be ok to make dishes slightly smaller and cheaper. Otherwise its great service, casual spot, great food.
Oasis is reliably mood-changingly delicious. It's easy to order vegan AND get full XD If you're into condiments like I am, there's a good variety of choices, like the mango curry sauce. On top of everything, their COVID-19 response has been very confidence inspiring. <3

I am not familiar with this cuisine but the cashier guided me through the menu and we decided that the Sultan Plate would be the best choice for the meat adventurer. I chose the Chicken Shawarma and Beef Kafka. It was the best chance I ever took with expanding my taste buds, however limited seasoned meat may seem...smh

Awesome food, the hummus is legendary and sold in all the good local grocery stores because it is that popular. Orders can sometimes take a while, and it seems like they recruited their staff from a punk rock show but it's all worth it!
OUTSTANDING. This place is amazing. The food is so good and fresh. Even though the fried chicken sandwich isn't on the menu (it should be) it is the best chicken sandwich in America. The homemade chips are amazing, get the Dy no sauce with them. I have not had a bad meal here ever.

The hot, seasoned pita chips with hummus were amazing! The gyro was good, but personally, I prefer the style we've had at other restaurants. It has chunks of actually cucumber, not just the cucumber sauce, so you'll probably love it if you love the idea of that.
Had chicken schwarma pita. It was more like charred, grilled chicken pieces in a stale pita that crumbled when picked up. Food was very bland. Hummus were satisfactory. Ordered ice tea and it came out of a Pepsi machine. Asked for sweetener because I'm diabetic, they only had sugar. I was sorely disappointed. Nothing like the Mediterranean restaurant in Lexington, KY.

The food is not healthy. They use excessive oil. I have tried it multiple times and different food. Each time it leaves me a bad feeling in stomach and bad breath for the rest of the day.
We also ordered their homemade "poptarts" and those were a winner as well. My husband said SEVERAL times while we were eating that we have to order from here more often, and I bet we definitely will be!

Their Falafel pita is my favorite meal on the planet. Well seasoned and verdant w/cucumbers, tomatoes and hummus. Add their sauces and it's perfect - highly recommend. Fries are fresh and hot. Quality service w/kind employees. Definitely a sit-down restaurant with a 10-20 minute wait, but it's always worth it. More time with friends and loved ones in a good environment, with great food.

We've been eating at Oasis Falafel for over 10 years. The people are friendly, the food is fresh, delicious, and nutritious. It's also a treat to visit the Market Street and Linn Street neighborhood of Iowa City because of the other interesting shops, businesses, and architecture in thatarea.

If you like Mediterranean food, then this will be one of your favorite places in the Iowa City area. They are locally famous for their delicious hummus, but I personally go there for the lamb skewers, eggplant salad, and falafel, all of which are top-notch.
The owner, manager, and staff are all really friendly. The food is great, especially the falafel, tabouli, and hummus. Portions are ample, and prices are low. Be sure to buy some hummus in containers to take home. It is better than any I've ever had. They also have tabouli and baba ganoush in containers (and, of course, these can be ordered to eat in the restaurant).
People here are great and the food is amazing. I typically will go here every other week. I've had everything on the menu and it is always fantastic. If you haven't been, you need to go. One of the best places to eat in Iowa City.
So delicious. Quick and cheap, sure, but the food is really really good. Last time I was there, I got some sort of lentil soup and my wife and I ended up fighting over who got to finish it. That kind of good.
